Hey all! Once again you guys were making some great points in the comments so I will pin this extra info here: -Fulmination is a better enchant on the Werlig Spear for extra lightning damage. However it is a Caldera enchant so I never recommend it in case people don't do the New Sirocco Building. That extra lightning damage is definilty better though. -Starchild claymore works very well here as does any good lightning weapon. The idea was to make a Werlig spear build but its pretty versatile to work with other weapons. -The Krypteia armor technically have better stats for lightning damage bonus, but after a thorough look at the set it does not have the quality of life aspects I generally prefer. But it can work for just more damage if you want. -The Fabulous Palladium shield and radient wolf sword would make a great combo here as well ( Will O Wisp is not as good just because it offers 7% bonus but you get 25% weaken to elements from paldium). Gold Lich Shield is also very good but this is if you want a one handed option rather than using a spear. -Sky Chimes could greatly benefit this build as well since it weakens enemies to lightning by 25%. -Overall there is a lot of options to play around with here considering the weapon itself can be swapped and you still have the great stats from armor and skill trees. -Thanks for the tips as always!

You can get much more from Lightning build. The reason for that is that it is one of two easy to stack % damage types. Others would be Physical. More than that you can stack resistance debuff for even more damage. Things to optimize: 1) Radiant Wolf Sword + Fabulous Palladium Shield. Better base damage 34 vs 24 Lightning. Better enchantment Fulmination (+5 Flat Lightning Damage). Elemental Vulnerability (-25% All non physical resistances) from shield when using Shield Charge. Puncture an offensive low cool down skill that deals x2 HP and Stability damage. 3) Palladium Boots with Flux. 1% more Impact resistance, 15% Decay resistance if you compare to Orichakcum Boots (Legacy). 4) Tenebrous Helm with Chaos and Creativity. More Lightning Damage, elemental resistances and Movement speed. 5) Rogue Engineer Stealth vs Advanced Traps. Your % Lightning Damage does affect trap damage and the last passive provides even more base damage to multiply. Really useful in hard boss fights, even one trap can drastically change your battle plans. 6) Instead of Warrior Monk I would progress with Kazite Spellblade, having better Breakthrough and ranged Lightning attack on low cool down. 7) Doom Hex or Velkin Ring. Source of Doom (-25% Lightning Resistance). One is a low cool down melee attack the other is a permanent area debuff. This allows you to have a total -50% Lightning Resistance on any enemy. 8) Lightning Varnish instead of any other buff. Varnishes provide much more damage than any other buff due to the flat +15 damage it provides.

I know it's late, but I want to thank you. I just started playing Outward and am following this guide - it's pretty fun and the damage is phenomenal. I have some modifications, I don't know if I could have your opinion on them: 1. For some matchups, I use the Gold-Lich Shield instead of the Fabulous Palladium Shield, due to its elemental damage. The Elemental Vulnerability status was achieved by firing once with the Chimera Pistol, which combos with Sigil of Wind for more elemental damage. 2. Although I understand the recommendation with Kazite Spellblade, wouldn't Hex Mage be better? Bloodlust is awesome, but what we're really interested in is Lockwell's Revelation, which increases our elemental damage even more.
@CPyJIb
@CPyJIb 8 месяцев назад
@@moises.gaviriaeverything works. Hex mage gives the quality of life breakthrough. It's hard to sustain Lockwell, you can carry Poutine (bought from caravaners), but it's too much of a hassle for me personally.

Hex mage is mostly useful for pure magic builds imo because you have to be tired to get the buff and it reduces your stamina efficiency by a ton...that passive is the most OP passive skill in the game for mages but for any spellblade build I really don't recommend it

@SheenShots Год назад
Awesome! Glad you are enjoying me goof off lol. I think Outward is one of the more difficult games when you start out because knowing is half the battle. Each enemy has weird move sets and often the more challenging ones gain additional move sets once you get their health below half. This makes enemies seem like impossible challenges. I highly recommend going with a build that can block well. This way you can just take attacks for a bit and understand what the enemy is capable of. But always avoid AoE attacks as those aren't blockable lol. Hopefully you continue to enjoy the game. It can be frustrating at times, but getting a hang of it is pretty rewarding.

