Yeah that would be the best way to play it. Although I don’t think too may people that own a pro controller are gonna buy this one. I know I’m just gonna wait for the more traditional one
@@Refreshment01. They charge people for the -Pro- Classic controller. People pay for it. They should be able to use it as long as the game can be played with two joy cons attached to the grip or to the console itself. Two joy cons attached are exactly the same as one -Pro- Classic controller
@@Refreshment01 That's a very good point. Including Pro/Classic support might have put the game over budget, too. They'd have to play test all of the functionality in TV mode and Handheld Mode with yet another control scheme, even if it seems "obvious" that it would work. As a programmer I can tell you the worst issues come up when you assume something should work just because it SEEMS simple enough.
Nintendo says buy my 80$ pro crontroller and pay for online but we will make a pokemon game that cant use the pro controller and no cloud saves what world does Nintendo live in
@@Supremepikachu at least when you are done playing it you can sell it and get your money back. It's not like a Xbox game where I feel scammed when prices drop 3-6 months later
Wait... you can use two joy cons on your own... and you can put joy cons in the grip... and the balls go to center of the screen? Doesn’t it make it easier to catch pokemon if you activate two joy cons, put them in the grip, and just swing the grip?
I like the visuals and think I will get used to the more leisurely gameplay style.. but having to wait after every interaction for my whole party to level up etc is so obstructive and time consuming.
OtakuUnitedStudio obviously it’s nothing new, but I didn’t more time pushing through multiple level up texts boxes in the first 45 minutes than actually playing. I’m aware my party all gains XP so I’d rather not have to deal with alerts when all 6 level up twice after one wild interaction...ruins some of the emersion for me.
Actually you want to get it as small as it can be, but big enough for the pokeball to fit into. If the circle is too small you might get the bonus but if the ball and circle are the same size it is an excellent (if you get it through the circle
I don’t know about Gen 3, but Gen 4 and later Pokémon games (Pokémon Diamond/Pearl through Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon) have an option to enable a one handed control scheme, letting you play the whole game with one hand.
I have been using handheld controls (just switch in hand with joycons on each side) and it almost feels like a core game to me. Im really happy with the controls and the game in general.
I’m using the poke all plus right now... and I love it, the joy con feels great too but it just feels great to use and has such a nice weight to it, the sounds, colours and vibrations feel perfect, in loving the game its so beautiful
I was like "didn´t you meant Poke ball plus"? And then that magestic edit. Lovely. Hope it doesn´t get crazy expensive here in mexico. I really want to try it. :c
Man! Your video was exactly what i needed, i was thinking my Switch was a problem with joycon, always i opened the game one switch disconnected and connected like player 2. Thanks!!
I'm 77 deep into a Krabby catch combo and this was so helpful. Also, I realized at about 38 that B helps you immediately run to avoid losing catch combo
I have played all Pokémons so far and I'm really sad about this pro controller thing and the throw the ball to capture. Nothing wrong with changing the game but I play mostly in my bed and that seems really unconfortable just moving my arms all the time with only one hand. Also, how do you level your pokemons without wild encounters?
You're over leveled throughout the game just from trainer battles and catching Pokemon. If you want to play in bed just play in handheld if it gets uncomfortable. I've been on my side in bed playing for a few hours now, switching between handheld controls and the Pokéball, and I'm loving it.
Play in handheld mode and you just use gyro controls to aim. I get what you mean about throwing though. The motion controls should be optional as an accessibility feature if nothing else. Maybe that will get added in a patch.
I'm glad I'm left-handed. I think I'd rather have the Control Stick above the Buttons than below it, but I'll try playing with the right Joy-Con. By the way, even though you may be right-handed, I've seen gameplay video of people using their right hand with the left Joy-Con to play. I don't know if it's as easy, but I'd give it a chance.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio I am a leftie and tried all styles. For me personally I would be a better thrower with my left hand, however I dislike the A-Button on the pokeball and I can never remember which of the buttons on the left controller is supposed to be A or Y
I was straight chillin playin this last night. I bought the let's go plus and I honestly didnt bother to play with the pokeball yet because I was trying to play it asap. Honestly I enjoyed it with the joycon. The pokeball felt too small in my hand and I was worried it would get uncomfortable (I played a good 4+ hours on a work night smh) but I will definitely try it today.
5 mins ago...I started playing this...found out about this...so your telling me...that setting here playing it on my TV..right now...right here...the only control scheme is to use motion controls with only one of the two nunchucks..WHAT THe FLYING FUUUCCKKKK!!! Sigh..thank you sir..you just saved me A LOT of time...welp time to make a return trip to Walmart! Thank you, it’s unfortunate but at least I know now...
thanks! that was very helpful because when I went from handheld to on my monitor (1 joycon), I couldn't manage to throw a pokeball! Super cute game, ikr!🥰
In the trailer they said you can put pokemon in the pokeball plus (to hear) can you put mew into your plus and reset your save to start a new game and still have mew?
Possibly but the game might use some hidden values to prevent individual Pokemon from being transferred between different save files. I'd hold off on trying until you can confirm it through either Nintendo or Game Freak's customer service line, or see someone else do it.
