@@KeepSmiling447 You’re absolutely right. I remember watch AI that season and I love her voice as well but she was all over the place and trying to do too much. It was magic sometimes and at other times it was a complete mess and she didn’t listen to tone down the acrobatic so the audience could get into her voice.

No matter how terrible some believe Simon to be, You should notice that those auditioning breath that sigh of relief and a sense of accomplishment when Simon gives them that thumbs up. He has the talent like no-one else and many seek his validation.

My thoughts exactly. Simon came across unnecessarily harsh to Jennifer, but at the end of the day, his comments and platform allows her to become the person she is today.

Lol, Jennifer didn't change a thing about her voice, it was her exposure on IDOL that landed her the award winning role in Dreamgirls, and Simon had nothing to do with that.

It's actually a blessing in disguise that she didn't win. Most of the Idol "winners" have not had any noteworthy success, plus there are pesky contractual obligations. Some may not even have much of a career in the business any longer. Jen has surpassed pretty much all of them and is right up there with Kelly and Carrie. Jhud was the first to prove that you don't even have to come close to winning such a show to become a superstar. She lost AI and won everything else. An outstanding journey.

@@Selene965 Fantasia is talented in her own right, but when I mentioned noteworthy success, I meant mainstream success. Fantasia has had some success as an R&B artist with some hit singles that I really like, but she doesn't have broad appeal beyond an urban audience. Jhud has had the most all-around success (EGOT) out of anyone from AI, receiving the highest honors across multiple lanes within the business. Other than Jhud, Carrie and Kelly are the only others who can truly compare because they have been so massively successful in the music lane, receiving many accolades as well.

JHud didn’t win because she was just not that popular. Today, she still can’t compete with big artists. She has found success doing other things.

@@Clown10 The whole issue of popularity (among other issues) is what went wrong with AI that season. Numerous contestants suffered because of it and should've went further in the competition. It was a mess. This is why AI began to lose credibility from that point forward, and many ppl stopped watching the show. After all, it was supposed to be about talent first and foremost. And speaking of the "big artists" of today, prioritizing popularity over talent has also adversely impacted the industry. Jhud doesn't fit this era because what she and others, like Ledisi and Andra Day, bring to the table is far too overwhelming for the lowered, watered-down standards of today's music business. She would've excelled in a previous era.

There was never a public apology from him to her. SIMON NEVER believed in Jen he actually said she would never be a solo artist that she should go back to the choir.
