It’d be cool if Crypto could ping a spot and his drone would automatically go to it and scan the area for him instead of manually. EMP still the exact same, maybe he shouldn’t take damage from it or be stunned as well.

As a Crypto main, my heart aches watching you play haha I recommend him to the player that enjoys a more tactical and patient playstyle. You can still play very aggressive and keep up the pace. Crypto is a good legend, but just very easy to play wrong or badly. And he requires a lot of practice and skill to be good with. But once you get good with him, you'll realize just what kind of power you have and your teammates will be grateful. I had plenty of trouble learning his kit, but now I now get plenty of use with the drone. To name some: use the drone for the pre-aim advantage, recover banners from a level 4 ring or huge fight, scan through glass windows to watch enemy movement, have it guard my team's flank, disable a camp squad fortress...and the list goes on... But yes, Crypto does need a buff. I think making his drone optionally auto-deployable (similar to mirage decoy) would be the most useful.

He has been left in the dust but i think he's not in a bad place, a good crypto can really make some plays

Most humble buff would be drone speed. 1. He could actually be used aggressively if he could quickly activate drone and emp. 2. More reason to use drone for recon if you can explore a building, fight, loot, beacon faster. If not that then a buff to his passive similar what Kandy suggested. But maybe more so a Bloodhound scan that's spherical at the cost of drone being put on a cool down. Kinda mimicking the Map Room. Great plays either way.

Crypto is one of the most useful but also useless legends to have on your team and I have no idea how they managed that

Biggest buff he needs is letting him send the drone forward like a mirage clone that way you can push behind it, possibly emp, Get info in fire fights.

I picked Crypto back up after seeing how much he's used in EU comp and i would love it if when you press Q it send his drone 30m in the air directly above looking down, and if you hold Q then it brings up the drone interface like normal. he just needs a way to deploy the drone without being completely helpless in a fight.

His drone feels more like a passive than a tactical it's more like a tool for using his other abilities. His tactical should be independent from the drone or to thow it or scan or something like that. Idk

Honestly never knew you could active the EMP without actually being in the drone

I did a personal challenge recently - play each Apex character in order from Bloodhound onwards, sticking with that character until I got a win and then I could move on to the next one - I stalled out *hard* with Crypto. Took a long long time to get a win with him. I'm certainly not a great player but you could feel how weak he was. And I like Crypto.

I think a good crypto buff would be to make the drone kinda like mirages tacticle as in you can put your cursor where you want the drone to go, and it flies to that location a bit above the ground

Imagine like there was a button for him to just send his drone out forward kinda like ash tactical but you can click a button to stop it in place, so without going into your drone you can get it where it needs to be and not be miles behind. An fov increase on the drone would also be cool. I also like the idea Kandy had with the drone following him but I think itd be better to just have it behind him when the drones not out and then it scans whatever crypto is looking at so you're passively giving your team info even while fighting. I really like these ideas cuz they just let him have a more aggressive and fast playstyle, which he especially needs now because he's so passive to the point he's basically useless. Also he's gotta be able to use his drone while healing, it's like the one time you might use it mid fight, like please.

I think some nice crypto buffs would be that in the drone there is another ability that is and AOE scan similar to bloodhound, and being able to set up the drone with having to go into it, setting it up similarly to how Omen in valorant sets up his smokes.

Having played with a Crypto main for a long time, I feel like his biggest issue is the weight he puts on his 2 teammates. You gain the EMP an an initiation tool, but either lose one of your fighters in brawls due to him having to catch up after the EMP, or lose a movement character's ult to helping Crypto catch up after an EMP. He's pretty decent when you build around him and play with coordinated groups, but he definitely needs help to be viable in pubs.

Following drone and the drone glow being only while scanned and only the sound while not scanned, so is harder for people to notice or hit the drone. Then area beacons that ping location of enemy are passing through (like the number of players in the area on the map ping where the beacon is placed but does not see trough walls) and makes a sound and can be destroyed (but the timer on the beacon is zone based , the closer the zone the quicker the beacon expires, so from first ring it takes 2 rings to expire while from the close zones is half a ring timer) and beacon is like a grenade so it can be thrown and it stick like the arc star but not to enemy, to map stuff.

