The magnesium ascorbyl phosphate has been discontinued please which other of vitamin c from the ordinary can be an alternative for the ordinary layering for pigmentation. Thanks for your good works
I can’t believe you’re giving us all this free information. 😭😭 Edit: LOL at this comment getting a lot likes. Also, I tried this exact routine and my skin improved significantly.
Starts video saying she is a channel dedicated to women of color’s skincare and this video is about hyperpigmentation.... ME: *Subscribes immediately.*
I've learned more under 20 minutes than I have ever learned about skin care in my entire life. My week-long search for a birthday gift for my wife led me to you. You are a godsend!
As soon as you said you were dedicated to skincare for us brown girls. You got a new subbie. Saving this video and reorganizing my The Ordinary layering practice. Thank you from a NY girl!
Seeing someone who is so passionate and educated in hyperpigmentation issues as well as general skincare for POC is beyond incredible! I always love watching your videos as they're so informative and structured, with great tips and product suggestions. Thank you for constantly sharing things with us!!
It's ironic, I wrote a comment complimenting your smile and deleted it, thinking it might not be appropriate to write here. To my surprise, you mentioned about your smile towards the end of the video. So let me tell you, with all respect, you've got one of the prettiest smiles I have ever seen. I almost got distracted when you mixed up the words and repeated them 😅. I'm sure this is not the first or last time someone said that, but always keep that on and keep educating us. You're amazing!
Does anyone know if it's okay if I add mandelic acid to this routine and also use a SA face wash from cerave ? (PS. I don't use MAP and granactive retinoid)
(1) Water based - Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate ( 2) Water base - Niacinamide (3) Water base - Alpha Arbutin ( a tyrosinase inhibitor) (4) Anhydrous base - 5% Granactive retinoid (5) Suspension base - Azaleic acid ( tyrosinase inhibitor) (6) Moisturizer ( cerave, cetraban) AM routine: double cleanse, moisturizer, mineral sunscreen ( a physical suncreen) PM routine - double cleanse, use actives in order: alpha arbutin, Niacinamide, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Retinoid, Azaleic acid, wait a few minutes, then moisturize
@@vanitarattan I recently subscribed and I REALLY enjoyed your content as I find it very helpful. Can you give some tips or just products that will be helpful in general to get rid of dark areas in the skin like elbows, knees, bikini areas, underarms etc.? That would be awesome!

When I got diagnosed with HSV 2 it was hell for me, had the worst days, Mental breakdown, crying not eating or sleeping either. I was restless looking for alternatives to get rid of this virus in my system. not until I stumbled upon a video on RU-vid about Dr. Aloha’s Herbal Medication and how effective they are. I reached out to him through his email: Alohaherbalhome@gmail.com and followed the instructions given on how to use the Herbal Medication, To my greatest surprise, it worked perfectly and today makes it a month and two weeks of testing Negative to HSV 2 after making use of his Organic Herbal Medication. It’s so amazing regaining my health back to normal and ridding my body of Herpes. Thank you so much 🙏 You can as well Contact Dr. Aloha through his email: Alohaherbalhome@gmail.com or WhatsApp +1(202)871-3222
Now sitting here thinking about the money I have wasted over the years buying creams that I did not even know the ingredients of. Happy to know that you're UK based so there is a physical clinic. You are God sent 🙏🏾
Didn't we all Lioness, but things was different then no one knew any different we just blindly trusted manufacturers, while they trusted the money rolling in.
I was so excited to try this routine! I went out to purchase everything except the cleanser and the Vit C. Let me just say my face was very happy until I applied the Azelaic Acid on top of the Granactive Retinoid with 5%, my face almost set fire!! I had to wash it off immediately! I went to the ordinary site, and it says "not" to apply the Granactive Retinoid with any of their direct acids and Azelaic was one of them! I will try again without it!! That was my worst experience. I do see there is another video that seems to be an updated version that does not include the Granactive Retinoid, wish I would have seen it first. Hopefully this helps someone else just joining.
Hi I did the same and now my face is irritated from the last product mentioned as well. I can see it works but it’s irritating and I thought the whole point of her teaching was to not irritate skin of color.
Dr Rattan, I have literally watched 90% of all of your videos in the last 5 days. You are a lifesaver to me! I am of African descent, 61 years of age with combination normal to dry skin. I suffer with hyperpigmentation that became very apparent to me about 6years ago and has been getting worst until about 4 years ago when I was introduced to sunscreen. The darkness slowed down with sunscreen and anti aging routine. Thanks to you, I definitely have a much greater understanding of how to use my skincare products. I will be purchasing you sunglasses too. Thank you so much for everything you shared about inflammation, sunscreens and skincare routines. I will check back with you with my 30 day results! Thank you again!