The game is really fun I didn't think I would use the Pokeball + either BUT! I really like it. I still think it would be really cool if the ball came in at least two different sizes
It has barely any content from Pokémon games after 1998, is set in the most boring region in the franchise’s history that we’ve already been to 4 times (or 6 depending on how you want to count), it strips away most of what makes Pokémon fun, takes one step forwards two, steps backwards when it comes to graphics, has a pretty inaccessible control scheme and yet it costs more than any mainline Pokémon game before it. This would have been a big let down if it was on the 3DS, but the fact that this is the first home console Pokémon game, which fans have been wanting for ages makes it even more of a disappointment.
@@kekchanbiggestfan How does taking our wild battles (but not wild encounters) make it less fun? The game still has the same combat system for Trainer Battles. And not having to use a million repels or run from way-to-frequent Zubats going through Mount Moon was NOT a letdown. I respect that you may not care for the game for any number of reasons, but this is supposed to be a gateway for Pokemon GO players to get into the main series. Abilities and Natures are part of the reason I didn't play Ruby and Sapphire - I though the combat was getting bogged down in unnecessary extra mechanics. But there is more to the game than just catching wild Pokemon. I think it's a good way of simplifying things so new players can step in and improve enough to play the main series games.
OtakuUnitedStudio bruh If you thought abilities and natures made the game harder/not want to play it I’m sorry you’re just bad xD you can literally ignore most of the confusing things and play it just like let’s go except those features are there for the more experienced players or players that want to go that route. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this game though as long as it connects to Pokémon bank and can transfer Pokémon like that if not then it’s easily a failure.
@@phantomplanet07ify I play the games. I'm about a third of the way into Ultra Moon. I've gotten used to it. But to an outsider who has never played, talking to a Smogon try hard, it makes the game sound more difficult or at least more involved than it actually is. Also, try ignoring Scrappy on Whitney's Miltank. Not advisable.
I just started playing it last night and it's pretty epic! However, I do wish the motion controls we're a little more precise. That's really my only complaint!
I was so excited to have a Pokemon game to play on the TV. Now I'm just playing in portable mode because I hate using the joy con and the pokeball plus. Quit forcing me to use motion controls, I'm not lazy, they just don't work properly. I want to be able to play with a pro controller
Hey, not first but I love your vids. Personally I'm not gonna buy this game because of the pro controller and the wild pokémon. It's just disappointing however I'm glad to just wait till this time next year when gen 8 releases for a great game
@@troy1993 the game is actually really fun. Catching pokemon is heart wrenching and feels like you're actually hunting pokemon. It's satisfying to finally catch that Bulbasaur or Chansey without it running away. It's like catching i The Safari zone but with all pokemon. The rarer it is more chances of it running.
Not gonna lie, kinda pissed i cant use my wired controller while docked... mostly gonna play this on the go now. which is maybe their main reasoning for this?
So I'll be honest, I was deeply concerned about the motion controls, and this video kinda completely validated them. I'm not a huge fan of having to move my switch around while it's in portable mode, and since I exclusively play in portable mode it looks like I'll be passing on this entry. Here's hoping the mainline games don't go anywhere near gimmicks like this.
This was the first game I started playing on my switch. First my wired controller wouldn't work. Then the grip wouldn't work. I didn't know why it was recognizing 1st and 2nd player. It said nowhere on the box about motion controls. I thought it was just a basic pokemon yellow remake for home console. I'm so confused....but this video really helped.
Another great video wulff. I was wondering do you know if can you trade with the co-op player on the second controller, say to get gengar, or would i need a second game?
The second player on a single game doesn't have their own team. They use whoever is in your #2 slot. And it makes battles WAY easy by giving you an advantage. This feels like a great game for parents to play with their kids, or for kids to play with friends or siblings.
Guys I'm a bit confused if someone could help me out before I jump in and buy.. I don't have the game or a switch but thinking of buying one.. Can I just play the game with handheld mode then feed the picture from the switch to my TV? Or does it not work like that and I need to set it up and buy motion control stuff to put on the TV and play just using one handheld joy con? I kind of want to have the traditional feel and grip holding with two hands but just feed it to the TV
I hate how u cant use the pro controller. I love how the game looks on the big screen tv tho. Pokeball plus is ok. U cant press y or + on it tho. I hate how wen im using one joy con or the pokeball, i cant press the Home button.
Here's another stupid question for you , completely unrelated to the topic of this video but I didn't know where else to write it. I want to buy an extra adapter for my Switch, so that I don't have to dismantle my dock every time I play in portable mode. I don't really need a battery pack, just an extra plug adapter (cuz I'm usually playing in bed). Are the 3rd party adapters safe? They're about half the price. Thanks in advance if you get the chance to respond.
I think the motion controls suck, they may be ok if you have a set up where you are sitting directly in front of your tv, but playing at any angle (my tv is above my dresser which I have to do because of the way my space is set up) catching any moving Pokémon is absolute hell. I know I’m gonna rage quit this game so many times and waste so many poke balls. Also noticing a ton of frame rate issues in handheld mode so I feel like there’s no way to win
Damn that sucks. You don't have a spare pc monitor or something maybe that would help. I only had like one slow frame issue when playing in handheld mode and that was in viridian forest but I think it's cause I was trying too see how many pokemon would spawn and a lot were spawning, well 12 to 13 at once. Other then that I haven't had that issue again.
