I'm never going to write a script, direct a movie, or even make a short video. Yet I find your series on movie making completely fascinating. They open a world that I never knew existed. Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble.

Your sensitive ending, indeed, heart-rendering, leads me to believe that you have encountered too many wide-eyed unprepared-hopefuls.

Well-researched and Very systematically presented ,aiming for error-free information,facts only and aiming for clarity. Anyone who wrotes screenplays knows the purpose is to tell a story.

Love your vids. Just want to add that Celtx is not actually free. It's $9.99/mth. subscription and it's internet (cloud) base program. But the scale of the things that it does, it's more than worth it. You can however sign up for a free 15 day trial, but I don't know anyone that can write a script in that amount of time...lol.
@FilmmakerIQ

Not being petty or anything but in The Casablanca scene,some things were left out like her standing in the doorway. So basically scripts don’t have to be followed to the T in a “Major Production”? I’m because we definitely don’t follow them to the T in amateur films.
@FilmmakerIQ
@FilmmakerIQ 4 года назад
Yes that's right - major productions don't always follow the script to the "T"

@matj12

Why does the script need to be typeset in a given monospace font? I think a proportional font would be easier to read.
@FilmmakerIQ
@FilmmakerIQ 5 лет назад
Tradition and monospace givens predictable page length. 1 page = 1 minute screen time. And actually monospace is perfectly easy to scan in the way the margins are set up.

He mentions 3 of them. Final Draft, Movie Magic, and Celtx. There is also WriterDuet. I've used the last two. Once I can afford to, I will get the industry standard, which is Final Draft.

The origins of film are almost like modern day RU-vid. 40 second clip? Check. No real script or story? Check. Not so catchy title? Check. My how we've come full circle.