I think a pretty good buff for cypto is the ability to cast his emp without deploying his drone, so when crypto cast his ult we can choose where the emp will go and then he would deploy the drone to the direction we want.

Crypto is my most played legend and he can make some great plays, however his ultimate should really be a emp grenade like in his trailer that would make his a lot better

Crypto is most viable now for teams with good comms to coordinate use of the drone - usually in advanced, ranked play or a low level pub lobby. Without good comms, the fights are often 2v3 since the pace of game often involves quick attacks/ambushes. Crypto can't fight while he's controlling the drone so the 2 other teammates are left to take on a full team. Most pub games players don't use comms anymore so pub Crypto teams die off quickly after losing an uncoordinated 2v3 gunfight. A good buff would be give the drone some limited attacking ability - like Fuse knuckle cluster or Ash tether. Another option would be for the drone to generate a temp A-Wall (from Titanfall or like Lifeline's old shield) to give Crypto 5-7seconds of cover. A drone buff would let Crypto initially push with his team while in his drone and then to switch out to regular gun play as the fight progresses

I think some sort of Mechanic that allows people who are dead to be able to look through and maybe even pilot his drone might be a fun little buff. But I wouldn’t know how strong that would be.

A point and click kind of thing with the drone could also be useful matched with a buff on drone cool down would allow peaking corners or higher obstacles more viable

Idk about it but I’ve been thinking like you can tell the drone to go straight to a pinged direction like pressing h or something like mirage’s clone so you can say “drone is going to that point” and you’ll be pushing yourself as well and activate the emp while it’s flying towards that direction

I think a lot of Crypto's flaws spawn from that he's ultimately a team player, ironically. His skillset (while, yes, can be used and is good when he's solo) shines the most when he's on a good squad with communication - or instincts, if you're solo queuing and not using a mic. I honestly prefer him to Bloodhound or Seer because, once you get your setup done, a good Crypto can make or break a fight. But, I also think that's why people stay away from him - because he requires a little setup for that payout that the other scanner legends sort of give instantly. Like, there are so many fights I can recall when playing with Crypto that my EMP in the nick of time saved my team by allowing them to gain the upper hand or back up to safety when a third party hit. Overall, I wouldn't hate if they buffed Crypto's drone or EMP someway, though I do think he's in a good - if not niche - position.

Maybe being able to throw the drone by holding the tactical can help… like give a boost to the drone initial speed. Throw it -then activate the emp. Drop it somewhere and use later for droning…or use it like a gernade emp

I think crypto's drone should always follow him as passive and scan surrounding area warning when enemy is near, but doesn't tell you where they are. Tactical can be the same, controlling drone, but with a faster speed and when utility key is pressed it supports different control type. Like when you entering this mode you don't need to be on your drone and run around, yet when you hold down a certain button and wasd to move the drone without going into drone HUD. (like mirage clone but bit different) because often time you wish that you can move the drone without going into drone HUD and just EMP enemies little bit closer. (with faster speed it is gonna be harder for enemies to break the drone too)

Like what kandy said have the drone almost always hovering ontop of crypto , the tactical would be like sending a mirage decoy to a location and doing a 360 area scan , ult still a emp nuke.

there is a bug rn on stormpoint in Antenna where the drone scans from under the building, but its super useful there is general.

i forget where i saw the quote, but someone put Crypto's kit into a really good package when they said "Crypto doesn't have an ult, a passive and a tactical, he has one ability in the drone and the drone does everything". Its a great concept, but he really needs something else to give him that lil extra oomf. Like, the intel from the drone is GREAT, but it still means you're going into fights essentially with 2 and a half characters worth of kit, and if crypto wants to use EMP, you're in a 3v2 situation. He just needs something for fights that doesn't mean him hiding behind cover with the RCXD pad out

