Kurt, your videos are awesome but get some much needed rest. You have been doing these videos now for a long while. Take all the time you need. You have a great following that will watch your posts as soon as you are ready.
At 25:00 when the guy gave you some gas from his car so you can make it to the next gas station or the lady with the breakfast by the beach. She made something off the menu just for Kurt. That's the true Ecuadorian generosity. I feel like people on this thread kept focusing on a single lady at the beginning of the video being a little cold shoulder. Focus on the positive. Ecuador is a beautiful country with wonderful people. Unfortunely, just like any part of the world there will always be some people who are not as welcoming or heart-warming due to their circumstances which no one here knows. Thanks Kurt for showing the other side of various countries. Most people always show the "pretty side" tourist places.
It takes a special kind of person to be able to visit so many places with different cultures, be accepted, and not murdered or robbed. He is very adventurous and willing to try just about anything. Cool guy.
I just love the evolution of his Spanish. I honestly thought he came fluent but watching older videos, you see how much more confident he is with his command of the language now. Love it.
Hence why I want to travel to South America to improve my Spanish vastly . I’m learning at the moment with sources such as RU-vid, language apps . Nothing is better than in person communication to learn a language
There's nothing more discouraging than being in a place that isn't welcoming, especially when you try and be as polite/friendly as possible. Doesn't happen often but it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. Good on you for keeping spirits up. Safe travels.
@@chrissy9466 I'm not black but I can see with my own eyes how black people are treated in America. You'd have to be ignorant not to see it. Kurt complained about how he was treated in that town for a few minutes, and "realtalk" just simply said, "imagine what it's like to be black in america" and you all went off because you don't have the capacity to put yourselves in the black person's shoes for a second. Fuckin' bizarre bunch.
The guy who had the truck and gave you gas is a wholesome dude. You offered two dollars or what ever their currency is, he said, no, no, one is fine. What a stand up guy. :)
What's up my brother. Me and my wife watch all your videos. Big fan. Let me know when you ready to go to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. I live in Brooklyn ny parents are from Puerto Rico. Keep up the videos. 👌👍
That beach may not have looked like much but honestly the way the ocean just expands across the horizon with nothing else in the distance but the cliffs on one side and the rocks on the other...just made it seem like you were at the edge of the world
6:00 I laughed when he got to the beach and the first person to approach him was like “Desayuno??” After pretty much getting rejected in every way to have a good breakfast.
I was in the US Air Force from 2002-2008. I was deployed to Manta for about 3 months in 2004. Most of the people there were great, very friendly. But it broke my heart when we'd go downtown and we would see hordes of kids, think under 10 years old, begging us for money on the streets. Then we found out that the parents would basically sell their kids to a "pimp" that would force them to walk the streets and then give whatever money they made to the "pimp". I laughed when you called Manta the stinkiest town you've ever been to. We were stationed at the airport and some locals we were friends with told us that communities didn't have running water. So the village would dig a large trench in the middle of town and that's where they would dump their "waste". It only rained twice while I was there, and when the first one came in, it caused all of the crap and piss to become rehydrated. The smell that came over the base was similar to the inside of a sewer. And there was no escaping it. God it sucked.
I clicked so fast anytime Kurt uploads a video. The man has se serious skills. I love his work and his humbleness whenever he films. Dios te bendiga mi hermano! Eres genial!
I love his humble attitude and confidence to venture where the travel guides don’t show you or want you to see!!! You are a great guy Kurt, Thankyou for uploading and showing us the world!
Please get some rest and restore. You looked so drained at the end, it was kinda heartbreaking to see the look in your eyes. Hope you're back to full strength soon. UPDATE - I miss you 🥺😂
I think it’s amazing to actually see the difference in friendly and unfriendly cultures… up until this point everybody has been friendly for the most part!
I think Every country has friendly and unfriendly people, im not surprised especially if the people are uneducated or clueless as to why a white man is in their tiny town with a camera in their face lol
That was mainly because that town at the beggining is almost the less tourist place around here, there is nothing going on there like a ghost town, so they live in a sort of bubble.
The amigo that gave him some gas was really friendly. I think the people there are a little bit more reserved in general. Hopefully, Kurt never visits Finland. 😆
Being someone that was born and lived in ecuador for my entire life, I can tell you there are places where people can steal your socks without taking your shoes off
Glad you found some gas, most of us Ecuadorians are welcoming people. You have explored the Coast but there’s also la Sierra, Amazonía and Galapagos. Is very rare to find bread for breakfast in the coast, most of it is plantain and seafood. If you have the chance, go to Baños, Quito, Cuenca, Otavalo. Wish you all the best and stay safe. Great job and content!
In coffee shop you can eat bread in breakfast, his name is “desayuno americano”, include bread, coffee, juice and eggs. But in small cities is difficult find it.
@@medsb2037 Ecuadorian guy here, I'm totally sure that some people in my country are bad people, but those at the beginning were not. That people live im poor towns, they don't often see English-talkers foreigns. They just ignored our guy because they were confused. Believe me. If you want to see bad people you are going to know it as soon as you see
I'm Ecuadorian and I lament the situations with the people there. To be honest, in Ecuador you can find different kinds of people however, most people in my country are kind and hospitality. In name of all Ecuador, we are really sorry about this situation.
I say this before the 1M subscribers and even more: please keep doing these kind of raw vlogs, don't put drone shots or anything, we're here for the authenticity of this channel ♥️
Kurt, i'm in a heavy depression for years. And trying to handle my Anxiety and panic dissorders. Not been very happy for a while and wanting to get out of my country so bad to try and start over. But when i see your video's and your karakter, it makes me very happy to see. Please keep doing what you do. Your karakter and personality are a great addition to this world brother.
The abuelita on the beach cooking a short order meal for you was very kind. There's always nice people wherever you go, sometimes they are just harder to find. And seconds later a nice guy stops with a little gas to save the day!
That guy in the truck was a lifesaver at 24:23 , wish I could shake that mans hand. After watching what you went through throughout the first town that little bit of hospitality really brought it back! & I am inspired by your travels Kurt, 1.5 months away from an entire year abroad is one hell of an accomplishment if you ask me. Awesome video
@@kaizersose7437 Maybe you should watch all of Kurt's videos before you make dumb comments. He gives all of his money to those less fortunate and puts himself out there in dangerous situations in every video. Then couch surfers like you that have never been in that situation claim people like him are discriminating.
@@kaizersose7437 Another generalizer and assumer who probably whines when others generalize and assume. I suggest you watch Thomas Sowells' presentation on slavery. Where did the word slave come from? What percent of slaves were of a different race than the slave owner?
Yeah he was! That looked like a Ford Courier except with an electric fuel pump. It’s interesting that it kept pumping fuel with just the key on. Not good if you get in a crash. I wonder he retrofitted it? That guy had a heart of gold. It didn’t look like he wanted anything for the gas initially. So cool 😎
These videos need to be collated and shown on National Geographic. Having travelled to many countries, 99.9% of people are friendly and hard working, yet the media portray these countries in a bad light. Well done Kurt for showing people that these countries have amazing, friendly, hard working people.

