The ONLY WAY to CARRY with Slardar - Best Build and Offlane Tips! - Dota 2 Guide 7.34e 

From my perspective echo is similar as on CK - you are tanky as hell, you can punish your opponent, you can play "in their faces", you dont need to worry about ganks (that much). With echo+blink you are basically centaur, but with minus armor. Nobody wants to hit you, because with puddle+sprint you are almost unkillable. MoM for games, where you are dominating (as a team) and you will have space between 10-25 minutes to farm your items. Echo for games, where you know you will need to do things before that. With MoM you need to play like carry, afk farm a lot and wait for extra items to be impactful on the map. Which is fine if your other lanes win, but if your carry lost his lane and is jungling and mid is struggling and you are the only one strong, you need to do things - either splitpush, work with supports on ganks, defend towers, be that frontliner etc. And if opponent creates 4man deadball with their carry recovering in their triangle while you have 2 passive cores recovering, you need to simply lead the way. And Echo helps with that while MoM does not.

Big thing to note - shard helps deal with linkens / lotus. Also allows for clutch plays on invis lurkers like BH / Tree

If only MOM didn't silence while active its okay but i think Echo to Harpoon is okay for simple game and to reduce being so kitable like you said active mom you cant skill only hit it kinda removes the point of the shard as well yes you can skill first before mom but still second or two being silence cost more the you think

Not sure why Speed is so obsessed with MoM, its decent for farming but thats about it. Doesnt scale into mid game at all coz u need to use skills with aghs/shard. Echo is way more versatile and streamlined for 9/10 games

as a slardar main yes this video is 100% accurate!

I just saw a build and tried it and i am 11-2 with it in Acncient bracket, and i wasnt a very succesful slardaf player before. I start with 2 circlets and 2 gauntlets of str. Send 3 tangos after bounty runes, do 2 bracers, sometimes stick. PT, raindrops, echo sabre, shard, blink, harpoon. It’s crazy damage :D

The thing about MOM is once you press it.. youre basically comitted to the fight...you cant go stun to go out. its either you die or you kill the enemy.. Also MOM doenst give much stats.. Stats mean so much in early games... I only buy mask of madness on slardar if the game is secured and im playing around.. Another thing about MOM is it doesnt scale as much... with now harpoon being added into the game.. its plain and clear that echo is the better option.. MOM is basically a waste ot item slot 30 mins or more since you have to sell it anyway

Slardar with MoM and without are two completely different play style anyways, so it would up to preference as well as game state to decide.

The thing with echo is that you only need to hit creeps twice before joining a fight as opposed to 3 slow times. Always helps you get that bash off which is really nice especially in early game

I think slardar's stun sound effect makes me flaccid

Speed got it wrong when he said you do not need echo saber to help you bash more. The thing is, a good slardar player would prep the stun before hitting the enemy. Then use slithering crash for another stun. Then by the time the stun duration finishes then you will have another stun activating because of the 1 extra hit from the echo saber. I love watching and learning from your videos speed but stop pushing your MOM build because most slardar players dont like this.

while MOM provides better farming and solo potential I think you've forgot the point that slardar can always disassemble Ecro Sabre into Agh or BKB which are necessary for slardar's gameplay tempo. Furthermore, in this game, he was playing against heavily physical dmg from opponent team, hence phaseboots + echo is better than mom hundred times.

Playing without the mana regan of the echo feels bad.. especially now with the W CD buff and people starting to take W talents and level it up more. mom build is so easily countered with saves, ghost scepters and forcestaves so it kind of forces you to go that bkb nullifier route if you want to really kill people.

tl;dr I still prefer echo because it's comparable to MoM and rarely worse In this game I would get treads but get a wraith band instead of the bracer because of the armor and attack speed, maxed bash, leave stun at 1 (loving the OG max stun build, but bash is too damn good these days) and max sprint because that's what gives armor and regen while you're chasing with haze. At level 11, treads, wraith band, echo vs phase, bracer, and MoM is almost identical damage and DPS over the duration of the mask of madness. A couple things to consider are MoM may potentially give an initial kill of a weak target faster, it's not by much (and yes every bit counts). Slar never has problems farming ancients after he gets haze because of bash damn near 1 shotting them. He doesn't need aghs to do tormenter either, just needs to not have a terrible game by 20 minutes with echo (mom reduces armor so he will struggle against tormentor) and a little bit of extra armor or another body to help split damage and if you're 12 for lv 2 haze then its very easy. MoM silence prevents you from casting haze again which you may need if a fight goes on longer than expected, it also means you have to cast your other 3 spells before you MoM. Echo stats are pretty desirable as well and it can disassemble into multiple items if need be. The slow on echo is not for nothing either, compound it with the speed from sprint and you don't always need the stun to kill someone which can save you some mana (on top of the regen from echo).

This build gives more tankiness but you need more follow up damage and makes you dependant on your team which is not pleasant. not atleast for me in 3k mmr where my team sucks

Don't need aghs to solo tormentor. Lvl 12 and an Echo Sabre does the trick. Smoke to theirs, take it, tp fountain, takes yours, BAM, 2800 gold swing.

I’d have to disagree with Speeed here. Mask of madness is a very risky fighting item, and is only good in 1v1 or 2v1 pick offs. If the hero is stunned or disabled with Mask of madness active, your hero becomes -8 armor sandbag, without Slithereen crush to get out. This situation only requires any support to countergank in the early-mid game.

I never pick up MOM with slardar because it silences me and the usual scenario that an enemy hero was able to escape because I don't have my stun is a lot. I always opt to buy midas since it helps hin scale into mid to late game.

I dont like MOM build, well like "killer build" and IMHO its not all cuz of MOM, first fase are better always then boots but in "killer bulid" you have to make AS boots, then armlet then mom then SB then AC? (At least I play it that way) and its oke early, really GOOD mid but its really bad if goes late. The buid is about control not about killing + you have mb the best killing ulty at the game. And another thing "sladars slown he dosnot need more slows" i think thats bad way to look at hero, Snipr has what is W or E so you dont need DL, or Rubik has E so you dont need any cast range item or axe has Q so you dont need armor... IMO its good to play on strenghts on ur hero, thats why I like to buy SandY on slardar (sometimes) Or HH HH is also really good on slardar, New Slardar is like old Axe or old Tiny but you dont build force anymore on those heros cuz we have alot of new items and stuff, so ye IMHO MOM Slardar is more like carry guy, and this "New Slardar" is offlaner so see what ur team needs

Dude midas then octarine core with w talent and shard is the only way to play. 2.5s cd w applying -armor, and slow. The entire game you run around 1 shotting creeps with constant max speed and blink. Never not been highest nw with huge team fight impact.

Kinda disagree.. Mom with that draft isn't as effective as echo..normally in 7k mmr games I always see sladar user get to perma bash utk prep of the 3rd and then continue with 2rd..intant kill and reset kinda game seem more effective

don't complicate things.. he build echo for raw hp and mana regen that's it, there's no downside to the item since slardar is an offlaner.. and talking about scaling, echo can be disassemble to bkb it's just simple as that.

Bruh the lane is 6-0 and DW 4 completely destroys sb and lycan. Any naga with a competent 5 would destroy slardar its actuality one of naga best matchups. Also good luck going MOM into 3 minus armour and having no mana from echo if you max W. This was a fluke win.