My ideas for a crypto buff: A complete passive change, right now it’s something that already should be in his tactical. Possibly what you suggested, however I also think a cool idea for a passive would have his drone be able to follow certain pings, for example, when you press h, or whatever you have it bind it to, it would create a “drone ping” only being able to be seen by the drone. It could either have two settings, stealth or agro. A stealth ping would send the drone to your ping and become almost completely invisible, maybe only a faint red light that would show it being there. Any enemies that the drone can see would be automatically scanned, possibly for 3/4 or 1/2 the time as if you were normally flying it. Agro mode would make a circle that the drone would follow around, any enemies it would see while circling around your ping, it would go to the enemies, making a louder noise and being much brighter, while sending small shocks into enemies that would only do maybe 5-10 hp. The tactical is probably the main and most important part of crypto’s kit. And while I think it’s decent, I do think the drone should fly much faster, and possibly have a way to deal damage, or do a small stun while in the drone, so you aren’t entirely useless while sitting in it. The ultimate is however, definitely the strongest part of the kit, and while I don’t think it needs a major buff, as it’s already annoying enough, possibly you could use your passive’s ping ability, and then have the drone go over and use the ultimate, however it would do less damage and maybe take longer to charge up. The actual ultimate sent out by the drone however shouldn’t deal damage or atleast not stun crypto himself.

if you hold the drone button it will throw out the drone but wont put you in it so if your in a fight you can throw it and instantly emp or use it for intel

You probably won't see this but I made my own crypto passive because let's be honest its doo doo he should be invisible to all tracking skills, valk ult, bloodhound skills and seer skills. And i called it of the grid or under the radar I hope that its something like that. And his ult should be able to be activated from his wrist and he shouldn't take damage from it, and his tactical drone should be connected to his bag so he can pick up things. (I'm a crypto main so I've thought about it alot)

I kinda main Crypto for Recon Legends. I use the drone actively when third-partying. I only EMP when being third-partied or when the trade vs 1 team goes bad, like instantaneous Q->Z since I've got no shields to lose. Passives to check banners for how many squads is really strong to know if I am going to third-party or get third-partied.

Crypto's drone can do quite a bit of things. But for recon, It's easier to be able to do something quickly or on the move. Maybe the tactical could be a spherical scan. You pick a spot to place the drone It has to be within your vision and not blocked by a window, door etc. The drone moves there in a trajectory at a quick speed. And then the passive could be the normal drone usage I suppose? I don't think it'd be crazy to have a passive that isn't really passive because Valk's passive is her jet flight. Ult could stay the same in my opinion. Doesn't solve that he's dependent on his drone but he'd be a better recon for sure.

I think a cool way to buff crypto would be to give him a small screen similar to the minimal of the drone view so you can watch certain angles

Maybe one good buff would be making it so his drone marks in the radar where your getting aimed at like the high alert perk in call of duty games

Crypto’s drone should have a ping system where you can ping where to send it. For example you’re in a firefight and you don’t have time to hop in your drone, you can ping a location and then it travels there and surveys the area. Also it should have a similar option to mirage where you can position the drone and have it move along with your movements

My thought for a cool buff would be. Tactical - The drone has two states, a follow and a manual. FollowState: Like in the trailer the drone follows Crypto around and maybe does pulse scans on a slow interval to detect players around him. ManualState - Same as usual where the player controls the drone. Ultimate - FollowState: Like Ash's ult, the player will set a waypoint for the drone to go to before using the EMP. (Though it could be easily shot down since it'll move in a straight line, but could be useful to catch teams off guard.) ManualState: Same as usual.

I don’t play him much anymore but he really is useful if you’re skilled with him, you can grab banners, hit beacons immediately, res pawn immediately with the drone and his ult is great end game.

What if you could preset a path you want the drone to take on the map? You just set it to go from A to B. Then if you want, from B to C. C to D etc. then decide if you want it to repeat this path or return after. Or even set it to follow someone (you, teammate or enemy) and if you see an enemy you can tell it to chase them and auto emp when in range. If Lifeline can auto res, crypto should be able to auto banner respawn in a similar way. (Manual banner grab but auto find the nearest beacon.)

My idea for a buff would be holding down your ability button to bring up an indicator which would allow your drone to go to the point you wish to place it at. When there it will adjust its position bas on enemies within its detection radius. By that I mean it will swivel in place to mark enemies for you not move around to avoid enemies. Tap the button to go into your drone like normal.

Some good ideas for buffs: 1. Increase drone FOV 2. Increase spotting range 3. Use ping system to make drone circle around looking at pinged area. 4. An actual passive.

