man this video is so well done on so many levels, but i want to especially commend your speech; it's enjoyably conversational and relaxed. EXACTLY what i look for in a documentary. Your like Dan Carlin with visuals and without sounding like your narrating an action movie trailer.

It's always enlightening to return to the knowledge that for most of history humanity was by and large dependent on sea travel to communicate, trade or war with our neighbours. Our modern world with excellent land communications has made us forget how different the world looks when seen from the rivers, seas and oceans. This was brilliant, thank you.

Love historical documentation. Always repeating in different costume bit like a plot in a good book or movie recurs in other genera. My interest is the contact between civilizations origins of history places Egyptian civilization and mesoptomeian next to each other and trade with indus saraswati civilization with flow of tin from burma to middle east. New theories being studied on indus saraswati civilization and questioning many assumptions from previous theories. Have you heard of the finds in south india! Dating pre 1800 bc. Humans always been connected with art and bling! Pull factor. Food shelter disease - push factor. Just listened to probability and influence of famine and disease in the late bronze age decline present pandemic giving some insight into spread in bronze age.

The sea people’s were either Illyrians (infamous pirates of the Mediterranean that Rome eventually had to pacify) or ancient Sardinians, possibly the Balari or the lolaes - proto-Phoenicians/Punics who settled Sardinia and mixed with the indigenous (Iberic type) inhabitants. Those tribes were also famous maritime raiders who left a legacy as far north as Britain. Seems likely that they would engage soft targets throughout the southern Mediterranean.

The answer to these questions was published more than 15 years ago in the specialised journal “Mediterranean Archaeology” (vol. 16, 2003), in the article titled “The Sea Peoples and the Historical Background of the Trojan War”, written by C. Moreu. This is the abstract of the cited paper: “The so-called Sea Peoples were involved in several conflicts at the end of the Bronze Age. The great inscription on the mortuary temple of Ramesses III, reporting the final crisis of the Sea Peoples, is written in a very ambiguous style. This is why the text of Medinet Habu has usually misled the scholars of the crisis. In general, it is believed that a coalition of five Sea Peoples devastated Anatolia, Cyprus and Syria, and then finished their raid attacking Canaan and Egypt. However, further study of data proves that these five peoples, vassals of the Hittites, had their original settlement in some of the wasted lands of Anatolia and Syria. In fact, they had suffered great defeat in their own countries, having to migrate to the Egyptian borders and invade Palestine. Their enemies (or the true attackers in the north) were Mycenaean. These aggressors conquered some coastal lands, at the same time as the Mushki and the Kashka destroyed the Hittite empire. Troy was one of the Anatolian cities attacked by the Mycenaean Greeks, and thus the legendary Trojan War has an evident historical background.” You can find the whole text of the article in sea-peoples.blogspot.com/2009/09/crisis-of-1200-bc-in-eastern.html and also in www.academia.edu/7034375/CARLOS_MOREU_The_Sea_Peoples_and_the_historical_background_of_the_Trojan_war The same thesis was published in France in the book “La Guerre de Troie: Au-delà de la légende” livre.fnac.com/a2222992/Carlos-Moreu-La-guerre-de-Troie-au-dela-de-la-legende

It should be noted hat the Copper/ Tin alloy of brass, is not the only type of alloy that is considered as Bronze. There is also the Copper/ Arsenic / Lead variety. And can be considered to be like the grades of Gasoline. However the CopperTin would have to be considered as the Premium grade. So in that fashion, using the allusion of the raw Copper and Tin, could be considered as that of crude oil. Although even crude oil may have impurities by region. With possible considerations of transportation risks, trade routes that are Island hopping from raw supplier ( Tin from Eastern Iberia) through middlemen who are also craftspeople converting into finished goods such trade would most likely have had Cyprus as the closest port to Ugarit. Therefore an official letter of a. Tax break. From Ugarit to Crete, seems to be an attempt to cut Cyprus out of the dealings. Since we. Do not have historical references of the political trade actions in Cyprus, this must remain as speculation. To make further determinations, it would be wise to gather the current maritime charts. Regarding currents and normal wind directions and velocities, to consider what the Mediterranean trade routes would most likely be for 5hetransportation of goods.

Copper and nickel is brass. Copper and tin is main road to bronze. Copper and tin plus a smattering of silver would be premium grade.

Civilisations never collapse for a single reason rather for a host of reasons .....the comparisons between we of now and regarding the past there are similarities we can consider .... What stands out to me upon listening to your podcast are diverse peoples from distant places encountering one another ....coeval with this exchange is the transmissible diseases particular to diet and lifestyle as most diseases of humanity have their reservoir in an animal species tha5 has either become a part of diet an$ or a beast of burden ...and ancient history is best considered with such possibilities ... More a civilisations collapse is not due to one feature but a host...

That is only a guess. There is no solid evidence. They know it was more arid, but ancient civilizations have been through drought and famine many times. And it didn't effect Assyrians or Phoenicians, Philistines etc. Most of the Old Testament was about 1100-700 BC.

It would be nice if competent authority would investigate the possibility of a grand solar minimum, and the consequent famines and sickness brought on by the extended cooler climate during that period, like the one we are going through now. Kline talks about the famines and plagues, without ever saying why they were going on,, in his video "1177, the year civilization ended".
