That mounting system is truly innovative, finally something new in the itx market!
@AkshatPrakash7

People don't build open cases for temps. Mainly for aesthetics and sometimes low noise. Imagine the temps on an open case if you add fans or watercool it. And open cases like xproto and da6 accumulate less dust due to their covered top and vertical design. There are very less exposed surfaces for dust to settle on. Where as closed box cases with mesh and fans become vaccum cleaners over time with layers of caked dust settling on the pull side.

Hey! A wild Quakybaby! 🙂 I got an Xproto-L and I couldn't be happier with it. Dust can be an issue but instead of the finagling with filters you just literally blow the components clean. In under 5 minutes you can be through with the whole system. 15 if you use brush and whatnot.

Very nice product! Love the versatility of being able to customise the positions of the (radiator and PSU) mounting brackets. I've been using Thermaltake's P series cases for a while, and I love how quiet the builds end up. The one weakness is that these open builds provide no insulation against coil whine, so if a person gets unlucky with a screechy GPU, it can be quite awful. That's happened to me, and it defeated the purpose of the open and silent build!

I think I just changed my mind on my next case! I've always liked the look of Streacom products but they consistently fall behind on current GPU sizing options. A custom loop on this thing would be awesome! A few initial thoughts below. Great video! Recommendations: - Stretch a little to fit newest 3090Ti cards and potentially futureproof for 4000 series - "non-shiny" version such as brushed aluminum or powder coating (i.e. no fingerprints) - Cover bracket on top/bottom to block view of external cabling - Pump/res bracket (perhaps adjustable vertical brackets that connect to those horizontal ones) - Include those adjustable brackets for all 4 sides; it looks like there could be room for three radiators for custom loops when using CPU block

Feedback: 1. Make sure there are alternate "Motherboard Spine" mounting holes to allow for 1 slot, 2 slot, and 4 slot GPU options. 2. Add holes to the top plate to allow for 80mm, 94mm, 120mm, and even 140mm fans. 3. I'd love to see optional side panels (with filters) one day! They could clip on to the case rails quite easily.
@sullygtx9350

I'd also like the end plates to have mounting holes and be machined to mount fans. I know it's an open air case but it would add more possibilities for airflow configurations. It be awesome to have some low rpm 140mm fans to help with airflow over the MB and other components.

The point about the thermals in a "case" like this is huge. I've built and rebuilt my system so many times experimenting with different aesthetics and performance, and I've finally settled on...a test bench. Not only is it more helpful for tinkering and overclocking, the thermals just never disappoint. For someone like me who can't help but obsess over performance but also loves a good/unique setup, this kind of case is the dream. Hopefully a company like this one nails compatibility, price, and availability some day.

@trsskater
@trsskater 4 месяца назад
@@GW3N_yt You will always get dust open or closed. I have dust filters to prevent dust and I've tuned my air pressure to ensure that air is only pulled in through the dusts filters still have to clean out my pc every 6 months. Which is as frequent as I had to clean it when I had a case without a dust filter. It is less dust but still too much builds up to ignore. If my case was open I would probably clean it more often since it won't be a tear down to get inside and behind fans and such.

3 ideas: 1- Have the tubing for the central structure longer and provide screw mounting as a kit. This would allow for customized lengths, as tubing is very simple to cut and a simple internal bolting mount can be pushed inside the tube once the length is cut. 2- The upper blank plate could be milled to allow for a secondary plate screwed into it. This would allow for various customising for additional I/O mounts or RGB. 3- Provide additional brackets, or create a clasp, that allows for side panels to be clipped into place. The panels can be to order at specific sizes and finishes as an optional extra per panel required (1 to 4).

You should check out the Thermaltake Core P1. It's an ITX case that can support any size air cooler and 240 liquid cooler if you remove the glass. There are many parts that can be removed. It also offers a clean setup configuration with a 5cm thick tower to store drives and cables. It's easily the best case I've owned.

It would be cool if the top and bottom plates were adjustable. That way you can change the position to fit parts of varying sizes (like the gpu). For example, you could raise the top plate to make more space for the asus gpu you used in this example.

