This wasn't the "original" theme song. Tichina wrote and recorded it as possible theme song and submitted it to the producers for consideration but they wound up choosing another instrumental tune. They kept the hook for commercial breaks and the end of the episodes. Tichina confirmed this in a BTS interview for the season 1 DVD release.
