The Touch Bar was criminally underrated. If Apple also had regular function keys and developers took better advantage of it, it would have been a game changer. The programs that did use it well were awesome.
Which ones did use it well? I used MB Pro with touchbar for 5 years, never saw anything to take advantage of it. I much prefer having full touch screen in Surface Pro which I got to replace the MB. I wish Apple did similar form factor, it's just so much more futuristic and versatile...
The problem is that they released it at the same time as the bad keyboard, so at least speaking for myself, I was interested in the Touch Bar, but I wasn’t interested in a keyboard design that could potentially break easily. Then after that, they went to ARM, so now I’m waiting to see what happens with boot camp. Basically what I’m saying is that I’m running a 2012 MacBook Pro hoping that they eventually release my dream machine.
@@PhazonBlaxor Photoshop. Anything with a toolbar could just put the tool bar on the Touch Bar and that’d be useful enough to justify the feature on a Pro laptop
@@Premium-Content Never knew that, not sure how it's even that useful though. Especially compared to full touch screen and using a pen with Photoshop - touch screen was a game changer for my workflow.
I agree! I have the mb pro 2020 13 inch, and it’s been surprising to see so much criticism of the touch bar. I enjoy it. I enjoy the options that have been optimised for safari, ms word, ms powerpoint, and a few other applications. I wish more apps and games would’ve adopted the touch bar function. It’s just really unique, I feel. It deserves some credit. But alas, people are already calling it obsolete and demanding that it be dropped from all future models. So that’s sad.
I love the touch bar, but i just wish they had a normal function row PLUS the touch bar right above it (there is totally room on my macbook pro). To be able to browse the web and quickly go to the next song and scroll to exactly where you want to be in the song (stupid songs with long intros) while scrolling social media is god tier workflow wise. There are some other great use cases too that i love it for, but that's probably the one I use most. especially while I work. The only substitute for a touchbar is probably the latest stream deck 😂
Touchbar is one of the things I love the most about my Macbook. Using a tool to customise it completely to my liking on a per app basis and using it as a customisable "Streamdeck" sort of thing but with per program macros and functions that would normally take multiple clicks and shortcuts.
If that touch bar could work in minecraft that would be dope as hell. See your hot bar and hotbar items in the touch pad and allow you to choose items from it.
The fact that you can add a “Sleep/Hibernate Button” to the Touch Bar-now that’s revolutionary. I hope they bring it back. I don’t expect much from it, but I do appreciate it.
@@smarf93 you can but then whenever you are using someone else's Mac it will frustrate you. If there is already a way to do it from the factory it's best to learn that than have to spend time setting up your custom method each time.
the touchbar is the perfect hotbar space for games, heath bar, inventory, and especially for minecraft think of scrolling through the inventory with your finger on the touch bar if you wanted
I have no real choice but to game on a MacBook, and honestly, the software support is the biggest thing holding it back. I’ve run things natively, via emulation, and through a windows virtual machine all very well, and for a controller, you can hook up a DualShock 4 wirelessly without any adapters. I recently played through a GameCube game that took me 50 hours and only had one time it froze, even while forcing it to upscale to 4K. If only software support was better, then it would be possible to run way more games. There’s a dedicated developer base for compatibility solutions(such as Mac versions of Wine), but individual people can only do so much.
Brooo I imagine someone making it possible to turn the touchbar into the progress bar in New Super Mario Bros. DS, and you could even use the stored power up
Photographer here.... like with so many things.... adobe was really the only one doing any work for it other than apple itself... once you got used to it and set it up to your liking it really simplified workflows a lot
Touchbar plus BetterTouchTool plus GoldenChaos-BTT! That’s what apple should have given us. EVERYONE would have loved it. Choose a preset or Roll your own touchbar with support for virtually all 3rd party apps for mail, calendar, browser, ….. just the 2finger swipe for volume and 3finger for brightness would have made a difference in the opinion of many. Function keys?? Press fn and you got them. Music control? Built in with now playing! Next Calendar and reminder entries, browser tabs, whatever. You name it, it’s there.
2 thing that make much sense on a laptop. 1. Touchscreen 2. Fn + F4 for hibernate (Toshiba implement this on their business line laptop) For standby, Toshiba put Fn + F3.
It runs nothing I need, the software is lackluster at best. So nope. Got Surface Pro instead, not going back after I got to experience the versatility and how much more futuristic it is.
People keep asking for better gaming on Mac, but it's simple! Close your MacBook, set a Linux or Windows Desktop on top of it, Viola, better gaming on Mac.
The issue is, Pros are used to function keys. A touch bar is probably used more by non-professional workers, but Apple did the opposite. If there was an option on the Air for one, I think some people would go for it.
“Pacman in a straight line, but its not as easy as it sounds” really? Cause it sounds like an absolute nightmare where you cannon dodge any of the ghosts.
the touch bar actually wore your ssd out faster and most touch bar macbook pros were not only more expensive but less repairable as you couldn’t replace the ssd
My laptop lives on a desk and I hate dust.. which is always on it. After seeing a few other peoples with crud built up and scratches I thought nope. My cousins didn’t even work.. and that’s a very noticeable part to not work. But, even though I don’t personally use them doesn’t mean others don’t have a real use. I’ve heard people using them for almost everything. Don’t add a feature like that and just take away with no replacement features. Like, who not have made that 1,600 dollar 14” pro a touchscreen? Woulda made that cost easier to swallow and be kinda a cool experiment. I imagine apple hasn’t gone touchscreen though cause of how they build them.. they are delicate and by all intents and purposes.. they all hit tell us to be realllly careful with our apple MacBook displays. There’s my rant. You’re my fav Apple content.
I think a video about Asashi Linux would be worth it either on Mac Address or LTT. It'd be nice to show some of the downsides and positives of Mac OS and what a less walled garden would be like.
I absolutely LOVE how the touch bar fails at both 😍 It isnt as versatile nor as useful as an actual touchscreen, and adding an additional screen of that specific size into the keyboard space probably isnt cheap. Nor does it improve the gaming experience, i wouldnt ever use that over a touchscreen or a mouse.