I suggest changing the reveal souls to a simple doom hex...there are very few scenarios where you need to reveal a soul in the middle of a fight(unless when playing a hex mage) therefore it really has no benefit in being there where as a simple doom hex can increase the damage of this build by a lot
@reed3863
@reed3863 17 дней назад
I went for radiant wolf sword, rust lich helmet, silver armor with spirit of monsoon and scarlet boots with flux for my full lightning build. Obviously I had to pass down the boots since that's from the last boss himself. Picked holy mission for the defensive passives and free lightning imbue, as well as the 10% lightning damage bonus..and most importantly, for the sword, which I enchant with Fulmination later after building the respective building in new sirocco. When managed properly, one can have the imbue and the blessed boon up together at all times to take advantage of the extra damage and buff without having to rely on potions. Bought a chimera pistol for elemental vulnerability, and kept the cannon pistol from pidgeoneye chest for the confusion, and to open fights to safely land Doom Hex. Having a fast single handed sword have more than 120 lightning damage before factoring in the resistance reduction from elemental vulnerability and doom on enemy..you know the enemy's not gonna last long. Doesn't even include the light menders backpack, potions and lockwell's revelation too to reach that number. I picked the Blood bullet, shamonic resonance and bloodlust breakthroughs. Bloodlust is just so I don't need to drink teas as often for the burnt stats, and it's nice to have since we're fighting a lot of mobs. I usually have frost bullet on chimera pistol to deal with more than one enemy since the shot is an aoe. Running around with jewelbird mask, barrier armor/master trader garb and master trader boots(with flux) with the swift foot passive is just amazing. All that, on Hardcore as well.

Definitely not a min max build but I sometimes I prefer that over OP builds. What do you think of the White Wide Hat instead of the Master Desert Hood for this build? It goes with the aesthetics, but offers lower damage protection overall. Is the extra damage worth it? On a similar line, what do you think about the gold lich boots?

I recently noticed that the Scholar's Staff and Calygrey Staves offer 20% lightning damage bonus as well as high mana reduction, could be a good alternative for anyone wanting to focus on magic instead of melee. Also would recommend Rust Lich Helmet, White Arcane Hood or White Wide Hat for the same reason. Another alternative is the Radiant Wolf Sword with the Gold Lich Shield. Don't forget the Doom Hex! I've been wanting to do something cool with the Werlig Spear, so thanks for this cool build!

@SheenShots
@SheenShots Год назад
The lightning explosion is from a skill called spark. You will need to cast it inside sigils for it to deal damage such as the explosion. This skill is automatically learned one you grab mana. It however, can't be learned otherwise as it requires mana to use. Its extremely low mana cost and deals tons of damage. Great in a magic melee hybrid build such as this.
@lordandragor8448
@lordandragor8448 Год назад
I was just wondering, if you go like a mixed build, i.e. master kazite helmet with assassin to boost physical and impact, then silver chest for the increased lightning then either master kazite boots with assassin again, or runic boots with speed and efficiency? How would that go for a build with no wind sigil? I'm about to start my first three brothers playthrough and I've read that enemies there are really resistant to physical and my build is pure physical, so I was wondering if I could maybe do a hybrid build and I would carry around the Werlig and maybe Starchild just to switch them in case the durability gets too low and I don't have time to repair. Also one thing, I'm not a min-maxer by any means, I didn't go heroic kingdom to get that 15% damage boost or whatever, I finished holy mission instead, to get a bit bulkier. I could maybe use the candleplate boots with ellat's sanctity.
@SheenShots
@SheenShots Год назад
So people love to hype up Caldera for physical resistance. And on once side they are right. Using only physical can lead to long fights. HOWEVER, almost every build should be using varnishes and rags to properly take down different enemy types. And Caldera is like the place for this. A build like this would work great and probably be a lot of fun. Just make sure to craft varnishes. Decay and ethereal will get your through almost everything.

Good build, but I would put fulmination on the Werlig Spear, especially since you are buffing lightning anyway. Also the weapon imbues, including infuse light, seem to calculate based on total weapon damage, and the poltergeist enchant lowers the overall damage of the weapon by replacing less raw than the physical it removes. Fulmination is very late game, but since you are using the legacy chest for the master desert veil and orichalcum boots, I would legacy chest a Werlig Spear with fulmination as well. Just my thoughts.
@SheenShots
@SheenShots Год назад
Yes the Fulmination enchant would definitely be a better option. Out of principle I never advise Caldera Enchants just because I figure there might be many people with those not available. However you are correct. Just buffing up the damage even more would highly benefit the percentage increase of damage compared to just a bit of raw. Great point!

