I think a fundamental part of minecraft is making things scary without using blood and horror elements. Such as creepers, creepers are actually pretty cute, but the damage they do and the instant death explosion they can cause is scary! I am glad the warden looks as it does currently as it allows it to be scary in the way it fights.
Low key never scared of the creeper until I here that hiss middle of the night also endermen if I don't expect in in like a cave is some scary stuff aswell
@Zeph Dragon Well the old one really only relied on the mouth design for the scariness which is kinda lame. Blood and gore ≠ scary. Trust me if you went in the deep dark you would be scared. The only reason all the other mobs don't scare us is because we've seen them many times and we all know how to defeat them. The warden is a different case, no matter how good you are at the game you'll still be terrified. I think it's good that they removed the old design anyway. The new one may not be as scary, but it is way cooler. Also the design shouldn't matter when it comes to scariness, it should be the feel of danger that scares you
Trypophobia is also believed to not be a phobia at all, but an instinct. As it cannot be unlearned like most phobias. I like to think that this was to make us stay away from insect nests such as wasps, or to avoid eating infested plants.
I really feel like the stalker should also be a mob exclusive to the deep dark along with the warden. Maybe it attacks in light levels above 0 unless it’s attacked first but I think it’s really cool
....Best make it an alternative to skulk growth. Its like a 50% chance that a deep city will grow skulk or tryphoid like crimson/corruption of terraria.
To be fair even the final warden could be an scp, just a more unnerving rather than straight up gory type scary, not all scps are hyperrealistic or bloody type although that *is* the more common type for the popular ones.
As much as I generally love horror, I think some of the designs were pushing it a bit too much for Minecraft. The final Warden design manages to be eerie and intimidating while still fitting snugly into Minecraft
Stalker seems like a creature that not powerfull as the Warden but still powerfull, like at least killable. It would be a great sidekick. Shame that they will not add it.
Yeah! Honestly I would love to just be digging around near the warden level and I dig through a cave and the stalker just crawls through the hole I broke. Though it needs to be significantly easier to kill
To me they look like silk moth antenna. If you need a reference Google squeaking silk moth. Much more adorable than the Warden but the antenna look like the middle concept
Honestly, I love the Black Warden we got at the end, his terryfyingness is balanced here. Minecraft is at the end 10+ and I don't want to have another case with Inappropriately scary content like Dead Hand in Zelda game for little kids.
We dodged a lot of bullets on this one, most of those earlier concepts were just SCP knock-offs… Sirenhead, the pale statue, and the Old Man, being the most obvious inspirations. Also glad they didn’t choose any of those earlier color palettes, the white on looks like birch wood and the brown looks like mud. The black and cyan make for a dark and eerie feel and I love the end design. I’m really glad they take so much time designing and redesigning these mobs to look just right, these things can’t be rushed.
If I had a nickel every time Minecraft creature and SCP creature has similarity I will had two Nickel, which is wasn't a lot but is weird that happened twice right
Well I definitely don't have trypophobia, I think that concept looks awesome in game! The images that come up when you google the word only intrigue me.
I'm not sure if everyone experiences trypophobia like I do, but for me it's more of a disgusted feeling than fear. The warden trypophobia designs have their holes too far apart and too large for it to be triggered for me though, so I wouldn't even realize that that's what they were going for if it was put in game
bro the fact that the stalker can fit into one block spaces makes me so uncomfortable. Like, imagine you're in a one by one strip mine and you just see that thing coming towards you at high speed
that hallowed warden concept that they almost did with the trypophobia was pretty cool. but it seems more like a mod than minecraft. warden just feels so.. minecraft and that’s pretty great
The thing I find the most interesting is that an older version had wither skeleton skulls as part of it, which lends itself to being created rather than natural.
@@marmyeater that seems to be the most popular theory but I'm not convinced. Given the "hollow" name it had before and the skulls I'm wondering if it was created by using the skulk directly. Instead of an iron golem being corrupted or something it's an entirely created highly predatory guard Ober a specific area
@@slimegod9693 I think the Iron Golem one is the most possible with the proof we have (one of the warden designs also had a villager nose), but usually mc lore is harder to decipher than that so let's wait for matpats take on it
@@slimegod9693 I don't think it was an iron golem, I think it was one of the early villagers, maybe the prototype of them or an offshoot of them, that got taken over by skulk and just kept killing until it absorbed enough life-force to become the warden, similar to the Swarm Lord and Hive Tyrants in Warhammer 40k.
