I have the expanded large print edition from the mid 80s. I love it despite the thin pages. I bought it used and the cover is shot. I'm going to rebind it this summer. Thanks for the review.

Im looking foreward to owning a copy. The lack of page numbers in that one section will help me in my learning Chapter and Verse. I appreciate you making this video. It looks like it may last a good while too.

Thanks , Yeah the binding and paper is very good on the NKJV, I have the kJV to review and its totally different. The average person wouldn't notice but for a reviewer I'm dissapointed with it. They changed the paper and the ink darkness, even the binding feels different, personally it almost gives me a bait and switch type vibe.

i watched the whole video and i really enjoyed it. i also really like the initial review you did of this bible because i had that same older edition of the Open Bible once and now that i've seen a comparison to the newer version, i'm definitely going to pick up a copy for myself :-)

thanks for hearting my comment brother. my first ever Open Bible was the older version of it in the black bonded leather and now that i've got the newer, updated version, i can definitely see the difference between the two. p.s. i got mine in the Brown Leathersoft edition and it's super smooth, it has a very nice feel to it.

hey Airik, would you consider checking out my church's live stream on sunday? it's at 10am at www.goldcoastchurch.org and if you do, will you let me know what you think of the service? Also, could you please tell other people you know about the live stream too? thanks :-)

Great, balanced comparative video brother, it is so useful to do these videos between editions. I am a sucker for the older editions of bibles, so I am hoping I can find an older copy, and I will also probably get the newer version too one day. Thanks again! God bless

I'm pleased to have discovered your Open Bible reviews recently. I bought one of these in a Leathersoft cover after seeing this review. I really liked the clean presentation and deep red print. I got very intrigued about the Open Bible after seeing your reviews and also started shopping around. Since then, I've added to my collection a '77 NASB Open Bible, navy hardcover, Walk thru the Bible edition in very good shape, and then a '97 NKJV Hardcover OB Study edition, printed 2002--03 I think, but it was in essentially new condition. I was surprised at how small the '77 one was (are all the '77s that small? page height as I recall was between 7 and 8 inches), but it's really nice for bedside reading due to its small size, and also very portable for use as a church bible. It has a bunch of the WTB content in the front as an added bonus. Great add to the collection as I have no other NASB at the moment (that's about to change, one more coming but not an Open Bible). The Study edition is awesome, I sought it out after your comparison of '77, '80s expanded edition, and the '97 study edition. I got that, and an also 'like new' NKJV reader's bible bundled for only $30. I like the '97 study edition so much that when I saw another one on ebay for $13 reportedly with 'no markings', I jumped on it, even if just to give away. What I find in comparing the '97 with this newest Open Bible is (1) the small print in the new one, just as others noted, and (2) the tight spacing of text. When you compare the two bibles, the presentation of text is far more appealing to me--more importantly, far more readable--in the '97 study edition with a slightly larger font and more space between the lines of text. And the font of the '97 is fine in its own right. While the new one does provide some visually appealing boxes or enclosures for outlines and the like, and adds the nice deep red color scheme, the '97 to me is the clear winner overall, just on the additional features plus the advantage in readability of the text. I also recently bought an NKJV Wiersbe Study Bible, and that one is tremendously readable for my aging eyes with the 10 point comfort print. Because I have two other Open Bibles that I expect to use quite a lot and are valuable in their own right to my bible reading and study, I'm well enough convinced that despite getting 40% off retail for this new one, it's probably going back to the store for a refund. Thanks for your reviews and for helping me navigate through evaluating all things Open Bible, something that before you was completely unknown to me!

Love the comment.. I agree , the paper, print, layout and extra study helps in the Study Edition was excellent. I still have a love for the expanded edition from the 80's with sewn binding and genuine leather. There is a Brand New 1985 NKJV still in shrink wrap on eBay....Way to much for me to buy but boy it's pretty seeing one still unused. That version was very thin and portable plus the font and chart style was my favorite . I like the introduction pages and symbols in that one. I still want the regular size in that year , my largprint is pretty hefty to be a everyday user.

I see it, $159.99? Yes, that’s an awful lot of cash! Low double digits is about as far as I care to go, although I’m sure the finer touches can alter one’s preferences when compared to more cheaply made bibles. Thankfully until now I’ve been able to stay off of eBay since my purchases, because I got lured into it after seeing your reviews!

I have a question also, The 77' edition of the extended version. Does it have to be exactly the 77? Is the next edition 78-79 different? Does the 78-79 edition and its content differ from the 77? Thanks in advance guys and God bless!

