I'm impressed that guy could tell what type of nails Mike was using from however far away he was. That's a true Hank Hill power if ever there was one.

It's a crime that King Of The Hill isn't as talked about alongside other great shows of that era of television. It's one of my all-time favorite shows. I'd love to see it in this era of time with older versions of the characters.

Growing up in Dallas throughout the 90’s and 2000’s really gave me an opportunity to experience far too much of this show in reality. It’s uncanny how realistic the show was at times!

Howie was on the nose about how these cartoons depict reality; King of the Hill is phenomenal at displaying a southern culture in a fairly accurate light.

Being from Dallas County, I can attest to those old guys who used to hang in the alley drinking a beer and having a smoke after work, solid guys who did real work with their hands, I tell ya what..

I can literally picture hank seeing a neighbor trying to repair a fence then he and the guys turn it into a whole project

I grew up watching King of the Hill. Once the show was cancelled, there was a really large dent in American television. The show remains relevant and brilliant.

cant believe i hated this show as a kid but coming back at the age of 28 last year and finally watching it all the way thru quickly turned it into a show i watch every day

It's called being a good neighbor and helping out those that need help.

I live in Texas and can attest to this, my wife and I are in our first house and when I try to do something around the house on the weekend all the older guys from around the neighborhood will come and teach me how to do it right. There's something about Texas. Yep.

I totally identify with those guys. You honestly made their day by allowing them to take over and fix it. To me there is not much better than having a couple beers and getting something done right. It's a simple pleasure but it's so damn satisfying and it's healthier than most dopamine hits available.

King of the Hill stands as a testament to our tendency to underappreciate remarkable shows. It may not have garnered overwhelming popularity during its original run, yet its absence made us painfully aware of the void it left behind when it was no longer on. Undoubtedly, Mike Judge's brilliance proves evident over time.

My dad used to watch King of the Hill with me and he would find it so hilarious and weird because he said that's exactly how people are down in that part of Texas😂😂

It always amazes me how _foreign_ the idea of being a good, friendly neighbor is to people who aren't from the South.

I can relate to this. I moved to the Midwest and my neighbor is in his 70s. Before I even met the guy, he would snow blow his driveway and the sidewalk in front, look at the other houses on the street, not be satisfied with how they did it, and would start snow blowing everyone else’s driveways and sidewalks. I’ve lived here 5 years now and he still does it every time it snows without being asked. I really gotta buy the guy a keg at this point with all the beers I owe him.

Mike Judge is truly a comedic genius. From King of The Hill, Beavis and Butthead to Idiocracy. Funny masterpieces

Sounds like this guy had some really nice neighbors. Most of us have neighbors that would try to look the other way if our house was on fire so they didn't have to get involved. I hope he appreciates them.

King of the hill is the greatest cartoon ever created. All the characters are real and they for saw the way America was heading all the way back in '97. It's my all time favorite show and glad you had Mik Judge on and tell this story....

Mike Judge is SUCH a Genius!! Everything about him just resonates GENIUS!! He is The Mel Blank or Robin Williams of the 2020's!! Paradoxically, because it WAS animated...it seemed more real than had it been live action.

Mike Judge is one of my favorites...from King of the Hill to Office Space, the man hits the nail on the head (no pun intended) when it comes to culture and scenarios people experience in day to day life. Idiocracy is another one that should be more acclaimed than it is. Some days it feels like we are living that movie!

Growing up, I was always excited to watch King of the Hill during every Friday to the weekends. That show is forever timeless and right on the money with southern life and so forth.

I’m from Texas, currently living in Minnesota, and I have told several people more than once that the cast of King of the Hill are REAL people. That I’ve met these characters more than once. Lol there are definitely people out there just like every character from the cast of King of the Hill.

A buddy of mine grew up in Dallas and he said the characters on King of the Hill are copies of the people in his neighborhood.

This was a fantastic & funny story!! I wish I had a Hank Hill as my neighbor & I would let him do whatever! Lol

I liked this show & then grew to absoutely adore it, particularly after my dad passed away about 20 years ago. He wasn't a blue collar type like Hank, but he had so much of Hank's character & work ethic. I'm sure many die hard fans of this show can relate. I also love seeing all the folks that watch/listen to this show as they fall asleep. I've been doing that too for 10 years i'm sure. I have to rewatch parts the series when i'm awake to see what i'm hearing at night lol!

I loved this show when I was younger. Hank Hill kinda reminded me of my dad. King of the Hill was one of the few animated shows he watched.

King of the Hill is one of the only shows I've binge watched the entire show in the background or with full attention multiple times. It's so good! I found myself even getting into Beavis and Butthead recently. "Hehe FIRE." Mike Judge is just a really funny guy. Haha

the way these southern guys help out strangers just for the good of it. you can imagine how they’d definitely come to his defense if they saw him getting effed with. pretty sure that’s the kind of people jason aldean was talking about in his song “try that in a small town”.

Mike Judge is so authentic in his respect towards people he grew up around and the characters he developed from them. I think it's why he's so successful because at the base, he seems to really like them all.

Dude, I swear to God that my dad had these three friends, and they were all standing in the road and drink too. And the most hilarious part of it is, you couldn’t understand what one of them said, another was fat and bald and they literally had a couch out there during the summer. 😂

I drive a propane truck for a living and we love Hank Hill. He's an icon in our industry. I knew I'd been watching the show too much when I could understand what Boomhauer was saying.

I heard Judge say on The Fly on the Wall podcast that the Hank Hill character was also based on a guy he delivered the newspaper to as a kid. The way he tells that story is pretty funny, as well. He's a great interview.

And your Stories here brought back great Memories of all the Years that I loved in my Beloved State of Texas. I lived there for 17 years total I miss it alot & hope that I can return there to live one day. I have Adult Kids & Grandkids that are still living there to this day..I enjoyed listening to Your You Tube Channel here too Howie. I will Subscribe & listen to it more when I can..I am almost a 7 day Full Time Caregiver here my Relatives & Family Members . So, free time is limited for me. Very limited. I have been Caregiving for 13 years now. Long years. Very long years.

King of the Hill is about loving your father and respecting him, even though he doesn't understand you and it's really difficult to communicate with him.

So cool watching this, I love this shit man. Hopefully one day I could tell my origin story for my animated series. It’s funny because a lot of my characters are based off of people I knew or life experiences I’ve had as well. KOTH is a top tier animated series for sure.

Long story short: Mike Judge was actually Hank Hill’s neighbor and just based the voice on the real guy.

That's the great thing about KOTH and how the characters came to be. We all know someone that is like Hank. I had a member of my family that was just like Peggy. Of course even the more cartoony characters like Dale, Bill and Boomhauer all have qualities that we can tag on someone we know.