Imagine somehow this thing actually managed to sneak into the files in the texture packs. And when the 1.19 update drops, an eager Minecraft player tries to find a Warden, only to find this abomination.
As much as I love the stalker design, Minecraft is still meant to be for children after all, and I'm glad the developers were willing to go that far for design, and I'm happy kids will get to experience Minecraft scare-free. Fleshy warden probably got dumped for the same reason bloodstone was replaced by netherrack. Gore doesn't fit very well with Minecraft's asthetics
i feel like the shape shifting stalker and the trypophobia monster are ideas that could be reworked and further developed into their own concepts. they both seem like really good content for the End.
I love the trypophobia concepts, reminds me of that Junji Ito manga where people got holes like that in their bodies and the wind would blow through them and make a creepy noise, i hope they can rework the concept into something else, maybe something to to with the end/end stone?
@@karolakkolo123 Its not something you watch lol, its a horror comic called Shivers, or The Chill it has a few different names because it was translated from Japanese, its very good, bit of a slow burn if i remember correctly
They really need to make minecraft more horror like how it used to feel back in the day. Theres no sense of danger now. No fear of the night anymore when you can sleep anywhere. Imagine not being able to sleep and theres these tall black things roaming around at night in the woods. They would be blind until they spot you and then run really fast at you.
My favourite Warden concept is the "mossy" stalker, I like that mix of black stone and oozing green, and the purple heart/glow contrasts well with the green.
@@jayakumarss1818 That is logical in video games and for horror aspects but there is a lot of creatures that live in the darkness that turn pale and blind through evolution so that would make high sense in that manner.. but the truth is that its a fictional creature so they have all the rights to color it however they want. I honestly like color scheme with black and dark green
If the trypophobia version of skulk / warden made it into the game, it would guarantee that I would never go below Y:0. Ever. It's not just an uncomfortable feeling to me - I am entirely and irrationally terrified of the little holes and whatever could be in them. I would not be able to handle it.
@@Em-._.- They don't actually... neither does swiss cheese or similar things. Maybe because I'm too used to those things, or because the holes are too inconsistent in size and spacing... I'd investigate further but I'm not sure I'd be able to force myself to look at that kind of stuff long enough to get any actual data.
Rex is adorable!!! Can we please see pics of Dottie too? EDIT For anyone else who was interested in seeing Dottie, she is on Twitter and she is absolutely beautiful! I would love to give her a furever home. Sadly, I believe I am waaaaaay to far away.
I: can´t decide between the "sirenhead" and "eyeless teddybear"; they´re both terrifying. But yeah, the current Warden fits into MC way better - and it´s still pretty terrifying, especially due to the jerky, wobbly way it moves. I´m _not_ looking forward to meeting it in-game xD
I'm glad the final sculk axolotl version of the warden is implemented because the original holes with void would have made players move away from Minecraft.
Is the warden a undead axolotl. because first dies the axolotl in the sculk and second goes the iron golem. then other dead mobs for the soul's in the chest cavity. then that axolotl that died first is the warden isn't it wait. oh no *screaming*
So the iron golem is the starter base for the new body for axolotl and the soul's for the powerful attack damage. it use soul's for more power like soul weapon's and gear from Minecraft dungeons. were you use soul's for your soul gear to be stronger
If you like any of these designs more and/or want to check them out, I'm sure resource pack creators will have your back, it may even got added as am option to vanilla tweaks to select on of these designs. Also mods, I can see a mod that adds like "layers" of the deep dark on top of each other being really cool.
Man the one that flips in half and chases you would be so awesome. If that becomes a mod then I guess if have to mod my game and add him in. But hopefully someone just makes a datpack to add him. I want it! Bad!
Fun fact: 16 percent of the human population has tripaphobiea and most of them are around the age of 10 to 18 years of age. WHAT HELL WERE YOU THINKING MOJANG!?!!
I honestly don't know which Warden I like. I love Rex 😍 I hope to see more of him 💜💜💜💜. I know you are just testing us to see if we are paying attention but you misspelled " enough" at time stamp 2:55. See we pay attention (or some of us anyway 😂🤣).
