In this video we review the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 lens. It's quite possibly the only lens you need.

I have and love this lens. It's on my camera 99% of time and I switch with 24 GM when I need wider angle. Quality it's amazing, and can replace prime lens 1.8 from 35 to 50. It's superb

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have only just recently been able to buy mine as I was in Malaysia on vacation. For the last 2years I have been trying to order this from Mauritius and nobody would get it so finally I have ut and its amazing, everything I hoped. Its fast and accurate and sharp. Perfect 2 cam setup for events with a super wide angle for those moments and this lens for everything else. I am a lover of primes but dont love changing lenses and this just works. Auto focus is also so far better than my sigma 24-70 which is sharp but misses, even on my A9. Think this will suit me so well for portraits, event and maybe sports. So versatile. Thank you Tamron for doing it so well.

Welcome to the club, I loooove this lens. Build quality is almost identical to that of the Sigma 24/70 Art, which now lives in my bag as a backup lens should I require 24mm. The 35-150 really does it all. Probably the most versatile focal range out there! Shooting weddings with just one lens ... I thought it was not possible ... until this lens!!

I've had that lens since the time it was released and love it. It is my main lens for theater events with the second camera having the 20 G if needed. I only switch to the 70-200 GM II when I know I can get by using that range (second camera gets the 24-70 GM II for what few shots that might be needed).

I have this lens, and yes, it’s absolutely amazing, in almost every single way, other than weight. I bought the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GMII with my A7RV and whilst it now makes sense to sell it, I’ve decided to keep it for when I want to carry a camera around all day, because as optically wonderful as the Tamron 35-150 is, it really is a beast.

The fact it opens up to F2 on the wide side is amazing let alone the focal range but for what I do I still prefer a 24-70 & 70-200mm range, a lot of my images are captured around the 25-35mm range especially my weddings for the preps, ceremony and dancing. I could swap the 24-70 for a 16-35 and 35-150 pairing, but I’m still back to a two body system and a heavy one.

Which setup would you recommend me to pair with Sony A7RV + Tamron 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 if I will use it/them mainly for ultrawide and everyday photos with crop, video will be shoot mainly with Panasonic HC-X1500 25-600mm?: 1) Sony 12-24mm F4 2) Tamron 17-50mm F4 3) Laowa 10-18mm F4.5-5.6 + 17-50mm First one cover more range but not sure if they will update this 6 years old lens soon, second is the same Tamron series but cover less range, third get even wider range but will be 3 lenses, I think the first is more practical for me, but what do you think, did I missed anything?

I used it for over a year as my primary workhorse until about two weeks ago. The thing feels better than any Tamron lens. I did regret selling my 70200 GMii though simply because after the first time it broke, I just couldn't trust it. I've sent the lens in 3 times for things going wrong and even though the focal length is everything I want, it always made me a little nervous :O

Interesting question of the beloved focal lengths! However, I would miss the 30 mm, my favorite. So, even "more perfect" would be the range 30-150 or 30-135. Also, it would be difficult to live without the 35 or the 40 mm.

Bought the 70-180 right after launch... then was amazed of the potential and idea (and build quality, and optics, vs. the 70-180!), and bought the 35-150 2-2.8 shortly after its released. And it's great and very practical for a lot of things. However, it's good to also have a 24-70 f/2.8 or 28-75 f/2.8 for times when you don't need all that range but you sure need a lighter and smaller thing to carry.

this lens cannibalizes the 70-180. at least it did in my case :) very happy with the range and image quality. yes I miss a little bit on the short end, but... I always have the 17-28 with me. basically... I agree 100% For concert photograpy it's a huge winner

Didn’t think I’d care that much about the weight considering I lift weights 5 times a week. But honestly I constantly swap this on and off my camera at a wedding because I just don’t want it hanging around my neck or flipping around at my side. I never bring it on commercial shoots where I have time to setup shots. It sucks bc I realllly wanted to like this lens and I really wonder if having it a 2.8 all the way though (which is how I always use it anyway) would have made it just right. Also I have occasional autofocus issues at 150 on both of my a7/4 bodies. It’s a great lens but it could have been just a little bit better. Def wouldn’t sell what I’m using now to buy it. More of a “this situation calls for something that does it all tool.”

I know it's blasphemy, but if you only use one lens then I'm in favor of the Nikon P1000 lens (it comes with an attached camera :) ). When photographing in nature, I constantly use the maximum "zoom" or the maximum "wide view". It is true that the electronics of the camera are bad, but when photographing an animal across the river, you cannot get more pixels on the animal with any other camera, even if the other camera has a huge sensor with lots of pixels.

For video I paired it with the Sony 16-35mm f4 powerzoom, so you have the full zoom range from 16 to 150mm on full frame. For wide angle lenses f4 matters less, as you will have deep depth of field anyway, but it comes at a small price in terms of higher ISO values. I like the compactness of that lens too.

People can talk so much about this lens, but let's take a step back. Some even complain about the variable aperture while they're carrying a fixed F2.8 lens. You can use this lens on fixed F2.8, no problem. You get a 35mm F2.0 prime as a bonus. I basically used it all the time since I got it. The only downside is the weight, but i don't mind it.

A decade ago, I could only afford one lens and chose a tamron 17-280 as an all-around lens... as good of a job it did, stupid thing wore out... I pushed that piece of glass forward and back like a mo fo, and 3 years later, it wouldn't focus anymore without a focus screen, and even then, I had to retire that glass. For this reason, I'm a little apprehensive about dropping money on Tamron, but at least now I know not to rely on only one lens.
