@@andrewekstrom7919 was hoping he was going to be a beast for my A-State Red Wolves when he transferred there in 2012, as we were coming off of a 10 win season, but nah...dude got kicked off the team.
This is exactly why parents need to teach their kids the importance of who you hang out with....I still feel lucky that I never got in trouble when hanging around people in high school who also played sports but I didnt realize what they were up too
I was lucky when I was in high school. I had a good group of friends, we weren't perfect, we drank and smoked pot. We partied a little bit but we didn't do anything destructive. None of us were athletes persay but we were musicians who played soccer and I played youth basketball. I couldn't pass my freshman physical to play football or any sports due to a spinal issue. My group of friends kept each other out of trouble, if someone screwed up we made sure they didn't get in trouble. I still remember, my senior year of high school our homecoming party had the cops show up twice, looking for a missing freshman girl who was at the party, I didn't know who she was but when they came the second time we left but my friend who was driving said, "I"m not sure if I should be driving and everyone in the truck agreed we should pull over off the main road and just sleep in the truck." Good friends take care of each other.
Man he was one of my favorite quarterbacks in college football growing up. It aucks that he ruined hia career and ruined his future of playing in the NFL but hey at least he's having a great career in the CFL
Played a long time in the CFL. What Masoli taught me is you have to stop before you leave a residence or a business. Stop right before you begin driving on the street. Look around, proceed onto that street when it's safe.
@@garyklyce713as a life long lions fan who watched Joey his final year at Oregon, I respectfully disagree on the talent part, Joey had the ideal size and talent for Detroit at the time but our roster was so atrocious that no other rookie in that position would’ve been successful, Joey rookie year our stating rb was James Stewart I believe which is unbelievable lol Millen got Joey receivers and Kevin Jones but it just didn’t work out which sucks, lions 4 life
Hey Matt! Can you do what happened to Daryll Clark video (former Penn State QB)? That would be a perfect video. The man went 22-4 as a starter and won a big ten championship. Played in the rose bowl. Finished in the top 10 both seasons, he was the starter. And he barely gets a mention among top PSU QBs. In fact, still run into fans who wish Devlin got more of a look.
Entitlement & ego are very dangerous for a young man. There is a reason you see a lot of high level athletes fall into this BS. No one around them is willing to call them out in their actions.
He tried to be gangster and he got caught doing gangster things. I don't think he even understood what entitlement was or meant. Product of environment and very poor choices. Literally paved the way for mariotas camp/family protecting him and not following this path
@@joshthom1937 dude it’s such a weird concept a lot of these dudes have like they aren’t even from the streets or thugs but get away from home and all the sudden they wanna be a gangster I’ve seen it 100s of times as a college strength coach. It’s actually scary a certain demographic of young men feel like they have to be a criminal or thug to fit in. Weird af.
@bc5208 that's completely it. He wasn't trying to be extreme or get real street cred just caught up trying to impress sone low level delinquents he was around. I'm it's Eugene ,Oregon and he's hottest name om campus. Does he really need to but weed? No he's actually trying to sell low level amounts. Driving around with no license, weed, and a scale..for what? Oh yeah to look cool. Tragic story and just needed better guidance and role models around him
@@joshthom1937 yeah it’s honestly weird af because a lot of the men in that community from about age 14 have the “can’t nobody tell me nuffin” mindset so it’s almost impossible to try and guide them at all. Let alone being a star athlete on top of it having everyone telling him how great he was. Bro probably thought he was untouchable. Lmao like imagine being the star, starting QUARTERBACK for a major power five university and your mindset is “yeeeee bruh, let me go out and sell some weed… matter a fact.. let me drive around with it in my car with no license and paraphernalia too…” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 like wtf type of mindset is that??? Where do you even develop that logic???
Hey Matt, Can you please give me a story on Antonio Alfano. At one point he was the #1 player for the class of 2019 (with guys like Spencer rattler, Kyle Hamilton, etc in the same class), the next thing you know, he never played a single snap in college football
Another banger. Truly does always make my days a little bit better. I advocate for an Eric Crouch vid under pretty much every new upload so here's a fun tidbit: Masoli and Manziel were on the TiCats roster at the same time for a brief period AND Masoli and Crouch were on the same roster for the Omaha Nighthawks in 2011!
I would never plead guilty to shit I didn’t do. I don’t care if I was facing jail. The perception of your character would harm you more. I work for everything I have and I’m proud of that. Plus they literally had no proof because no one, even the guy that had the stuff stolen said he saw Masoli with it.
I plead guilty to a robbery I didn’t do at the end of highschool. I lost all of my scholarships. I didn’t steal a thing but the 2 guys I was with took a PlayStation from a house they use to live at. I didn’t want to risk the 2-10 years and took the plea bargain to stay out of prison and not have a felony. I feel exactly what he did!
