They should make the SSD slide into the heatsink and have slim folding tongue plate to close it to the top portion from the bottom. That way there is still heatsink on the underside.

FYI. That heat pipe heat sink actually prevents the ssd from cooling the way Sony intended since you can't reinstall the drive cover. That cover is there because the chamber need to be sealed since Sony designed that bay to be cooled by negative pressure. On the other hand, the ps5 specific heat sync that saberent sent you does exactly that, making it far more efficient in this specific senario.

I don’t quit get what you’re saying. Are you saying to buy this or keep the Ps5 the way it came? I got a WD sony 1tb w/ heatsink. Im travelling to a hot climate country soon and would like to add a extra heatsink just to be sure it doesn’t overheat. Do you recommend this sabrent cover?

@@DiegoMartinez-rh6gf no i havent bought it. After many research, i don’t think it’s necessary. My sony SSD with the built in heatsink is still doing great Edit: to answer your question? Im not 100% sure but i think it will fit. I think if you look for other videos they might answer that question

I just got the Sabrent heatsink, but instead of using the stock thermal pad, I used the Gelid Ultimate thermal pad. Donyou think it will improve the temperature/s?

Can i just remove for example the top cover of a 3rd party heatsink and leave the bottom part and install this as the top and cover? I already have an ssd wd 850 but with 3rd party heatsink not the built in heatsink of wd.

My WD 850 1tb get over 6k+ speed consistently. I have a honest question, since you have a Playstation product, why don’t you get the SSD specifically made for PS5 by Sony (wd 850 gen4) Wouldn’t it be better since it’s made by the same people that made your consoles?

@@poorwithtalent715 it’s great, I spent more then I wanted but I needed to expand my memory. Make sure your PS5 has plenty of ventilation. It should not be making your room hot, that was the PS4’s job😂

the ps5 m2 slot has a metal cover over it and zero venting. why i do not know.....but the $13 sabrent metal plate adapter stopped mine from crashing and it runs silent now

@@stevemccormick7947 There is airflow, and PS5 states you NEED a passive heatsink , AND you need to replace the metal cover for proper airflow..... that doesnt change the fact that nand , the actual storage medium runs better hot, in fact if you cool it too much you will cut the life of the nand up to half its rated life cycles.....again, its the controller that NEEDS cooling.

He said it supports single an double sided. Besides, the heatsink only makes contact with one side anyways, just gotta make sure the double side ssd fits into the ps5.

get the metal plate replacement cover sabrent makes for $13. it fixed that issue for me, runs silent no crashing now

@Steve McCormick I ended up getting a new PS5, thank God for that warranty, the first PS5 ended up being a defective one, that was last year in late February of 2022, just renewed the warranty last month
