Tmac is my favorite player of all time....but he deserves this respect(unbiased). Salute to Mike for that a lot of people dump on tracy but my guy the nid 2000s was different and he got 2 scoring titles during that time while being one of the faces that represented the East along with A.I.. HELL him and kobe was the marquee matchup for the all star game one year

Kobe was not afraid of playing anyone he loved competition. Tracey was a great player and very competitive as well, we would have witness even more epic battles if he had not been injured. Tracey and Kobe were close before entering the NBA and loved competing against each other, but neither was "afraid " of the other

TMAC was the evolutional step between Dominique Wilkins and Kevin Durant. He was ready to declare to there was no question and still shouldn’t be at all and I’m glad he went to Orlando and showed out it was some of the best individual basketball I’d ever seen.

Doc Rivers has sold countless times, but the Tim Duncan one is always one of the more incredible ones to me. Like you have a Finals MVP, perennial 1st team and future MVP asking if his family can get on the team plane and u decide nah? TMac and Duncan win a ring whether Grant is healthy or not argue with a wall

T-Mac was a taller, more athletic version of Kobe, according to Kobe himself. T-Mac had the total package. The problems with T-Mac were that he could never stay healthy and he could never get out of the first round of the playoffs while being “the” guy on all his teams. If T-Mac had been more durable, had better teammates, and had won a championship or two, then his legacy as a player might have been more impressive than it already is. T-Mac was an incredible player no doubt, but he could have done and been so much more.

@@HDX21It goes deeper. If Magic hadn't retired the off-season right before the Lakers got Shaq and Kobe, we could have seen Magic giving passes to Shaq. Then when the Lakers got Phil Jackson, Jordan was planning to join them but injured his finger cutting a cigar, and that season the Lakers won a Championship so Jordan decided ot to join. The potentially greatest Basketball team of Magic, Jordan, Kobe, Shaq and with McGrady coming off the bench, could have potentially happened. If Magic doesn't retire early that second time, we could have gotten a starting lineup of Magic, Kobe, Jordan and Shaq and McGrady off the bench, with Phil Jackson as coach...

In their prime, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter were the best cousins in NBA history. When they were younger, Carter and McGrady were NBA players who drew comparisons to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.

Tracy was great … but it wasn’t as close as ppl like to put it . Kobe’s on ball defense was amazing. Don’t let the stats get it twisted , bc if that is the case tmac would be better than Duncan as well during that time , but we all know that wasn’t the case . But tmac was definitely amazing , and would have been an all time great if it wasn’t for injuries

TMac was my favorite player. I’m from the Bay Area and they aired rockets vs spurs one night where he scored 13 points in 33 secs. I was only 9 and that blew my damn mind. He was better then Kobe in my eyes

He wasn't better per say he jus didn't have the restrictions Kobe did tmac had green light 2 go nuts also he was lil taller than kob I loved him n yao 2gether that was fun basketball 2 watch when they weren't injured. But kobe had 2 play within the team most of his career Shaq wanted 2 be the 1st option u saw what kobe could do 9 straight games 40 pts or more n cudve kept going in 03 but Shaq came back n demanded the ball coach said get him the ball. I love tmac but I wouldn't say he was flat out better he jus had better circumstances n idk if he had mentality 2 be a champion that remained 2 be seen. Was hoping he wud get at least 1 tho him n yao. But either way both him n Kobe phenomenal talent.

Fun fact. T Mac almost became a Laker on draft night. The deal was all but done and Buss cancelled it because he was in win now mode and didn't want Shaq to babysit another highschool kid. Hypothetically though if Kobe never goes to LA and TMac goes instead he'd be Kobe. He'd have won titles with Shaq. Maybe even more than Kobe did because he wouldn't have that beef with him and maybe Shaq retires as a Laker. After that who knows maybe T Mac wins with his own team. This is all barring any big injuries of course.

I said the same thing about the Raptors situation back then. They took it to 7 games against the 76ers without T-Mac. The next round the Bucks lost in 6 before the Sixers lost in 5. Tracy was the missing piece on that team. Glad I'm not the only one who spotted it lol.

In that season where both of them were MVP candidates (2002-2003 season), the Magic had a better winning percentage than the Lakers did without Shaq. If Duncan didn't win MVP, T-Mac was the next deserving player to win it.

Kobe Bryant WAS what Tracy McGrady would've been if 2 things had happened: 1. Tracy doesn't get career threatening injuries early on. He got so hurt, so often, that it messed up his chances of doing much. 2. Yao Ming doesn't go down all the time. Yao also got injured way too often. Those 2 healthy, with even a decent support cast could have won multiple NBA titles. Shaquille O'neal after he played against Yao Ming and said "I put him in the same class as Hakeem Olojowon, He can't stop me, but I can't stop him either."

No one has the crystal ball or time stone where they can look into all different outcomes per major decision....that's just a fact of life. But the decision to leave for Orlando wasn't a bad one or unlucky it was the roll of the dice outcome. Grant Hill was damaged goods in Detroit and Orlando knew the risk prior to him being traded there. The Toronto Raptors made their bed by not starting one of their greatest high school prospects. So the time spent on the bench was the fault of Canada. Tracy McGrady will forever be a favorite at the shooting guard for the spectators that watched his play live and for the NBA connoisseur that watches NBA film. He's a version of todays Paul George without the on court time management to prevent injury and with a ton of assertive scoring aggression, he truly makes Paul George look docile but he's cut from Vince' cloth. I think him being so closely related to Vince Carter and Vince Carter winning a chip will forever keep T-Mac in the thoughts of spectators when they include their "What If" thoughts with rosters made of the chipless players because for the time in Toronto while they both played.....they truly had too many moments where they looked like a steroid version of MJ and Scotty for anyone to forget.😎