The following drone would be cool and if you hold the tactical button you can manually control it

I have always thought that Seer's ability to temporarily cancel legends abilities with his tactical should be in Crypto's EMP instead. Then Seer can have his 10 damage back. A buff suggestion i have for crypto's drone is to make it go invisible when crypto isn't using it, so you have to track it with sound if you want to locate it. (It's like if crypto uses mirage's technology on his drone)

Press tactical and drone is thrown a similar way u can throw a base with a indicator where it will land and then if u wanna use it manually press tactical button a second time and it will go into drone without a boot up animation making it fast

Definitely having some sort of follow mode with a shorter range scan would be a significant buff. You'd have to give just that a go before doing anything else though - it could quickly be super powerful.

If you could send the drone out without going into it, that'd be a big buff. As others are saying, have your tactical be a "ping your drone to a certain location" while you can still move and fight and that would be super impactful.

Maybe his drone has a few stun darts and an emp but the stun darts could track the enemy for a range and or maybe his drone automatically follows his movement and he can manually use it as well

hmm thoughts on a crypto buff that might be similar to wattsons- mechanical improvements that make everything smoother without significantly changing the balance. 1. Crypto drone enter and exit speed significant buff - near instant switching to drone. 2. Right click in drone mode can make crypto run in a straight line to point (no slides or jumps) 3a. "H" button in normal mode can throw drone and send it in a straight line towards target OR 3b. drone can be thrown a distance of 25m boost and then regular drone movement resumes. (allows of slight misdirection when sending the drone out in the first place and also allows EMP to be used like a grenade if drone is not already deployed) 4. Drone speeds up with slow acceleration (stays at current speed for about 2 seconds before starting to ramp up speed - don't affect its dodging ability but just make it less clunky to get it to places it needs to be 5. Drone detect distance and angle increase (but drone hitbox increased to compensate) 6. EMP should be a smaller area but faster deploy, and remove damage to dropped shields. I think overall these are too many but I think a great way to improve a legend is not to make them more powerful but to make them more responsive and fun to play. Idk. Whoever reads this, thanks lol I'm just ramblin.

in titanfall u could have the titan follow u, or seek out enemies, maybe that kind of mechanic could be brought in for cryptos drone. so crypto doesnt have to be on his drone all the time, and midfight he doesnt get like, caught off guard

Give the drone a "sentry mode" option where it shoots targets but it has to land and setup like Torb's turret in Overwatch. Make the bullets damage shields only but not health.

Crypto needs that specific buff in fact. But I think the biggest change would be how the drone is released. It should eject from its holster to give immediate view of surroundings. That way you can still be engaged in battle while avoiding being a liability/sitting duck. The drone release alone makes him more playable.🔥

does the change to his tactical affect your opinion on crypto? being able to just throw it out and not HAVE to control it makes for quicker, easier recon. ive only played a handful of matches as crypto since but it feels more useful

I think a lot of people trying to play Crypto forget that you don't have to be in the drone to recall it or use the EMP. It opens him up a bit more, but he's still not great. I think a reasonable buff would be to increase the speed of the drone, and make the EMP completely destroy shields instead of just doing 50 damage. It should also destroy shields in deathboxes and on the floor to ruin armor swap potential. The biggest thing about Crypto is that he requires good communication and a good team composition to work. He has a ton of utility, but it's hard for him to capitalize on it by himself. He pairs really well with team-based mobility legends, as well as area-control legends. Fuse + Crypto is a surprisingly good combo for both countering campers and keeping people trapped for easy EMP plays.

I think the issues with crypto are hes entirely relaint on his drone, so if its not available hes kinda screwed, but also it takes him out of the action, and finally his ult is kinda dog water if the enemy isnt using legends that get countered by his ult. idk how to fix the first issue without completely reworking him (or maybe making his ult a grenade rather than off his drone), butmy personal changes would be to make his passive be that if the drone it s out itll follow you or move to a location the player pings, that way he doesnt have to spend so much time out of the action getting his drone in loaction, though he can manually control it to get a "sneakier" location. as for ult, maybe make it deal less damage but in turn make it so those that get hit cant use abilities for 5-10 seconds and/or make the emp go off a bit faster

