Is Newcastle better than Gibraltar?? (Newcastle Speculation - Apex Legends) 

To answer your question, no. As long as Gibby’s dome shield is indestructible he will always be picked in high level play. All of Newcastle’s abilities can be broken. If respawn ever made the decision to make Gibby’s dome breakable then maybe Newcastle’s might have a chance 👀

Unless Gibby is nerfed, he will continue to be the single strongest legend I think.

The real question is will Maggie’s drill stick in his rez shield ????

One aspect of LifeLines revive I never see utilized for some reason, is her ability to remote cancel the revive. If your teammate is being thirsted, just cancel it and then the enemy has to shoot a knockdown that pops up suddenly, creating a nice distraction and allowing you to take the advantage.

I understand wanting to compare him to Lifeline, but I don't understand the Gibby comparisons. Of course he's not gonna replace Gibby. If anything they'll be perfect on the same team. Newcastle is meant to be a movable cover, whereas Gibby essentially creates a temporary building.

I think the players that play Gibby aggressively will benefit from the switch.

He's still the best offensive and defensive Legend in the game. Newcastle can do one thing right which is to create a defensive countermeasure but he can't deal more damage other than his gun. Gibraltar has a dome shield to protect and best of all his bombardments which will cause emotional damage from the sky. I don't think any Legend comes close with those 2 sets of kit. As great as Newcastle's kit can be, Gibby always has the edge in all directions.

I want gibbys shield to have just enough HP to withstand his own ULT, otherwise, you should be able to shoot the shield generator and it should have crypto drone levels of HP

Newcastle is gonna be great in late game though. His mobile shield will be great when you’re getting shot at while moving with the zone.

yeah I agree with that. I think the only one who might lose it all the way would be Lifeline. Everything is going mobile for ease access and her abilities might become useless at some point. Newcastle is basically Lifeline + Rampart combined so Gibby will still have the higher pick rate in the long run

For being a defensive legend gibby is one of the most offensive legends in the game and that'd the problem

Newcastle feels like he will fit a new role rather then be a replacement They could also be used together for a double shield comp

Honestly, watching the ALGS finals this week has made me want to revisit Gibby. It was never that I wasn't aware of his power - in fact there was a time when it was kind of cheesy to use him in pubs because he was so good - but I'd been distracted by so many other legends. His true power only really comes into play with valk ults though. That play is the most powerful combo in the game.

I just thought of a cool buff to Lifeline's package. What if the level of loot scaled as the match went on? At the beginning of the match, it will function like it does now, giving you an upgrade for an item you or a teammate has. When there are 6 teams or less, the care package will guarantee a care package gun.

newcastle is more of a defense legend, gibraltar's ult can be used for attacking. gibby can do everything.

the thing u said .. in pub probably not cuz movement.. but if u look at his ultimate.. he seems to make a 75m leap to teammates.. so like.. all 4 or 5 platforms in shooting range.. so if u fall behind or some1 else its pretty easy to jump back/forth really fast with him^^

Newcastle will be good for those open areas of the map that have cover. Gibby only offers a temporary reprieve while Newcastle may be able to better hold down those spots.

I feel like there will be alot of lifelines gibbys and newcastle combos in the game a team like that will be almost impossible to kill, but we will have to see in the new season.

The best part about Newcastle is about to be that lunge. The ability to get to a teammate with his ult is insane. That said his ult looks very flawed. The walls aren’t gonna be effective if there is third parties. If you fuck up the direction of his ult you can’t redirect it like his tactical, and his ult provides no aerial cover from nade spams and air strikes. Definitely better than lifeline but not gibby. Gibby is just too fundamentally good in apex. Newcastle is more situational than gibby.

A lifeline buff is maybe her ult is the instant heal from dummys big day (instantly heals everyone near them to full) as a combat medic this fits for combat

with new castle as another defensive hero to compete, i think it would be nuts if lifeline also get a buff, bring her shield back but to her tactical instead, so she also have a deployable shield and heal to compete as defensive/support

To answer the question on if Newcastle's got Fortified. He does. I see his revive being the selling point for him. With the revive shield scaling with your knockdown and all. Plus I see him as a legend for people who can't play gibby well but still want a tanky legend.

