Just searched to see if anyone else ever had the ridiculous idea i just had (building a tube amp into a desk) and found that a lot of your other ideas are very much in-line with the things i think are important. I’ve been trying to design pretty much this exact desk for a long time now. No matter how many image searches i did i could never find anything that was really similar to what i had in mind. But you’ve pretty much nailed it here, and it’s going to make my job a lot easier now that i have something to work off of. So thanks. Stay weird and persnickety. You’re doing good work.
My desk will be My old solid wood front door, actually haven't had a desk in years, I just put the laptop on a 4 foot book unit, then put any gear I use on boxes either side infront of My sofa.
My motivation to MAKE drawers is pretty low right now... haha. Made 22 drawers from scratch for my workbenches and it’s a lot of work. Plus, good quality slides are $$$$
I only have the sketched out dimensions that I show in the video, which include the critical dimensions and how to get 8u spaces. Nothing formal yet, but I’m working on a way to share plans in the future!
No, the point exactly between tweeter and the woofer is the one where you want your ear to be. Why? Because then there's equal distance from both elements and sound-waves from both hit your ears at the same time. If you're off from that axis, you get comb filtering etc.
Thanks for the correction. I agree and fortunately (or unfortunately) my room acoustics aren’t optimized to the point where that 1” makes a difference in my mix. Maybe I’ll get there some day, but i should have planned and measured from the ideal.
