The ONLY Relic Farming Guide You Will EVER Need | Honkai: Star Rail 

For anyone wondering how to access the Hoyolab tool mentioned in the video: First log in to your Hoyoverse account. Then either go to your personal homepage and click on your HSR stats displayed on the right (desktop) or near the top (mobile). OR go to the HSR interest group page and click on the "Battle Records" tool.

Advice from someone who has fully cleared MoC since the game started: good relics are way less important than you realize. Smart team building > brute forcing with +15 "god tier" relics. Leveling talents and light cones for guaranteed stat upgrades > gambling on relics. In fact even though I've fully cleare MoC and PF to date, I only broke 200 relic domain clears a month ago. +12 relics is a good stopping point for the majority of your characters. Overall, horizontal account diversity has much much greater returns than vertical character investment. Vertical investment is potentially an account bricking mistake especially if you're F2P, because unlike Genshin, elemental vulnerability has a massive difference in HSR because of the toughness break mechanic. This isn't Genshin where you can just brute force 95% of the time.

honestly I feel you summarized/condensed your points quite well, not too much overlap, lots of good info and tips, a bit of personality/spice that keeps it interesting rather then reading a spreadsheet, I appreciate your videos.

look i am very uncomfy with too much minmaxing but the way you talk about it so passionately and able to explain some things so easily and logic your way through the process of doing this or that is incredible. i am a casual GI and HSR player myself and pull characters for bias factor (i mean waifu gaming but hey can we be past genderyfing every little thing?) yet i prefer my characters to be built nicely as well. so in hsr some things still don't click with me like if genshin can have crit stats in weapons directly affecting character's crit ratio hsr is a tiny bit different in that and my relics / ornaments luck is below average... I came here to find a quick solution to my problems yet i found something a lot bigger than that, thank you

You did a great job with the information, I did learn something knew though. The useful sub Stat value is a great metric for what relics not to roll. really nice video so far, now onto the live rolling part (ty for having the sections labeled, I appreciate the effort) and that last bit was really good talk, I think a lot of players need to hear that especially if they arent super into gatcha games... I started with genshin and spent a lot of money in very poor choices and suboptimal stuff, and I dont think you need to be fully optimal to enjoy the game, but me wasting pulls on a banner with characters I dont even want to use... giga-scuffed... or pulling on characters that overlap with stuff I already have instead of getting something new/interesting/powerful/unique... like right now I am only 3ish weeks deep into hsr, but I spend, and have been doing resin/stam/fuel refills with gems, 1x a day almost every day past my first 5 days, and 3x for the past week, c1 sparkle, missed c2 and got bronya so saving the 50/50 to get a dps character, I think it might be acheron since I love my welt so much and want to use them together. (rn him and sampo are my dps units haha) did a tiny bit of relic farming, got a really dumb lucky piece with my first 5 star arti, was hp%/flat atk/break eff, rolled it because it was the best headpiece I had at the time and would get me the 2piece, it rolled crit dmg, then kept rolling it until lv12, I left it there scared to use my relic xp to be disappointed or if I hit that 5th crit damage roll... but yeah, I have lots of purples on people and a few mid golds and once the event comes up for double artis I plan on doing more artifact farming, so doing traces and leveling rn... anyways im rambling, but very nice video, good tips and ideas, and thanks Edit: I just missed dan IL, I started when his banner had literally 6 hours left after a few weeks of my friend talking up hsr compared to genshin, and wanting me to give it a try (he isnt f2p) and talking about my other friend (full f2p) and another (basically only bp/daily login thing spending) friend who started playing this instead of/alongside genshin, but after missing him and doing story/using a support dan IL I want him as my main dps, so I want a dps that doesnt overlap as much with him, acheron can be used on one side, and Dan IL has sparkle e1/s1 and bronya e0/s1as options which acheron wont really care to use, so Ill get my dps, and then save pulls until dan il is back, maybe breaking that rule for a shielder/healer since I dont have much yet

I just watch the video and already to proceed to do a big overview of every relics i own and locked all the good ones depending on the set, substats/main stats andfor what character it would be useful. I will also change the way i farm relics to be more optimal . Lots of ice and wind and W7 grind incoming.I was too laser focus on getting the sets+good stats but now i will focus a lot more on the stats for my support character. Once Acheron is out , i won't care about new characters and I'm just going to perfected my Jingliu, Sparkle and maybe i will achieve finally a 164 SPD Bronya with wind set. I was in a rush of new characters because i was late and "more characters = more options" but i'm good now. I got enough options now and its time to focus on what i got right now. Thanks a lot for this second video, its really useful .Hopefuly my lv 68 account (yes) is not doomed yet and i can do something about it. already sub on the last one so i can only give you a like for this one. The next bit is for people who build too many characters like me: It's really important to understand the real value of those options because its tricky :When you watch too much video about builds that promotes new and broken characters : They gave you a sense of emergency that make you get/build the said character . "Xueyi is an amazing quantum unit with high potential" and your brain goes " I have Xueyi, she's a good unit.I should build and use her" and then you proceed to just drop everything to build Xueyi . They're promoting the character but they're not telling that YOU should build her. They promote her for new player, for people in need of quantum unit. If you doing just fine, YOU don't need to rush her. And my god , i've lost so much time and ressources to upgrade characters like her. And for what? I barely use her, she's super specific use for me and her current build sucks and i got other priorities anyway. I've done so much back and forth between new character ,i just realise my Ruan Mei traces are not even max out yet!!

Really good video. I have been playing since the start and my builds are still a mess 😭 I've finally decided to actually stop pulling for a while and put effort into fixing my characters after Archeron's banner. I feel like trace and lvl farming in this game for each character takes a lot longer than it did in genshin for me, I could almost never focus on going after relics bcs there was always another character to lvl. So taking a break from pulling might actually be the solution so I can put my efforts into relics.