I pray by the time the Lord opens up the door for one of these bibles to be added to my collection I'll know how to use it😉😂 I really don't want to review the open bible right at this moment it seems like every one is reviewing one at this time. Thanks sister, I just love bibles its the designs and covers mixed with the noises they make and smells LOL . The word of God is our most treasured item so making that right choice when buying a bible is important to people. Yeah Nelson sent a bunch of these out for review, the review scene has become a bit over saturated at the moment. I wanted to make a quick video when I received the bible so folks could decide if they wanted to buy the more expensive one . I will use the bible more and more and do future videos of it cause I don't have a bunch of bibles coming my way and I definitely don't have the income to do these review vids anymore. I love bibles that have character the market is packed full of bibles but, only a few come around that really grab my attention anymore. Thanks sister , you are one of the best bible geeks I've met😇

@@Airik1111bibles I was looking on Amazon and they are really inexpensive, but I was reading the reviews and people were talking about how they had pages missing. It’s all seemed sketchy. Also it only had like 70 reviews. How can a popular bible like that only have 70 reviews, ya know?
@Airik1111bibles
@Airik1111bibles 2 года назад
@@twiceborn_by_grace I don't use Amazon reviews that much, they can be very misleading for multiple reasons. As for the missing pages that can happen and if so it could happen in small batches . So if a seller bought a box of a bad batch he might get bad reviews for awhile. This can happen to any brand of bible even premium ones just less frequently then the budget bibles. As for the number of reviews , it takes a long time, people don't write reviews for bibles as often as they do for say electronics or tools. I like reading customer opinions from Christian Book , their online reviews from folks are pretty good. I also recommend finding as many video reviews from RU-vid reviewers ya can on the Bible you're seeking. Esp from channels who actually paid for their bibles they can be a bit more objective about what they see.😉 Hope this helps.

I can only guess that they took the page numbers out to make the cyclopedic index look less intimidating. Without the page numbers, they had more space between the columns, so they could eliminate the vertical lines. So my guess is, it was a case of aesthetics trumping utility. I really enjoy your videos. Looking forward to the next one!

Its change and we humans don't like change LOL . I've been called a bible idolater, bible beggar, unsaved and a couple other things this week but, this is why I do reviews cause of good comments and awesome people. Someone in the comments said that since getting this bible Gods word has started jumping off their page again in their life! Now that to me is why I do reviews and why I've tried sharing the Open bible since I began making videos 5 years ago😇 The Open Bible did that to me over 20 years ago and I still love it today, this new one has started a fresh new step for a new generation of Christian readers. Airik, I'm so sorry that you've had that experience. I'm part of alot of bible groups on FB & help monitor a few. It never ceases to surprise me when I hear Christians slandering one another. To me, the root of bitterness stems from a covetous heart. I don't know what other reason some would care about how many bibles someone owns. Each will have to give an account. Most people I know collect out of a deep love & devotion to God. Who am I to try to decipher someone's intentions? When I see your reviews, I can tell how much love & respect you have for His Word. May the Lord continue to bless your efforts & don't allow the enemy to steal your joy. God Bless you brother.

Interesting Bible. I don't have one yet, but in my recent research I see that there will be a newer edition released on 28 Jan 2025 with 128 more pages than the one that came out in 2019. I don't really know what the difference will be unless it maybe has to do with the upcoming edition including 200 word studies? I might just wait until then.

Hopefully, they enlarge the print cause it's a bit small . I never got comfortable with the new ones, I now have a 1988 regular sized edition I found on eBay that's my main reader. I just love the old style bibles more , even with their inferior layouts and ghosting, I still find them more enjoyable to use, especially the topical encyclopedia layout. It will be interesting to see what they add and possibly change up. Thanks for the comment .

Thanks for your great review Brother and your open honest opinion I really enjoy! I don’t think you’re biased at all! I totally agree with you and really kind of sad they didn’t put in the visual part of how to use the Bible and also the added page numbering. When my Hubby and I baptized we used the Bible a lot and these were added pleasures for new Christians! Sad to see they weren’t included in the new edition as well. But love to see almost no ghosting what a huge improvement there! As a great reference Bible do you prefer this one over the Thompson chain? Why or why not? Sorry so lengthy. I really do appreciate your honest opinions! Thanks so much! 😍🤗✝️🙏📖

I use the Open bible way more than the Thompson, the Topical index just works for me. I like having the chain subjects off to the side on the Thompson but its more noise and distracting to me. I like this new Open bible they made some awesome upgrades esp paper and ink saturation but, the missing stuff and the smaller print is big deal for some folks. They did an awesome job overall its a new fresh beginning for their old faithful, maybe they will make updates in 2025 , that's the run length from what those little #s on the copyright page tell me. I still would love to see a premium with a few extras as a wink and a nod to the long time fans. Or maybe a large print Heritage like they did in the 80's to match the past, that would be very cool and nostalgic.