The first thing that came to my head when i saw the prototype video of the warden, and after seeing that specific image of the warden, it looked like pink swiss cheese straight out of some horror game
I love the idea of the stalker. My idea is if It was in the game, it would be a summoned mob like a golem, but with difficult to get blocks and/or items. And when I say summoned mob, I mean like an event or something. Once the structure is made, you get a message saying something like, "you feel less safe..." and the stalkers are notlw permanently in the save, but only spawn underground. Maybe it could be a mixture of blocks, maybe a netherite block could be involved the dragon egg maybe, perhaps a wither skeleton head...
The Hog Rider card is opened from the Spell Valley (Arena 5). He is an exceptionally quick structure focusing on, scuffle troop with decently high hitpoints and harm. He shows up very much like his Clash of Clans partner; a man with earthy colored eyebrows, a facial hair growth, a mohawk, and a brilliant body penetrating in his left ear who is riding a hoard. A Hog Rider card costs 4 Elixir to send. Procedure His quick move speed can help forward smaller than expected tanks like an Ice Golem in a push. Simultaneously, he can likewise work as a tank for lower hitpoint troops, for example, Goblins as he actually has a considerable lot of wellbeing. Most modest multitudes supplement the Hog Rider well, as they are close to as quick as him and typically power more than one card out of the adversary's hand. The Hog Rider battles with swarms, as they can harm him down and overcome him rapidly while impeding his way. Savages specifically can completely counter him without extremely severe planning on the safeguard's part, however be careful about spells. A Hunter can kill the Hog Rider in 2 hits whenever put right on top of it. Nonetheless, on the off chance that you place something before the Hog Rider, the Hunter's sprinkle will harm the Hog Rider and hit the card before it more. The Hog Rider related to the Freeze can amaze the rival and permit the Hog Rider to bargain considerably more harm than expected, particularly assuming that the rival's go-to counter is a multitude, or multitudes are their main viable counter to him. Skeletons and Bats will quickly be crushed by the spell, while Spear Goblins, Goblins, and Minions will be at low sufficient wellbeing to be crushed by a subsequent Zap or Giant Snowball. Nonetheless, this technique isn't exceptionally compelling against structures as the Hog Rider will require a significant stretch of time to obliterate the structure, giving the rival sufficient chance to express another counter. Against non-swarm troops, it can bargain a great deal of harm during the freeze time, however this can permit the adversary to set up a huge counterpush. Consequently, players ought to either possibly go for a Hog Rider + Freeze when they have different units upholding it from a counterattack, or then again in the event that the match is going to end and they need to bargain however much harm as could reasonably be expected. It's anything but smart to send in a Hog Rider just to annihilate a structure, particularly in the event that it is the main structure focusing on unit accessible, as overcoming Crown Towers turns out to be significantly more troublesome. Spells or basically holding up out the lifetime of the structure are more powerful. The exemption for this is an Elixir Collector put before the King's Tower. On the off chance that a Hog Rider put at the scaffold, he can annihilate the Collector for a positive Elixir exchange, however the harm from both Princess Towers will normally mean he doesn't make due to bargain any harm to them. In any case, assuming that the rival sends in shielding troops, it very well may be a chance to acquire spell harm esteem. In a deck with a few minimal expense cards, everything will work out for the best to just send the Hog Rider against one structure. These decks mix their card turn adequately speedy, that they will show up to their next Hog Rider before the following structure shows up in the adversary's card revolution. Since quite a while ago ran troops like Musketeer and Flying Machine can kill those structures, protecting a portion of the Hog Rider's wellbeing, conceivably permitting it to get some Tower harm. Whenever there are structures put in the center to counter the Hog Rider, understanding the arrangement of the Hog Rider and the sort of building set can help the Hog Rider to sidestep specific structures. Detached structures, for example, spawners and Elixir Collector have a bigger hitbox than cautious structures; and that actually intends that assuming an inactive structure was set 3 tiles from the waterway in the adversary's side, then, at that point, it is outside the realm of possibilities for the Hog Rider to sidestep that position as the Hog Rider will get pulled to that structure. Cautious structures have a more modest hitbox than an inactive structure, and that implies if that assuming a protective structure was put three tiles from the waterway in the rival's side, a Hog Rider put at the exceptionally left or right half of the Arena might have the option to sidestep it because of its more modest hitbox. Assuming the player has a structure previously positioned down in the focal point of the field, and the rival attempts to sidestep it with a Hog Rider at the edge of the field, they can utilize specific air troops to push the Hog Rider towards the structure as it gets around the stream, adequately denying the detour endeavor. They should be now drifting over the right arrangement, as extremely fast reflexes are needed to accurately play out this procedure. For Bats, Skeleton Dragons, and Minion Horde, they should be set directly before the Hog Rider when it is sent. For Minions, Skeleton Barrel, Mega Minion, Flying Machine, Electro Dragon, Baby Dragon, Inferno Dragon, Balloon, and Lava Hound, stun the above arrangement one tile to the right in the event that the Hog Rider is put on the left half of the field, as well as the other way around. They can likewise utilize ground troops to accomplish a similar outcome.2
I honestly hope the deep dark has more mobs than just the warden, some of these warden concepts are just too good to pass up and could probably be reused
That’s a bad idea. The Warden needs to be the one and only threat in the Deep Dark. It’s just a better decision from a gameplay standpoint. There will be eeriness and tension, more mobs in the area would just cause that atmosphere to be diluted.