@@marvareedfatima9510 so far, the most evident change has been much less irritation because I'm using my products differently, those that I continue to use. I also purchased the colorscience sunscreen and block because I was using a chemical block. The progress so far, much more even looking skin. You can still see the pigmentation however it's easier to correct now. I think that given more time (at least a year) I just may not need professional treatment. Oh, I just love the shades
Hi Dr. V - I would be happy if you could please let me know which Vitamin C can replace the 10% magnesium ascorbyl from ‘The ordinary’ line since it has gone out of stock for a while now
Literally what I said in the last video I watched! 🤣🤣🤣☠️☠️☠️I was like ‘oh well. Been there done that. Butttt not going back’ aha. Definitely implementing what I learn w/ each video I watch.
Hi Dr. Rattan, can these steps and products be used for hyperpigmentation on the body? What do you recommend for hyperpigmentation on the body (arms, legs, etc)? Thank you
Okay.. This lady can convince me anything.. Like earth is flat or anything.. Jokes aside.. Dr rattan.. You are saver for many brown skined women.. I was confused about the order of serum to apply. Now I know. Thanks to you.. 💜💜💜
What's the alternative for the ordinary magnesium ascorbyl phosphate? It's nomore avaible. Also tell us if the alternative is water based, anhydrous, suspensions or what, so that we can use accordingly following this layering routine.
I just spoke to a representative and he recommended Ascorbic Glucoside Solution in place. He told me that the formula is being reformulated and is not discontinued. Log on to the side and add to basket. It will give you an option for a message when it becomes available. Hope this is helpful
Hi Dr V🥰❤️ just wanted to check with you if this exact hyperpigmentation routine would also be suitable/effective for dry, sensitive, Eczema prone skin? More especially for hyperpigmentation around the mouth area, around the eye area and for overall uneven skin tone. Thanks Dr V, love you! 🥰🙏🏻❤️
Hi Dr V. Thank you so much for what you do for skin of colour. I started watching your RU-vid programs around three weeks ago and have learnt so much from you. I watched your RU-vid channel on “The Ordinary Layering for Hyperpigmentation” but unable to get the Vitamin C, “Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%”. is there any product I can use to replace it?
Dr Rattan, love your videos. Can you recommend an alternative to the magnesium ascorbyl phosphate from The Ordinary? It's out of stock almost everywhere around where I live (including online). If another brand compatible with the Ordinary layering plan in this video - that works too! Thank you!
At 5:43 she states niacinamide is water based yet the ordinary she is recommended is oil based.... I want her to be right so bad but I've note little things like this in her videos and wonder....
Question : Considering the actives applied at night time only, how long should this treatment be followed? Should there be a break in this routine? Thank you so much Doctor Rattan!!
I am so glad I found you, you are awesome. Question: how can I replace Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%. It is not available and it looks it hasn't for a while. I have Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%. Would that work the same and should I use in the same order? Thanks
@@vanitarattan i have heard many ppl they mix resveratrol 3%+ferulic acid 3% from ordinary with it and they seems to be quite happy with that.. but agter seeing ur comment i think i should not think of mixing it with ascorbic powder.
@@loveysoodhoo471 I live in Guadeloupe. Sorry but I don't know how much DR. Vanita charges for her treatment, maybe you can ask them by contacting them on their email adress that is in the description box.
On your last questions: 1) YES, you’re doing a phenomenal job with your content. I’m cutting off glycolic acid after I’m through with this cleanser because of your advice. 2) Watching from the US
Glycolic acid broke me out so bad I dint know it was the culprit I started cutting out products one after the other until I watched DR. V, I stopped immediately cause I dont wanna waste it I use it for my underarms and when its finished I am not buying it
Thanks a lot on this information it help a lot, and help how we do the right procedure.... In my place its hard to find Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate its ok if I use the other option like ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE SOLUTION 12%?
I forget which video it is that she did but I believe that is an alternative. I actually just received the ascorbyl glycoside solution today! Can’t wait to add it to my routine.