Some good buffs in my opinion would be -his drone can be set to autopilot (let it fly a selected route kind of like selecting a direction to send your air strike in call of duty) -make crypto be able to have more hand free features like his drone can be out with him following behind his shoulder for a select time or just forever -make his drone more quiet? You can literally hear and see it from miles away -make it so his drone gives more detail about players or at least a proper location of where enemies are when you fly to banners in the area (similar to ashes death box data knife on a death box) -EMP shouldn’t effect crypto so much or at all? The man designed the drone why wouldn’t he create some special protection from his own EMP? 😂 I’m not saying give him ALL of these buffs but give him something there’s a lot of legends that need some help with all the new legends now that have instant height abilities or crazy mobility or instant walking UAV abilities a lot of the older legends are just getting lost in the dust or at such a huge disadvantage in a lot of areas or fights

I love Crypto and have played him a fair amount, one of the three Legends I have my highest stats on. But lately I've just been.. tired. I hate to say it, but it's best if me and my boi took a break from each other. :(

A crypto buff should include a speed buff when he comes out of his drone and a battlefield like spot that puts the drone on a singular enemy and follow them. (the enemy)

I think they should give his drone a few buffs. 1, the ability to throw his drone into position in the air and instantly ping downward without entering the drone. That way you can use it during fights quickly. And 2, a follow mode that lets the drone hover above him and mark people around him. 3, this one’s a little far fetched, but I don’t think he should take damage from his emp. That way you can use it more often in tight areas without sacrificing your own health. He takes damage to try and prevent him from pushing into the fight while emping, but with revtane and new characters like ash and valk, I think that’s a little dated at this point.

Crypto buff: Drone behaves the same as Mirage decoys. Take control of it with your regular movement relative to your own position so that it can ping and highlight enemies and stuff or take full control to scout ahead. Buff #2: can deploy EMP while drone is on his back, just centers on him.

That EMPing through walls is actually a nice strat!

I pick crypto in maps that have trees because i like seeing enemy squads get paranoid and basically that makes his scan permanent within that area we legitimately won a 3rd party situation in autumn estates bc I hid the drone in a tree where all squads were fighting, that really helped my squad push with perfect info

I want the option to emp while the drone is recalled. Run into a building emp while still suffering the effects. It's a trade off.

Give crypto the interrupt effect seer has when he emps! I've been saying this since i tried him ages ago. He needs like a hack/silence effect on that ultimate

I feel like crypto has some of the most potential among the legends but it’s being wasted at the moment. I feel like you should be able to transform his drone into something a bit bigger, something that can be more aggressive but then possibly passive. Like a combination of gibby’s shield and seer’s ult. like everyone inside a certain proximity of the emp suffers consistent damage (small damage to shield only) until they are out of the drones range as his ult but you dont take damage from it. idk. Also quicker getting in and out of the drone. Also adding more to him other than his drone. Possibly being able to hack stuff without the drone. For example, when you see a trap be able to actually take it and move it because he can hack. They can do a lot more with his character.

I think it would be really cool if they added a feature to him where with his drone he can hack another teams banner and for like 30 seconds possess that characters ability. For example if he hacked a Bangalore banner he could use her smoke but only once and it has a timer on it.

There's an important rule for playing Crypto: When you're near enemies, you shouldn't stay on the drone for more than 3 seconds. This isn't written on stone, but is a good reference. The trick is to quickly take it out to somewhere enemies might be and then continue fighting. The drone can be recalled and/or repositioned later during the fight, and enemies usually pay more attention to incoming gunfire than to the drone.

Drone behind you is kinda op I think, just that the drone can grab a bit of loot I would be good

To fix him for pick rates make the drone follow him or have it automatically fly slowly fowards till it reaches the max distance and have it either stop or be recalled for a longer time

I just want them to remove the animation when you go in/out of the drone view, it should be instant. You shouldn't wait 1.5s before you can use ability that requires such precise set up. I remember in season 7, when holo-spray glitch allowed you to skip the animation, and it felt so satisfying for Crypto to be faster, and more responsive.

It would be cool to see Crypto use his EMP grenades like his preview trailor, even if his drone is destroyed.

Buff should include the following. Go invisible when you take a knee to activate your drone. Enemies take more damage while they are scanned (ability). His ultimate stays the same as far as emp but you have the option to designate a location, kind of like Ash, for your drone to emp. I've been playing crypto since I started playing back in June of this yr and although he's cool looking, he definitely needs some love. Those are my buff wish list. Fingers crossed.