Kurt is a beast, runs out of gas in the middle of nowhere and fills a water bottle from a fuel line to the carburetor. I would go anywhere with this guy.
As soon as this man puts up a new video, it has to be watched within 30 mins absolute brilliant guy and all his videos are fantastic. Love from 🏴 Kurt
When the people in one of those cars gets home: "No really, it was a white guy standing on the side of the road eating Fruit Loops from the box, I swear!"

We have a family member who was born and raised in Ecuador. We've only been there once so far but it is a fascinating country that is full of kind people and a tremendous variety of landscapes and climates. I hope to be able to visit there again and see more of the middle and southern portions of the Country as our loved one is from the Quito area. Thanks for sharing your visit there with us, Kurt!
Be careful with driving and filming at the same time. I know you have confidence in your skills but accidents happen faster than you might think and they can be terrible. Stay safe
I love how kurt, takes risks, and sometimes risking, his own safety too bring his fan's great exciting videos 👍,hats off to you Kurt, what a ledgened you are,😊👍👍👍
I say within 1yr he will be robbed, beaten, lost limb, eye, etc.. or death. The white devil is not welcome in certain areas. He will learn the hard way.
Kurt, just to let you know, that "bubblegum soda" flavor is called "champagne cola" here in the USA, and there's about 5 brands of it here, including Inca, and Good-o (Dominican, I think). You'll find at least 1 brand in any city with a big south American or Caribbean Latin population. I first had it in NYC (Good-o) way back in the 70s. I've seen Inca all over florida, even in the "gringo" supermarkets in South Florida
Do you mean Inca Kola? My peruvian girlfriend always used to drink that, I tried it once here in Germany since its very rare to find but it was surprisingly good.
@johannese3570 that's the stuff, but I'd never call that flavor "good", lol. Stuff is awful to my admittedly unsophisticated palate. But, I didn't grow up drinking it either.
@@ludditeneaderthal I remember drinking it on a hot day in summer and the drink was ice cold fresh out of the freezer and it was very refreshing. But it's also very sweet so I understand that some people who dont like sweet drinks wouldnt like it.
Kurt, I can't get enough of your videos. You inspire me to do more travel in South America (will be in Peru soon). Thanks for your hard work and keeping us entertained!
Always go for the coconut water, it's healthier and safer than any other drink you may not be familiar with. Take care of your gut while you are trying so many different foods and drinks during your travelings. Blessings!
Ecuadorians are very humble and generous people, just a bit shy. They don’t get to see many whites and it has been my experience that they go out of their way to please you. I can recall many instances of selflessness and generosity, and when offering a propina to them a common reply from them is “Que Dios te lo devuelva..” or, “May God return it to you…..”.
I found some of that attitude in parts of Chile ..and My mum and I were used to friendly service from Australia..so she refused to eat anywhere where they gave you attitude she would give attitude back lol...back in spanish...that guy with the pamphlet with the breakfast ...was the best service ever....and he was very polite to you ...nice guy...I would certainly go there and spend my money to them...nice place too ...well done Kurt you picked the better place for breakfast ..best thing a coffee...I cannot start without a coffee...
As an Australian, i start each morning with a equadorian coffee from my nespresso machine. I find it amusing that in equador, our man is served instant coffee 😜😭

Kurt, whether the beach is crowded or not, you can still make a vlog alone. You know it's difficult to capture the surroundings of an empty beach without interaction with people and filming them. You're a competent guy.
Kurt, love the videos, just one thing I'd love to see, when you move between towns do a little map on the side (easy to do with any video editing software) showing your progress through the country, or pay £5 on fiverr to some Indian tech wiz to add it
Kurt, your presence in the moment and the the way you deliver it so genuinly is a craft only a few can master. What amazing memories you are sharing with us. Thank you