Thank you phoenix_sol_riseup i alreadt order it coz when I see the contents it is almost the same..... Such a beautiful information .... It helps a lot😊😘
I have really bad pigmentation on cheeks and darker on forehead. Only noticeable in last 2yrs. Seen Dermatologist and prescribed Pigmanorm which I got a bad reaction from. I am terrified to try it again. I am fair skinned British Bangladeshi so pigments show up on my complexion. I would love advise to try a new routine. Plz plz help. I have MS so dermatology assume this may be result secondary to meds I use longterm for MS namely Amitriptyline and Pregablin.
please please please make a video on face cleansers/ foaming cleansers.... fr combination pigmentation skin! ordinary, simple, sebamed, laroche posay, cetaphil, bioderma, avene foaming cleanser, cerave... i have gone thru their ingredient list..im skeptical on some of them..we need ur opinion!
Lovvvve all of your videos THANK YOU 😭 can you PLEASE make an Ordinary layering routine for dry sensitive acne prone dark skin that also includes how to prevent acne and treat hyperpigmentation? Just want to make sure the products mentioned in this video will work with acne centered products.
This is what i need to , i brought these products.... and used them tonight. but now im worried becuase my face is tingling ... so maybe i shouldnt have used it with acne irritated skin
Dr. Rattan, you recommend The Ordinary's natural moisturizing factors + HA in several videos. I looked up the ingredients and for several of them there is evidence of health toxicity. For instance, studies for triethanolamine have shown it is an immune & respiratory toxicant; chlorphenesin has evidence of allergic dermatitis, skin irritation, and being an immunosuppressant; propanediol is a skin irritant & there's evidence of endocrine disruption. When looking at products, do you take into account the potential toxicity of other ingredients outside of drying alcohol, fragrances, essential oils? Some of the toxic ingredients are also used in other NAFE-safe products. I'm concerned about using products with toxic ingredients that can cause not just skin but health issues down the line.
Dr. V, you are just heaven sent! You’ve helped me SO much. I made some changes in my skincare routine after binge watching your videos and in less than two weeks I’m already seeing improvement in my melasma condition. Thank you so much for being so generous and caring to do this for us.
I use derma co 1% hyaluronic sunscreen aqua gel. I was never a fan of sunscreen because i never liked it on my skin but this sunscreen feels like i have nothing on. It’s hybrid both chemical and physical.
I'm from the U.S. and just discovered you. Thank you for making this video. Very helpful. However, for those of us who don't have the time to layer products, is there one product of actives that you could recommend we use to replace these layerings?
Hi Dr. V! I am truly enjoying learning from you! In "LAYERING The Ordinary for ANTI-AGING" you recommended the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate as the last step after the Granactive Retanoid, stating that it is a cream and should be laast (even though it is water based). In this video you recommend the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate BEFORE the Granactive Retanoid. Are you able to clarify?
I have same questions from her, e.g , in majority of her videos she recommends lactic acid 5% and then in some, she says 10% is okay... myself confused.
I know I'm late watching this but I have a question. The Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate has been out of stock for months. I can't find this product anywhere. Do you know any alternative to this product that I can use with the other products you recommend? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
The magnesium ascorbyl phosphate seems to have been out of stock for months on the ordinary website. are there any alternative vitamin c treatments from the ordinary that you would recommend?
God bless you for posting this! You’ve made Me excited about reviving my skin and Finally sorting out my hyperpigmentation issues which have always affected my confidence
Thank you so much for this! I have one question and one recommendation: 1) The Ordinary is completely out of the Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate. In other videos, you have recommended their Ethylated Ascorbic acid 15%. Can that be incorporated safely into this regime in lieu of the Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate? 2) It would be fantastic if you could do a video for The Ordinary for Hyperpigmentation AND anti-aging. What can we safely combine from each regime to combat both hyperpigmentation and the aging process? Or do you have to keep these regimes completely separate?
I know this question was asked over a yr ago but this is what I use: cleanser, Alpha Arbutin, Buffet, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F, & a moisturizer in tha morning. In the evening, I add the Azelaic Acid before moisturizing.
I went to a dermatologist about my hyperpigmentation and skin tags problems and I was basically told it's genetics and I can't do anything about it. By the way, I am a Filipino. My mom and my grandma have the same skin problems.
SMH, I used to think the same thing. I even had doctors check me for anemia multiple times for “light spots” but really it was just normal skin next to A BUNCH of hyperpigmentation 🤦🏽♀️. This is why we need more people to understand non-white skin! So thankful for people like Dr. V ❤️
I experienced the same thing. This let's me know most dermatologist aren't for people of color or they would have better information and help like Dr. Vanita is doing.