I had the same issues when I was playing with a friend. We both just wasted the balls trying to throw them straight ahead. Don't get me started on playing at an angle with a moving pokemon like the bat
Hi, just after an answer really. Does anyone know where you're aiming for side throws? Should I be in line with the switch itself or the tv? I don't think I should be aiming at my tv as it has no sort of signal receiver associated with the switch, but technology has surprised me in the past. Ive had times where ive been in line with both, aimed for center and its just spooned off to the left or right. Some times i will throw to the side of me and the ball will fly central. This may be a completely stupid question to some people I understand.
The motion control is functional yes. But the whole capture mechanic is at best a gimmick that's fun for the first 10 catches but gets old quick. It turns into an annoying chore after that
I'm probably the last person alive who hasn't played a "real" Pokemon game. Suppose I'm this games target audience, being that my first ever Pokemon game was Go...which I only picked up because I travel a lot for work, and I thought it might give my travel a little extra dimension (which it has!) With my very limited experience, I've really enjoyed Let's Go. It's a fun game which can be picked up and played even if you only have 10 minutes. Maybe I'm too casual? Dunno and don't really care; I'm enjoying it =D
I was really disappointed with the poke ball plus controller because it was super uncomfortable to use but ive been really happy playing in portable mode. Love this game so far.
I was very angry about motion controls, but after playing for 5hours (with the Pokeball plus) i like it. It felt reeally good when i cought an Onix after one escaped and millions of berrys, and greatballs were used.
Really awesome job explaining the pokeball plus experience. I'm enjoying the game a lot more than I thought I would. The orchestrated music is the MAIN reason I wanted it in the 1st place and it does NOT dissappoint!
I enjoyed using the pokeball plus but then you dont have access to the Y button for sending pokemon to Prof. Oak. So now when i play docked i use the joycon and find it more comfortable too for longer sessions. One change to the core games ill be open to is being able to see the pokemon roaming in the wild.
Whats super annoying about all of this is that you cant use the JOY-Cons together in the controller chassis thing, you literally have to play the game with one joycon.
As someone who played all seven generations (and the remakes in between) and experienced competitive battling through smogon and vgc, I bought this and the pokeball plus just to try this game out, couldn't stop playing it over the weekend. I love the dragon quest-like spawns when pokemon appear in the overworld instead of annoying random encounters, I love having my pokemon follow me around (already got my timid legendary birds chasing me around in the middle of cities), and the remastered visuals and music are a huge plus from the previous games. Yeah this game hits way home with the nostalgia but if you play the game to "Catch em all" instead of just using only six pokemon, there's your difficulty right there. By the way, you can face off against Blue (in the 8th gym postgame after Giovanni leaves), Green from FRLG, Red and his team of Lv 85 pokemon, rematch the gymleaders and elite four, all daily.
Yeah, I actually went through the trouble of buying the Mayflash usb I saw on your channel and connected the PS4 controller. -Only to find that I can't use it in Pokemon Let's Go. And I never wanted a Switch. So I just spent all that money just for this one game. I'll keep searching to see if I can use my PS4 controller on this game.
I've played the game for about 15 hours or so, haven't beat it yet and not being able to use the Pro Controller makes me more and more hesitant to go back to the game every time. So I've paid about 30% more for a game I'm about 80% more likely not to finish..
It really doesn't help with the fact that you're forced to use joycons either in handheld or docked considering the fact that heavy use of a joycon nearly always results in analog stick creep... I have four joycons and all four have creep. Your only escape is using the Pokeball which has the same tiny joystick.. how many hours until they start getting creep too.
its a PAIN to use on tv mode. My pokeball goes all over the place. NINTENDO NEEDS TO ADD OPTION FOR PRO CONTROLLER SUPPORT. I spent So much money on them for Nintendo to tell me I cant use them on this game
stupidly hard to use 1 joycon in my hand. the joystick and buttons are WAY too close and the controller is WAY too small. looks like im only playing in handheld mode for 2 hour chunks of time
You can't use third-party joycons and you have to have the wrap thing for your arm on the side of the joycon because that controls the motion which he did not mention
I feel offended on how easy they made the game. They pretty much just warp you where you need to be. Also I REALLY dislike the motion controls. I play exclusively in handheld. I'm not sure why they don't allow us to play with the pro controller... They just need to make it exactly like the handheld
I have only been "warped" once so far, which was when I delivered the package to Oak. I consider that a time saver. But really, the game is meant to bring new players into the series. Extra Credits had an episode not too long ago about how difficult long-running series can be for new players go get into because certain mechanics may seem intuitive to established fans, but to newcomers might look indecipherable. It's fine if this game isn't your cup of tea, you don't have to like it. But it's hopefully going to lead to new players joining for the first main series game on the Switch that's supposed to be announced next year. More copies sold means hopefully better games down the road.
