The 2008 event will always stand out to me. Seeing Ben(SmashR32) trash his HPA twin car all weekend and meeting people I'm still friends with almost 15 years later, great memories.
I got my mk8 last weekend, expecting a baby in August. My wife and I are hoping we will have our shit together and be able to make Wookies 2023 our first family road trip. Very cool to get an insight into the origins and Founder(s). Fuck cancer.
My first time this year, come in from the UK and had a blast, met some cool people and finally met with Facebook friends. Its good to see how it started and how its grown Flights booked for next year, really hope i can fly over every year
I’m so sorry to hear Grant passed away. This video was emotional for me, seeing the donation to the autism society as my daughter is autistic and my father died of cancer in 2010. But what brought me to tears was hearing Grant talk about quality of life and not quantity of life. It made me tear up thinking about how my dad lived life to the fullest and had such a love for those around him, including me. I really hope to be a part of the Wookies family one day as my fiancée is an avid VW driver and loves tinkering with it. Thank you for this video ❤️
This one was my first year, I was so close to not going because my friends bailed last minute. I'm so glad I went and got to experience Wookiees in the Woods. I was very nervous being by myself but everyone there was super nice and just amazing. I had a good time at the fire, drinking and hanging out with y'all. (Also sorry Paul I froze up when you started talking to me. You threw me off guard and I was a little under the influence lol) Thank you Grant for this amazing event, I had such a great time its hooked me for life to come back! Thank you everybody that came!
ive been part of car culture since the 80s because of what my parents do for a living, but the vw scene has been by far the best crew of people to hang out with regularly. i cant wait to make a wookies meet one of these years once i get my mk3 splashed with some paint
Absolutely the best event every year, that I get to attend I couldn't be more grateful that this event has been so successful over the years, and able to give back to community and those who ha e supported it along the way💚💚💚
I can’t believe I haven’t seen this video until now, great work guys. I never got to meet Grant but I feel I have now. Wookies is truly a great big family and I’m glad to be involved.
it’s always my dream to go to this wookies in the woods event! ever since i’ve heard it and seen photos i’ve been dying to go! i’m only 18, almost as old as a r32 mk4 lol. you guys make this event each year so cool. if only i wasn’t in washington! hope fully next year i’ll be able to show up.
I’ve had 4 Volkswagens myself. I had a 95 Jetta III VR6, a 73 beetle, a Taos and an atlas. The vr6 Jetta definitely had the fondest memories. I do love the turbo ones and the torque they put down at a low rpm living where I do now. I would love to get another Jetta though. Sorry to hear about what’s been going on. I do one day want to see this event though also.
Grant was one of the best people I know. I am still in shock that he has passed. I am not a car guy, but I would love to meet everyone that knew Grant and hear your stories.
As a OG R32 owner, I'm saddened by the loss of Grant. Even though I've never been to WITW but plan to one day with the R32, the community he helped build around this event will live on for a long time. RIP Grant, you'll be missed.
I wish I went this year but my VR6 Jetta got rear ended and I decided to stay home to save money. Next year I’m there, and bet your ass I’m bringing some kind of vr6
I am going to try and ship my MK7 R from Alberta Canada and make the event for next year. It would be a 2203 miles and take 34hours otherwise. Who knows maybe I'll do the full drive out.
We have an award for the furthest driven. The event is all about the driving. One of the slogans is “Drive More”. Suggest planning ahead bring a copilot and drive here!
Yo deutsche! Love the videos. Always reference your vids when i do upgrades on my gti you guys make it so easy! Quick question tho, is it safe to run half my tank with e85 and the other half with 91? Gas prices are crazy in cali lol
i have to ask, we (a group of friends) were planning on doing something like wookies in the woods but for the Croatian (Europe) soil. May we use your name (Wookies in the woods) for the event?
I truly wish people around here were more accepting at car meets. Only been to a handful over the years after i bought my FR-S brand new. Thought "ya go and check out what other people are doing" and have a chat. Im pretty introverted but i thought it couldnt hurt, worse come to worse i just leave early. Every single meet ive been too, even a scion based one, all these fuckers would do is try to one up everybody else on what there ride is or isnt. Everybody is up their own ass so far they can see the dangly bit in the back of your thoat. Like dude ya its cool your Si makes 400 wheel, but you dont need to talk down to everybody else like you got something to prove. Aaaaaanyways To say concisely "I am quite jealous of your car meets"
Please don't mothball cars!!! Recently inherited several cars Ive had to remove the entire interior from to clear the smell even after weeks airing out
@@99SVTBolt you mean a bit like thousands of people driving from all over Europe in convoys just to go and then driving all round the lake all day and up into the mountains for the 3 weeks that the show goes on for? Its a shame it’s all over now , woerthersee is no more .
@@99SVTBolt yeah apparently but it will be interesting to see what the locals think? There’s so many people and cars , it can take up to 3 hours just to do a few miles in velden when it’s busy. I’d be happy though as it’s a lot closer to the uk but I don’t think it’ll be as scenic. I’d like to go to the woerthersee in the USA just to see what it’s like
Different animal entirely - WITW is more driving and not a lot of “show”. I would love to go to Wortheesee some day! Best is definitely subjective. Come give it a try!
I laughed extremely hard too!!!!! I've never seen a car brand come close to this kind of event. Maybe the PCA? But those guys don't know how to drive...