This video was so beautifully done. This is the most comprehensive guide I have ever see on the topic. Any advice as to where I would position Mandelic Acid 10% within this routine? Would I need to alternate days? Or drop the retinol the nights I use it? Thank you again for such a informative video ☺️
Hey doctor V Currently I am thinking about this skin care: 1. Micellar water cleanse 2. Cerave hydrating cleanser 3. Alpha Arbutin (the ordinary) 4. Azelaic acid (the ordinary) 5. Simple replenishing rich moisturiser 6. Nivea 50+ sun protect Do you think this is okay or do you think I need to change the sun screen before I used the la Roche posay 50+ one. Should I go back to using that one? And should I use a different moisturiser ? Thank you for this video I hope I get a reply.
Hi Dr, this layering is extremely important and I can’t find magnesium ascorbyl phosphate like everyone else, could you please suggest an alternative. Hope you reply
YES YES YES!! Thank you for making these videos, especially geared towards skin of color! I feel as though we finally have a platform specifically for us ❤️
I uses 1- simple moisturizer. 2- salicylic acid 3- the Ordinary niaciamide 4- the Ordinary alpha arbutin 5 - the Ordinary vitamic c (in the tube). Is this routine looks OK to you?
@@justinapena6036 okay im gonna ask if they have it. Is the cerave vit c serum good replacment too? 😅 I was browsing what vit c i can put on my face lol
I am a GP and this is the first time I watched your youtube. I have been searching for a few years on how to treat my facial hyperpigmentation spots due to exposure to Austalian sun for >40 years.I am now aged 64. This happened in my 40s not earlier & there is no family history. I want to commend you on such an informative video which makes a lot of sense. I also want to commend you for all the research you have done on products in this case the Ordinary.I am sure you were motivated because you have the same problem. I will watch more of your videos to see which I can try formy particular problem. Thank you again for clear no nonsense advice.
Finally, a specialist qualified in this subject! The only doc to listen to for skin of colour! Yes! This is spot on for my remedy! Thank you so much Best Regards
Hi Dr. Rattan, the order of application is slightly different at the end of the video than how it was presented, can you confirm if the correct order is how it’s recapped in the end? Also, does anyone no where I can find the magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and 5% granactive retinol? Everywhere online seems sold out
@@vanitarattan can I use the ascorbic 8% alpha arbutin 2% to replace the arbutin in this routine? Or would it replace the alzeiac acid in this routine? Thank you so much! I also have roisehip oil would this be used before moisturiser or should I leave this out?
hello everyone howz everyone doing. I was going to give some feedback on the madelic acid from ordinary. The best. I have severe hyperpigmentation mainly due to peeling and neglecting my skin. It works wonders. If any of you have stubborn dark spots please give The ordinary mandelic acid a try. Obviously you have to find out what works for you. But for me applying with a drop every place i had dark patches every other day to 2 days helped.
Thanks! I was deciding btw mandelic acid and alpha arbutin. Does the mandelic acid helps with exfoliating dry skin as well? My forehead is dry as compared to my cheeks, lip area and chin.
@@nicoled272 Sorry not sure if that helps with dry skin. I read a review here that it did . Link below theordinary.deciem.com/product/rdn-mandelic-acid-10pct-ha-30ml?redir=1 Dr.V recommends using only once a week if using on the whole face and moisturize with no other actives that day. That is how I started after one week of patch testing. Now I just use a drop on the darker spots as I got better. Sorry could not help more.
Dr, if i introduced Mandelic acid frm odrinary to my routine, where should it fit? Any changes/ precautions should b considered then? Pls pls let me know
Doc: I use Azelic acid, Cerave around eyes everyday. Is that ok? Or should I alternate with Arbutin and caffeine from Ordinary every other day? Please guide me
Hi! I’ve got an important question. I couldnt find the magnesium ascorbyl phosphate serum so can i use the revolution 12.5% vitamin C instead? I would love to get an answer from you
Hi Doctor how to do when I have al this problems: hyperpigmentation, aging and acne. Can I use one skin care one week and next week another skin care? Thank you!❤️🌷
Hi what would be an alternative for vitamin c magnesium ascorbyl phosphate for this exact routine? I can’t find it anywhere and I would like to follow that exact routine.
Ayesha Tahir did u ever get a reply to your question ? I got all products besides MAP and now stuck as to what to use in its place ... please advise if u found the solution .. thnx