Ya for sure! I have been looking for a good build with the ghost reaper. Probably one of the coolest weapons in the game because it looks awesome and has several interesting abilities. I will say Caldera will be really easy and really hard with it. Half the enemies die quickly to decay while the other half take no damage at all lol. Mostly just avoid medese. Calygreys, torecrabs, and mymatures will be nothing though.
@derausmpark

So your video has inspired me to create a another build again, but I'm in dire need of the fine tuning... Equipment: Radiant wolfsword and frozen chakram (canon and chimera-pistol in BP for status application with shatter bullet, LM-lexicon for buffing) Rusted lich helmet, silver armor enchanted with SoM, Candleplate boots with elatts sanctity (boots may need replacement). Also have the Totem if needed. Skills: I'm using wind sigil and spark/conjure for tougher enemies, but the go to is brace for discipline, chakram ark/pierce for impact and puncture for damage. Have chosen Cabal Hermit for shamanic resonance/wind sigil and Hexmage for bloodlust and lockwells. Playstyle: I'm always at least 50% tired, so my 40 mana point refill automatically (also bloodlust), my elemental damage is increased and I have the infuse light and blessed boon and Runic protection active all the time. My character is also addicted to level 5 stamina regen. I have a ghost buddy around as often as possible, more helpful than you may think. Most enemies get shredded with above mentioned skills and I managed to clear all Caldera dungeons available before starting the faction quest (of course holy mission). Was a struggle at first, but eventually I got used to the tougher enemies. Question: What should I invest the final Breakthrough in? 1. Warrior Monk for perfect strike? (since discipline is required for chakram anyways) 2. Speedster for protection and CDR? (afraid of resistance decrease) 3. Kazite for elemental discharge? (don't know if 4. Ritualist for nurturing echo and battle rhythm? (totem olaystyle feels a little slow, tho) 5. Rune Sage for better buffs? Any thoughts you have on this essay is very appreciated! :)
@SheenShots
@SheenShots 8 месяцев назад
Well you are actually in such a unique spot where you are so good on your gear and skills that you can choose any other tree you want and be good. Here are the benefits: Ritualist: More defense, instant application of two hexes, more elemental damage, chakrams hit the totems nicely Rune Sage: BUFFS, ya that's it but they are really strong, healing, defense, traps, all good stuff Speedster: Cooldown works wonders with chakrams but speedster has always been a little challenging to use with a mage Warrior monk: More stamina and two really good attack spells. Rogue engineer: Infinite dodging and wear your backback Mercenary: Movement speed and infinite running Ultimately I would say the best benefit you could get is Ritualist as it just pairs well with what you have. But that's a lot of prep every time you fight. So Rogue engineer actually is a very nice fit thus giving you a chance to wear the lightning buff backpack and save yourself on dodging. Warrior monk also works instead because of the stamina, but chakrams eat up your skill slots. Of the choices you picked, warrior monk is the one I would choose. And I would not recommend kazite spellblade for this. Hopefully that helps you out! Thanks for watching the content and I wish you luck.

I recommend using Fulmination instead of Poltergeist. Here are some examples that shows how much damage each enchantment does. Enemy | Dmg \w Fulmination | Dmg \w Poltergeist Normal Resistance Enemy: Sword Golem (25 Physical Resistance , 0 Lightning Resistance) | 56 | 49 High Physical & Lightning Resistance Enemy: Gargoyle (65 Physical Resistance, 50 Lightning Resistance) | 22 | 24 High Lightning Resistance Enemy: Arcane Elemental Fire (10 Physical Resistance, 60 Lightning Resistance) | 38 | 34 Extremely High Physical & Lightning Resistance Enemy: Golden Specter Melee (Physical Resistance ,Lightning Resistance) | 13 | 17 Setup: Similar to the one in the video. Head: Master Desert Veil Body Armor: Silver Armor [Spirit of Monsoon] Boots: Orichalcum [Flux] Backpack: Lightmender's Backpack Weapon: Werlig Spear [Poltergeist/Fulmination] The test did not take into account buffs (nor passives) such as discipline, blessed, shimmer, etc, which would affect fulmination more than poltergeist due to it being more easily boostable. Infact if you just use boons (blessed and discipline), Fulmination does the same amount of damage as poltergeist to gargoyles (26 vs. 26) leaving very few cases where poltergeist is better.