I like the ai drone idea. being able to ping an area and your drone flyover would be big.

Maybe respawn could buff Crypto's drone to have a waypoint system, crypto draw a scout line on the map and it just fly and scan, something like a real drone could do. A passive like the drone following crypto around for a certain amount of time would be good too, if worry about it being op, make it to sound louder so enemy can hear it miles away.

He's actually super useful in Storm Point as the map is much larger. I've been really successful with him this season but if they buffed him with higher drone speed, along with being invisible (like Mirage when he's respawning for say, 10 -15 sec.) then he would be hella good.

As a Crypto main who been playing him since season 3 sadly crypto's emp dosent interrupt legends even though he should be able to since it is an EMP and most legends do use eletriconic based devices and using a shield cell/battary is powering a shield around you. So technicaly his emp should be doing more things rather than just a simple 50 damage to armor. When seer came out i saw Seer's q as like Crypto's emp but in a stright line. I really wished Crypto had this interrupt ability as well with his drone. The Issue is that when Crypto emp goes off. You have 5-6 seconds to push a team. 5-6 is enough to pop a battary or 2 cells. If you dont have a legend who can support you going in and out then you used a crypto ult for nothing caustic can just spam his 3 barrels back up real easily and wattson can place her next pylon. Thats why im still on the side of lets revert his stun on teammates back to no stun on teammates because even tho crypto rev meta was a thing back then im confident that now we have legends who can defend against a rev push pretty well and rev has had alot of changes to how his death totem. With Wattson ,Caustic, and Rampart now changed i think reverting the Crypto stun on teammates can be a good change. Along with a interrupt like how seer is but a bit longer duration. Now your prob asking but wouldnt this make Rev's Q useless. No Rev has a 20 second disable while Crypto will get just a few seconds. His Movement As a Crypto main its very easy to get left behind and playing catch up SUCKS if you have no jump pad spamming octane or a nice wraith to portal you you will fall behind VERY EASILY. I agree that having a ping and point for the drone will fix this issue but i agree that crypto should deploy it first and then ping and go and one more thing id change change the cool down from 40 seconds to 30. No other legend has a longer cool down than Crypto. Even tho Crypto has his flaws i still love him

What if crypto drone had a follow or stationary option or allow multiple use of drones at the same time with decrease emp blast radius. More drones=smaller emp radius or follow option with decrease sight

Buff 1: Ultimate EMP charges up the RADIUS of effect as opposed to having to wait to use it at 100% instead. Example: If you have his Ult charged to 50%, then the AOE is reduced by 50% which would mean that that the player would have to fly the drone closer to the target(s) at the risk of having it shot down before being able to pop it off while being granted the ability to use it way more often. High risk - high reward type of thing. Buff 2: Whenever Crypto uses a scan beacon, it pings all of the remaining players on the map for a limited amount of time making his passive ideal for rushing teams down and picking better fights Buff 3: He can send his drone out in autopilot in a straight line that flies rather slowly so it’s easy to spot and shoot down and will add to his cool down; giving him a 3rd variable cool down on top of his “drone return” and “drone shot down” cool down times. Buff 4: His EMP should shatter Gibraltar shields and temporarily disable the force field portions of Rampart’s barriers as well as Shiela even if it is mobile.

heres my idea for a rework Crypto's drone becomes his passive, his q is now a scanning projectile that crypto or his drone can throw out with the same arc as a frag grenade. This projectile (the eye of his drone maybe?) scans in an orb around it continuously until destroyed. The orb can only be destroyed after a few seconds. This rework would free crypto from constantly going into his drone to do anything while still giving his drone a meaningful use by letting him get creative with the angles on his Q-orb throw.

Maybe a good Crypto buff is to use the mouse to guide his drone instead of using the shift and control key. Like W+Mouse would make the drone fly in any direction see instead of needing the shift and control often. Could make drone mechanics much better.

a good ability could be he can make his drone invisible fo 30 secounds or so in my opinion because his drone is slow and it gets shot down pretty quick

I feel like as well as actual buffs crypto should get more context specific voice lines like doing a lot of damage with an emp or even just for spotting enemies
