As a guy who've first had three oscars (in a 60g until they outgrew it) and later a single oscar, I have to commend you on the beautiful footage of them! You really managed to showcase how beautiful they look, and that's rarely the case with oscars on youtube.

It was my dad who first got me an Oscar back in 1994, I had no idea how to take care of them, but they’ve been my favorite fish of all of them.

Basically the same for me. My dad had 2 oscars and when I was little I would spend all day going around outside finding ants and crickets to feed them. That's what started my whole aquarium craze. Ever since then every tank big enough has had at least one O in it.

I have a couple of oscars living with my 4 pair of angels and they are very friendly with them, previously i thought Oscar were pretty bad fish (in terms of loving with other species) but then I saw your videos and you literally changed my whole perspective regarding oscars YOU ARE THE BEST RU-vidR/FISH KEEPER IN THE HOBBY AND YOU MOTIVATE OTHERS TO BE THE SAME AND I LOVE THAT Thanks for all the efforts ❤️❤️

I love the format of these videos. Never had and not thinking of having big fish tanks any time soon, but after following you for a long while now, if I had to pick any type of "big fish" I'd definitely go for a "pack" of Oscars, they are just amazing.

Your right, I’ve had my 2 red tigers together since they were only small, it’s so cool how they swim in unison all the time, I have my pair in a 180 with an albino sail fin Pleco

I was about 9 years old (I’m 56 now) when I first saw an Oscar. A family friend had a big tank with 2-3 Oscars in it. After seeing that I was hooked on fish and aquariums. I have never had Oscars but they are one of my favorite fish.

i just taught my oscar to hand feed. had him for 4 years now and he’s growing quite nicely since i put him into a bigger tank. This fish is my lively hood and has helped me through very tough times.

Due to medical and physical issues i have to stop with the hobby but i am happy i can still enjoy it through these ways, maybe in the future i can pick it up again, but thanks for making these videos with so much varriation

Oscars are my all time favorite fresh water fish i had 5 at one time 3 tigers and 2 albinos tigers and they liked to be petted on the sides i am trying to get back in the hobby because of your videos you have made my interest peek up again so i told my wife i want your DIY book and im going to build a massive tank just for oscars and one for her for whatever she wants to keep

Man, you got me thinking of my Oscars that passed away years ago. A breeding pair, but we never got a successful clutch of eggs. Of all the fish I've had, Oscars seemed to be the most intelligent. Always excited when I'd walk by the aquarium and helped each other hunt down crawfish I'd give them for an occasional snack.

Your Oscar aquarium is exactly how I want mine to look. I love the black background, river gravel and how you have the lights above the water to create the deep, dark light ripples. You have an absolutely beautiful aquarium with crystal clear water. 👍👍

I like the mellow lighting for your oscars. They don't mind, and the tank isn't some algae festival. I am doing a similar thing now, with my freshwater. Less lighting than the typical t-8 bulbs they sell you, led's seem to produce some less blooms.

Walmart gave me the most bulletproof pleco I've ever owned. One of my very first and favorite fish when I started and had basically no idea what I was doing at the time. Almost 20 years later I still have no idea what kind of pleco that was but it survived everything up until a big power outage during the winter in New York.

I just got my first lemon Oscar. I'm not sure if it is male or female 🤔 it's a tiny baby, I have never bought on this small! I have it in a 75 gallon for now it is so friendly, but isn't eating well... I've tried blood worms, brine shrimp, and pellets of all small sizes, even a flake food. It isn't eating the way I expected it to eat. It's been about 2 weeks since bringing it home. Very very active Oscar! I'm calling it a her 😆 🤣 😂 and I love your Oscar shoal they are beautiful 👍

Try some worms.. with new fish I always feed them worms for a lil then move on to pellets

@@yunge9482 thank you! The blood worm is the only thing she's eating a little bit. But tonight I just fed some beef heart ❤ and she ate it up... im so happy I could cry 😢 she was so skinny from pet store... she ate so good tonight I think things are turning around 😃 😊 👍

It's funny to see this aquarium and the Oscar's behaviour, I always read about "oh Oscars are territorial, you CAN'T have more than one together", and again Joey proved them wrong. One of my favourite aquariums from the gallery!

Broi mix shrimp and small muscles it's really good I have 12 Oscar's all of them r above or close to 12 inch in just 9 months I don't feed them pellets I feed them dry shrimps muscles and frozen fish and insects .. with muscles and small fish they r getting plant matters from there digestive track... it's kinda awesome to see them

The idea of the King wandering around Walmart hoping to meet a fellow fish friend hits home a little too much. I was from a small town originally and all we had was a Walmart. Driving to the big city was 3-4 hours away and wasn’t going to happen so I did what you did and used Walmart and found a small group of like wise keepers. I also have come along way from those Walmart times.

I had 2 oscars that were together since they were baby’s and when they got around 5-6 inches the female started chasing the male around the tank after the pleco decided to eat the slime coat off his side and got weak so we separated them so just cause they are together and raised together doesn’t mean they will grow to stay and tolerate each other but is rather possible…1 Oscar or 4+ Oscar’s 1 male to 2-3 females is best option

Thanks Joey. I bought an Oscar a few weeks ago. I have him in a 180 with my geo’s that are about 8”. They already know he is gonna be the alpha they let him do what ever he wants and he is only 2”. I will be buying 2 more. Lol

Love it. Looks amazing. I used to have big CA cichlids like midas and jaguars but there were always the fights until I just kept the midas solo. When I am getting back into big cichlids I am going to try an oscar tank this time.

It’s kinda nice seeing that someone who has good set ups, maintains tanks well, and feeds well and still some Oscars just refuse to have color. One of my big boys is magnificent while the other is as pretty as his name suggests; the grouch

Ughh, idk how I can about this video but it brought back memories I completely forgot about till now. When I was like 8 I got a baby Oscar and red bellied piranha that I kept together for like 5 years until we had a horrible storm here in Pennsylvania and the power went out for about 2 weeks bc of major flooding and my fish sadly passed away. I've been looking into reptiles like snakes and lizards but also fish here recently bc I've had many pets like those growing up but not in the last 8 years so I'd like one now. I remember my mother had a separate goldfish tank with 2 or 3 big goldfish in it and I remember it actually was leaking pretty good for some unknown reason so she put the goldfish in with the Oscar and piranha while shenwent to get a new tank and when we came back the Oscar ate all the goldfish lol. Back then though we had no idea it could be a predator like that. I thought it would of been the piranha that ate them but it ate mostly fruits and nuts and fish food. It wasn't a carnivore piranha.