GPU clearence of at least 36cm and 4 slots is needed, taking into account the next gen space heater cards from Nvidia. Besides that a little bit of room for flow through cards would also be nice. Optional side panels with holes that could just be slid on and off the case would make this the best itx case/chassis on the market.

I love open air. I've had to do a lot less cleaning than my closed case which would collect dust in every hard to reach corner. Dust is getting in regardless of how many filters you have. For me, I just wanted something with the least amount of surface area for it to settle or is easily accessible to clean with a DataVac. Plus the cooling is better.

The Trident X with Silent Storm cooling seems to be pretty neat - it pulls in cold air from the bottom, exhausts it from the top, and separates the CPU, GPU, and power supplies into distinct thermal chambers so the heat from each can't cross-contaminate the cooling. With reduced air turbulence, I wonder if the cooling performance is even better than an open case.

think a totally modular case would be great. 4 main brackets that you can move to 2 options so you can have a square or rectangle size depending on your hardware. Screw mounting options for brackets instead of the slide ones, and supply lots of 2 sizes so you have options. Would also give 2 standoff heights like the mods did for the Mechlicious to route cables behind the motherboard to hide them and makes the build look much better.

the problem is actually cooling. all the passively cooled bits that dont have a fan directly pointed at them dont get any airflow in a open design. when in a case. jsut a few fans in the case can create airflow through the entire case. but in an open design you need a fan pointed at everything. so unless you have adesk or room fan pointed at the pc everything that isnt actively cooled runs REALLY hot in an open design. in my last open case my ram woudl overtemp and shut down when playign games until i jurry rigged a fan directly on the ram. also the backplate ont he gpu got overly hot until i switched to a total card watercooler (that cooled the vram and the gpu instead of jsut the gpu itself) and all the other little bits ont eh motherboard that had heatsinks would run way hotter than normal. all because airflow was an issue outside of the case.

A couple improvements I would do to the case / some thoughts: - include a LOT of brackets. They don't seem to be too expensive and having the flexibility to hang up a bunch of drives etc would be great. Being able to have 4 brackets per each of the 4 sides would be great. - if you want to have two brackets hanging off the same pipe at the same height but going to two different neighboring sides, it seems like you should almost be able to do that by flipping one of the brackets "upside down" so they overlap, but the mounting hardware that is there seems like it would get in the way. There should be a tiny gap between the mounting screw (?) on the bracket and the large pipe, so that the other bracket's wire can go in there. I can't really tell from the video, but it doesn't seem like there is such a gap. - black square rubber feet that you can clip onto the pipe. Just a simple rubber mold with a square base bottom with a knurled surface. - make some 3D printable projects for the solid surfaces (metal bases) that are inside the case. For example, this case looks like it would be a cool replacement for the xbox series x case, which you could probably manage with a little 3D printing. Also, I'm not a big rgb fan, but if someone wanted to laser-cut their own plexiglas bases instead of the black squares that are sitting inside the case right now, having a 3D model would be very helpful for getting there. - make sure the thing isn't expensive. For what it is, people will approach it as a simple to manufacture item, so if it has a high price, it'll become a specialty-only item.

My concern is the PSU mounting can interfere with the flow-through cooler on founders cards. Being able to replace the end plates with a set of sliding brackets to mount a fan would be so cool. Also if they made the bars and brackets in black instead of the polished stainless. Even a bare brushed stainless would look better imo.

If I had to give feedback, some rubber feet at the edges of the metal pipes to keep it from rolling over on its sides due to sudden movements where its situated. Rounded edges on pipes looks cool and sleek until you stand up suddenly and bump your desk and your rig topples over damaging your expensive hardware. Another option would be to flatten the points that its supposed to rest on giving it a more stable base. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. A great case nonetheless.

Good review as always. I appreciate your continued eye on ITX and in particular open air builds. I keep my Xproto-N on its side (all air) because I prefer that aesthetically and I didn't like cables coming out the top. With this DA6 it appeared while oriented vertically, the cables could come out the bottom? Perhaps Streacom could offer 90-degree cables as options so we could wouldn't have to dig around elsewhere. Could the DA6 lay horizontally as well as vertically?

LC would be interesting. Want to see double build. One that is with a reservoir and then the mounts that's all in one ditching the reservoir
