I love this! Loretta like "Don't get it twisted...I know what to do on this stage...LOL" and Jennifer like "Oh shoot, I forgot you CAN sing...LOL" and Sheryl like "I was only the lead singer in the SCRIPT, baby, NOT on this stage with these two...LOL" They sung!
It really blesses my heart to see Jennifer & Sheryl come together and be friends again. I know they once were not speakin to each other during or after their performace of DreamGirls and to see them say hey...We're grown, I forgive You for whatever reason is a blessing! Who knows Tyler Perry may work Jennifer Holliday in one of his plays...I'll keep that in my prayers!!
I wished they did a medley from "Move" to "Family" to "Dreamgirls" to "One Night Only" to, well, you get the picture. I was too young and poor to see the performance on Broadway, so I must rely on youtube videos to see the original Dreams. Thanks for posting this.
I am always amazed by Jennifer Holliday's powerful performance of "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going". I had the pleasure of seeing Miss Holliday perform live several years ago - I hope I get another opportunity to see her perform again! If not, I have a beautiful memory of Miss Holliday performing her signature song LIVE!. I would like to thank Jennifer Holliday for sharing a precious gift - her voice.
Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!! I'm going to cry...this is so touching....OMG I didn't know that Gene Anthony Rae was in Dreamgirls...and I saw it on Broadway back in the day...Amazing...RIP Gene Anthony Rae....Jennifer, you betta SANG...You held that damn note at the end....
ABSOLUTELY! Head voice and a good mixed voice will preserve the voice for years to come. Great training, and continued training [for maintenance] are so important. Side: I love this clip! Peace and love...
hahahahahaha love it "and that is why... I just STAND... in the middle" omg she's so funny!!!! they sound like GOD DAMNED ANGELS and she stole that whole moment wit one sentence hahaha i love her!
Tony Franklin was my partner at the end of his life he was a true inspiration and when they brought down the aids quilt with his name on top I cries so hard just to know that he is remembered by those still living. No Tony you are NOT forgotten!!! You are LOVED! I miss you my dear friend I think of you often.
I have heard Jennifer preform “And I’m telling you” so many times I have lost count. I simply can not imagine going out on the stage and ripping your heart out not to mention her vocal cords 8 shows a week. In videos with a close up the pain and agony in her face is so real. I have read on line polls comparing Holliday & Hudson. Hudson is good, she spent a couple of days in a recording studio but HOLIDAY LIVE 8 TIMES A WEEK, hands down the GOAT.
maaaan..ya'll better stop acting as if you don't know about Loretta Devine! She has a range and voice that is crazy! Jennifer Holliday never got her props but she certainly showed people who owns this song.
Full circle people! Isn't is strange how the Effie character was discriminated for her weight, Jennifer's singing career was stifled because of image and Jen comes back in reality smaller than her counterparts? Even if there was a surgery, that's been years ago and her weight has been kept off. Great seeing them all together, looking beautiful and sounding AMAZING!
Lol....I never thought of it that way. It's like the girl in high school that every guy wanted to talk to--fast foward 10yr high school reunion--then you see her again and it's like DAMN what happened to you. She gained a bunch of weight, gold teeth, and 6 kids with over 3 baby daddys; talkin' about: "remember you use to like me?" And NOW she wants your number. You thinkin, HELL NAW. And the fat girl in high school now done lost a bunch of weight, body bangin, she a career woman with no kids, and all the guys thinkin...DAMN. It bees that way.
Jennifer Holiday sung it 1st and best 🎶🌹🤩💃💖then came Jennifer Hudson both sang the hell out of that song. Makes me wanna go & play my DVD of the movie 😎🤩🤗🤗🤗
If you want to see live performances of Broadway shows. You will need to go to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City to watch original broadway shows recorded live. However, you can only watch the performance of a single show once in your life. So choose wisely.
Because the "original" was a stage production, few of us can make a true comparison. Cast albums notwithstanding, you HAD TO BE in the theatre to have experienced it. I saw & appreciated the Broadway version with the original cast; but also, thoroughly enjoyed the original film adaptation. Hudson and Knowles deserve everything that has come to them. I cheer them on the way I cheered on Ralph and Holliday, back in '83.
I will see Ms Holliday on Jan 19th in Oakland CA sing this and am hoping it will be the best she'll have ever sung it, but I must admit that thus far, that was the best last note sung EVER in any of her performances or any other performance by anyone EVER for that matter of this incredible broadway song. Wow.
Well they had to make it so kids will watch you can't put children in front of the original dreams and expect them to love it I was 6 my 1st time seeing the play but you can't do that now
Recently had the Original Dreamgirls soundtrack on repeat but would always skip I'm not telling you. But I am fascinated when I watch her perform it. I did want more Family though, my favorite song.
This is true, but Jennifer can really act. That's the thing, we all know Jennifer for her VOICE! That voice is what got us hooked but I think we are sleeping on her acting skills. I'm going to put up in the atmosphere that the angels of ministering spirits go to work on her behalf that someone puts her back into plays or back in front of film where she belongs. She is totally UNSUNG!!!