I’ve been a Gibby main since I got back into apex around season 7 or 8 because I’ve always really liked his character and play style. When I got shards I bought his heirloom without hesitation. It makes me sad that so many people strongly dislike him almost solely because of his bubble. I’ve always found it a lot of fun to be able to save your teammates by throwing your dome at them but I do understand where peoples’ frustrations with him come from

he reminds me of sigma w/ orisa from OW. but I'm scared he may create a siege meta or something like 3v3 meta in OW, again .

I think they should give lifeline her revive shield back but have it like a gibby arm shield where it has a set amount of hp but not invulnerable, maybe like 80hp or more for it

newcastle shield got health like down shield, probably having something to do with down shield. also i think i will play him like play ash on gravity cannon, or octance combo

I really want NewCastle to work support legends are always a plus for me to pull Wraith and Octane mains constantly out the fire. But really the only advantage over Gibby is that he can move when rezing. So an ability that might not even be used in fights. But hey it took this much buffs to make Gibby viable now we need to do the same to NewCastle

I think Newcastle’s heirloom would be the mechanic torch. Like what he has in the art on the apex site. Caustics heirloom is like a hammer already.

Honestly no I don't think so, simply because of the fact that he can't protect against airstrikes. Which is why if we ever see him in top level of play he's going to be run in a team like Gibby, Valk, or Newcastle. I have a team I want to try out tho and see if I find success with it and that's Newcastle, Valk, and Wattson. Wattson has always had some problems with her like can't bring her kit into the thick of things and fight and on paper it seems to me that Newcastle should cover up that weakness just a bit. His ultimate looks like ondemand cover for her gen in my opinion, which can patch up his main weakness which is going to be airstrikes and nades IMO. She might be able to help him play buildings a lot more effectively as well. IDK I could be very wrong which is why I believe this comp warrants testing, it's the only way I see newcastle being used over gibby at top level of play. I don't think it'll be bad tho, it should work well. Other then this stuff tho I think he's gonna be a great aggro defense character that looks a lot more fun to play then gibby.

IMO newcastle will probably new meta, Gibraltar + Newcastle + Valkyrie meta.

I think it's just going to be situational on who's better, similar to most things on Apex haha

SAME @kandyrew! Ive been playing since Season 0 and for the first time ive been ACTUALLY picking Gibby constantly and im just now noticing how good he really is In my opinion: Gibby will always be a meta because of how good the shield is AND his ultimate is clutch especially in end circles.

Absolutely not. Gibby's kit is fundamentally broken and unless he receives substantial nerfs nobody will be a better tank/defensive legend than him.

I don't know. I've got crazy rezes on both teammates with Newcastle mid-fight turning 3v1's into 3v3's. So many games would've sent us right back to the lobby if I was Gibby due to having no mobility while rezzing and a quick shield to protect my teammate while he pops a quick batt. I literally just immediately yank my teammate away, rez, and drop them a mobile shield, then fight. It's completely OP. With Gib, once your teammates are down, you gotta take that fight solo unless there's some distance. Gibby bubble is CRAZY, but once it is used, you are S.O.L.

He does have fortify. I dont think he will take gibbys place in the long run, but I do think he will be tried out and sort of "auditioned" in a way because of his rez

I mean that’s basically every defensive legend that exists in Apex. They dont get picked that much in pubs, but get picked a lot more in ranked(mostly high level ranked) and in the competitive scene. Can barely even see people using Gibby in pubs, the movement and recon legends gets a lot picked more.

I feel like Newcastle will be a perfect medium for ranked players. for example, in pubs no one really picks gibby and stick to movement... and in ranked, unless its master or pred, gibby rarely is picked in the lower ranks, I think Newcastle will kinda be that middle ground for ranked players who don't necessarily NEED a gibby in the lower ranks.

Newcastle's skills have no roof which means they can't protect u from enemy gibby ult or vert nades. sadly it can never be better than gibby.

I think it's better to compare newcastle to rampart than to Gibby. Gibby's abilities are a hybrid of offense and defense. Whereas Newcastle seems to be mostly defensive.

Lifeline, Gibby pair is such a strong Duo! But will Newcastle be a combination of the two??!

Gibraltar is gonna be a a easier to use safer legends to play so he will commonly be picked more but Newcastle is and offensive defense legend great for pushing he will take good skill and technique to play therefore probably used a lot in higher ranked matches