Thank you for this. Since starting Genshin back in 2020, I played really casually and off-and-on, and now that I’m a bit more focused on it and actually learning how it works (plus playing Star Rail a few months after release) these tips make building my characters make a lot more sense.

Great vid. I also think vertical investment is smart. I started in 1.6 so have not played long enough to be able to do so yet. I have a dot team so lacking two 5 star sustains and a traditional hypercarry like JL. i think after i get those then i will transition to vertical progression

I do a similar method of rating with 'useful substats', but the stat goals makes so much sense I feel like an idiot for not making that connection. Anyway one of the things I think I do better is counting flat-atk as a 'half' roll. For instance 2 rolls flat attack, 2 rolls crit would be a 3 'substat' peice.

Im back for a rewatch, gotta say looking at relics with the 6 numbers rule 4/4/2/2/2/2 and such has been huge, got a few units to decent working level to beat moc and pure fiction (not max stars in moc yet) to pair withmy acheron who is built properly Its been nice doing caverns and seeing so many potential good pieces, and seeing what to roll and seeif they actually are worth it part way. Got a few lucky lucky ice pieces when getting some wind set for supports (having planned to give ice set to herta or whatever) but got TWO 7 stat gloves, and a 6 stat CD body that tempts me to get jingliu even tho I planned to skip her since I got acheron Doing pre-farming for acheron got me tons of useful diver pieces for her, welt, pela, and sampo, as well as solid 1-offs for stuff like speed boots I played genshin a lot for the first 2+something years, did arti-farming but this video really felt like it "focused" my arti farming stuff So ty

I’m at the point where I’m vertically investing into my account as well. I just 36 star recently after focusing in on a few units, rather than averaging out all the others characters in different directions. Plus it gives me peace of mind knowing that when I’m finished with one unit and I can move on to the next. My base line for dps characters are 65-80% cr to 200+% crit dmg, while trying to fixate on 134 or higher break point. 2 weeks ago I managed to get blade up to that point and now I’m working on Seele. I’m also looking into getting more premium LC choices as well. I’m looking forward to getting jingliu since I skipped her last patch. Seeing so much ice weakness is a pain in the ah 💀. Then I’ll look forward to a physical dps, down the line. I also haven’t build ratio as well, I have dang heng and he does all the heavy lifting in the mean while. I wanna pick up his lc as well, 25% for the stats but the 75% for reasons…

A 1 hour video on relics is nothing compared to how long I spend sorting my drops in most RPGs. If this helps save even 2% time sorting or accidentally foddering / unnecessarily levelling relics, it’s worth it.

32:10 I know that feeling all too well ... Every character I've pulled/energy I've spent has been to make Qingque stronger (I've only pulled limited sustains or supports) Long guide videos are always nice, very informative while taking a neutral approach that doesn't force optimal strats/builds down peoples throats. As a day 1 player, It's nice to see what other people think about character reqs & what they consider "god-like" pieces on characters. Personally, I don't value SPD too much on my characters. For Example, I have my Sparkle at 154 because I want my SW to be faster than her without giving up too much crit/cdmg & atk. I'm still able to clear MoC fine. So while SPD breakpoints are important I think it's also important to just get what works for you & your teams.

some of the things he says are right but some are completely wrong. Take self modelling resin for example, letting in sit in your inventory to collect dust is just about the best thing you can do with it, because the best way to use self modelling resin is on the last piece of a set since it gives the highest chance of completing a set the fastest. Some of the other stuff like which relic substats to look for on what piece i also disagree with but i cant be bothered to go through all of them. Good insight for a relic farming guide though

I think a video on horizontal vs vertical investment would be good. The benefits / disadvantages of both, diminishing returns, pulling for more chars vs LC, etc. Your account review for me was extremely helpful. I was starting to see the diminishing returns of extreme horizontal investment.

Im more of a genshin player but started HSR during the release,i have basic knowledge since in genshin i also go for the correct sub stats but in star rail i didn't understand a few stats(Effect res etc)which left me way too confused, thanks for the help

my strat so far is that I am building 2 teams (1 at first but ive gotten pretty far with it so added another) I chose Mono Quantum and Blade Hypercarry (Was gonna pull jingliu but she is rerunning at a bad time for my future plans) I try to farm efficient domains too - like all my supps are on messenger except luocha who i passively upgrade over time due to echo of war and my clara will be using longevous when i eventually build her so farming the long+messenger domain really helps me be efficient My only issue is my quantum set is super inefficient to farm, i dont own fuxuan and no one else really uses wuthering so ive been stuck with NO CHEST PEICES for my seele. my SW has been using quantum set but i might transfer her over to messenger tbh - but i also dont have an EHR piece for her for quantum or messenger. like not even a shitty one im just stuck on 4 stars BUT aventurine is coming out and i want to make a team for him because i like him so much, so im gonna go for him topaz ratio and then one of the supps i already have (pela or TY i guess) So im gonna have to spread my resources more - Im not clearing MOC yet (partly a skill issue tbh) but i find the game more fun when i build my teams how i want them! This video makes me feel good bc at least im doing most of the stuff uve suggested and its really just shit luck bc relics are a crappy mechanic :3 keeps me motivated to keep going bc eventually I will be able to have a variety of teams built for moc pf and SU (i really like doing different strats but im also a perfectionist....)

Can you make a video about what relic cavern to farm for maximum efficiency? And what relics should you use the "strong box" to create? You mentioned it briefly in this video, but I would like a more in-depth discussion. Of course, which cavern to farm depends on which characters you have, but assuming you have the top "meta" characters and want to build them, which would be most efficient? I think this would help a lot of meta players.
