It is through these snippets that I have decided I need to get tgese on DVD and watch this show. Of course, we will never know, if many of these scenes took place this way, but it still looks interesting.

after this season i became so embarrassingly invested in their relationship that i looked up old news articles and stuff from the 60s to read the gossip of the time. from what i gather this scene sums up the relationship. apparently there were a few rumors of infidelity but not widespread and with nothing to back it up. and also some complaints that he was leaving her alone too much and she had spent a number amount of holidays alone. on the other hand the queen seems to have actually only ever loved him, kept his photo in her room for years + when he proposed without getting the kings blessing first she instantly said yes, telling the king later + first few years of their marriage she didn't leave his side, occasionally leaving her children in the palace and going to malta to be with him. (and believe it or not i read 3-4 different instances of philip being involved in a car accident.)

What I think is interesting about this scene is his jacket looks a tad bit large for him and kinda fits poorly. I think this was to give the impression that he shrank a-little, like he was being a small and petty in his behavior towards her relationship with Porchy.

Claire Foy and Matt Smith were excellent in the early seasons of The Crown, even though not many of us would remember that era clearly, but after that, it was downhill. Not only did the actors not have a hint of the personal qualities of the characters that they were trying to portray/play, but it had so many historical errors that it was challenging to watch. In this clip, Claire has a slight Irish brogue, that I'm sure is attributed to her mother Caroline, since she is of partial Irish descent. Is just an observation and not critical to Claire's performance.

When this show was a great show and not the pathetic last season

Wow -- this was obviously a marriage from hell. Maybe not any physical abuse, but the sense of abandonment. Philip has been shown in many RU-vid vids as an insensitive clod (making really stupid remarks when meeting third world people) and here we see just how much of a louse he was with his wife. Good God, no wonder those three sons were such a mess.