The trypophobia skulk seems to be based on the Bleeding Tooth Fungus. Fascinating! (Don't look up the fungus if you're trypophobic, it's quite disgusting.)
Such form in 17:36 with darkness effect and trypophobia background? It makes the first impressions of endermen's creepy noise and elder guardians' fatigue effect seem sweet 😨😨
6:26 Oxidizing Copper is the same process as oxidizing iron. The process is called Oxidation. The only difference is that iron oxide has a common name: rust. Just like how sodium chloride is call table salt
The siren head warden will be awesome. Imagine you walking around in the cave and you hear a sound like a dog, cow, villager and etc around the the dark cave. You will be confused of why it in the cave and you decide you check it out until you see tall figures.
Horror in non horror games is always a plus. This game reminded me of my favorite franchise Legend of Zelda back in 2009, it's why I started playing it, and why I loved Minecraft now. Games like Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess all had these creepy elements at some point in their games throughout your adventure. Minecraft adopting it really excites me. However Proto Warden was better, reminds me of Dead Hand. I prefer that look a lot more that the derpy look Minecraft is known for.
Loved the video @wattles! Can't wait for the next video man! I think I'll stick to the Current Warden, you can go ahead and have fun with SCP's very own Shy Guy and get your Face, Arms, Legs and whatever else that can be Pulled from your body torn to shreds LMAO!
skulk tribes that hate eachother (Dumb skulk tribe ideas) 5:29 9:03 trypo tribe: deaf loot hoarders(holds stuff in its holes) 5:46 rust tribe: carries iron and copper loot. Skulk entities that rival the villagers in terms of trading (mid-level trading) 6:57 undeath tribe: skeletal skull versions of mobs to attack (moar skeleton shooting) 7:38 wither skulk tribe: skulk that absorbed the wither (loot is potions) 8:15 shulkk tribe: end energy absorbed by the skulk (endgame trading after the rust tribe) 8:32 deep void skulk tribe: “blood of a void-god”
They should add another mob to the deep dark, maybe the stalker could be another enemy, not a version of the warden or a boss but like a regular monster that Is common. I like the long armed model for the stalker mob. 15:17 imagine these things stalking you through the caves.
They should add them! The deep dark is a biome, and the deep dark city is a structure, meaning the rest of the deep dark caves dont have the warden (idk, maybe the deep dark isnt like that, yeah it isnt like that) or, the stalker would stalk you when near a deep dark structure, like about 100 blocks from the edge of a deep dark city,
It would probably be pretty good if they did too. They'd start out making children's games and then just take what they learned from that to make horror stuff, kind of like Scott Cawthon.
i would love to see like variants of the warden in each dimension, like we got the warden in the overworld, The Hollowed in the nether and the stalker in the end
14:39 i feel like this ones gonna be overlooked and generally less liked but i really really like the bottom right one with almost the mossy growth and the crystal in the centre. i think its a really cool concept that i'd potentially want to make a retexture of the current warden for
I feel if they combined the Warden and the Stalker together, that'd be the absolute best one. What I mean is a Stalker with elements of the Warden such as the colour pallet and the sensors on it's head.