@@gen-xboomer9489 that’s exactly what I said!! You face the possibility of going to prison or being a free person at 18 years old and you would do the same thing! You obviously haven’t been I that situation. I have to live with that decision everyday! You act like it’s not true yet it happens to people more than you know obviously.
I was in a nightclub with this guy, my cousin and his whole entourage him and some guy got into it and I know everybody was fighting all these big ass. Samoans were knocking people out and I’m watching masoli punch this guys face in it was crazy!!
I do very much appreciate putting up the romonce Taylor vid, it shows that you really do read these comments and take us serious!! I watch every video and wanna say thx for the great and awesome channel!!
Thanks for the content! It was great! Hey, thing is though I am a die-hard Florida Gator fan. I wondered if you can do a where are they now on Jeff Driscoll?
Huge fan here , been watching for 2 years now and I would love if you made a video on what happened to AJ Jenkins ! Round 1 receiver to the niners that just never went to planned
Thanks @mattbegreat for an amazing story this guy was a great Athlete I really wish he could’ve made better choices but the fact that he’s still playing is amazing
A little over a week ago I had said you should maybe do a video on DAT, (which you did just a couple days later CRAZY) Vernon Adams Jr, LaMichael James and few other UofO RB’s (Barner, Stewart etc) that came through to play for my Ducks. It’s cool you did this one on Jeremiah Masoli I hadn’t mentioned him though but that’s a name I haven’t thought of in awhile. I would like a what happened to Vernon Adams especially I thought he came in and did the absolute best he could for us.
I think the issue is type of lawyer his family could afford. That is a sad situation, but if family didn’t have the means to hire a quality lawyer he had to take the deal. Glad he was able to play at another university and continue his career in the CFL and is still playing which is impressive.
He plead guilty to burglary like so many other innocent people do, because the "justice" system is corrupt and broken. They don't care about justice or unnecessarily ruining peoples lives, they only care about convicting someone, regardless of actual guilt. There is no accountability or consequence and the laws hardly ever are applied to them (prosecutors, DA's, judges, LEO's) so why would they ever change? Masoli was just another victim of the criminal justice system that honestly does more harm then good.
You’re exactly right Matt it’s a hard decision a very hard decision I would definitely pled guilty and avoid jail before I risk going to jail unless I had the money to get the absolute best lawyer
Funny that game against Oregon state was the day I became an Oregon fan 😭 didn’t know what I was looking at but the unis were fire to me I was playing peewee football at the time so it makes sense
I would never plead guilty to shit I didn’t do. I don’t care if I was facing jail. The perception of your character would harm you more and people would think of you as thief. I work for everything I have and proud of that. Plus they literally had no proof because no one, even the guy that had the stuff stolen said he saw Masoli with it.
I would never plead guilty for a crime I didn’t commit I rather get falsely imprisoned then admit to something I didn’t do. I believe that him and his family either got scared into pleading guilty
Jason Gwaltney RB recruit for WVU who was the THE Guy; hardly played, and quickly overlapped by Steve Slaton. Also, where's Jason White, 2003 Heisman Trophy winner up to?
Definitely time for “what happened to Devon Thomas” the Oklahoma State recruit that got sent to jail for robbing a gas station because he BOX JUMPED THE COUNTER” and gave one of the most legendary interviews jumping over a fence, giving the interview, and jumping back over all to say “they ain’t gonna find me!” 😂
Haha I was about to go to arena-LA Kiss or CFL. I worked in Hollywood during off season with many other teammates from Los Angeles. I wound up being placed on Patriot act list and went to jail. (Looking at a life sentence for saying something to gf while brushing teeth(( I never yell)). Later that day I got arrested, sent to LA county for four months with a letter my mom sent from AFL saying where I was since I missed practice (held in Los Angeles). I took a deal for 3 years upstate knowing football was a wash but still could go back to writing at a studio. (While upstate, I was a tutor getting over 50 inmates to get into college) - ps my GF's dad works for DARPA which I think got me placed in Patriot act list. - during 2020 I went back to writing ( future tech stories) and I was placed on government watch list again and blacklisted from Hollywood. Turns out multiple stories are true about private documents I unknowingly figured out from a company called... DARPA.
Yeah this is a W. Both times they guy was just trying to have friends and whoever was paying attention to him obviously was a bad crowd. Guy seems like the quiet and smart kind. They didn't have any evidence that he stole or had the stolen mats. I hate that in court when they try to force you to a plea deal even if you aren't guilty you might say guilty anyways. I don't know anyone that stops if no one is coming out of a gas station parking lot. Who knows if that was his. who cares though. He wasn't high and driving or something. His character showed the rest of his life, and he made the best of it and did well. Just had some bad luck IMO. So yeah. GOod call and good coverage.
