I felt that The Other Side of the Door is a let down. What's sad about this film is that, it had a lot of potential, but all it did was sink down. When I saw the trailer, I didn't know that I was moving into uncharted territory. But sadly, while watching the film, I had to stifle a lot of laughs and a few yawns as well. The horror scenes are illogical and way too cliched. It almost relied entirely on these ineffective, predictable and horribly executed jumpscares. The only bright thing about this film is that the story seems innovative, although I had to stifle a laugh on that as well. Why I enjoyed the film at least for five minutes is because I really am a fan of these demonic entities and the world of the dead. They really should've improved the film a lot. A let down.
Why did that Indian lady even tell her about the Door ? 1000's of people die everyday, why was it necessary to tell this grieving mother where the gate to the fucking afterlife is . Then she is surprised when the lady goes alone and opens the door?
I knew the India lady was dead the moment she did that. The black person always dies first, well...haha, whoever is closest to black- they are bodied asap. LOL
Not true. For example, the homeless guy in The Purge was black, and he, actually, survived. But, then again, he was a combat veteran. He was wearing dog tags. I think that cancels out being a black man in a horror movie.
but the indian women specifically told her not to open the door and she did. so whatever came her way she deserved it. you do not disturb the dead no matter how much you want to see them.
You can't blame her it was her son what would you do if it was your child who you loved very much just died? You want to finish talking to them too and not leave yet you would probably do the same thing.
Tamara235 Hmm lets see, saying my final words to my son that he can clearly HEAR through a closed door... Or opening a door knowing something demonic to happen, or knowing something terrible or even catastrophic WILL happen... Its not hard, id keep that shit closed no problem... If it were my dead wife/husband or soulmate without my kids and i really wanted to stay with him/her... id just follow them into the spirit world myself... But nnoOOOOoooo... lets just open this possible door to hell that the world can suffer for my ass..
Why would you open the door...!?? Just hold it.... Hold the door........ Hold.......The door...... Holdthedoor.... Holddoor.... Holdoor.... Hodor.......... :'(
To temp the living into screwing themselves over. Sort of like "why was there a tree of forbidden fruit with such low hanging delicious looking fruit in the garden of Eden that would cause devastating effects to the world if someone ate from it?"
G Dash do you trust Jesus? Did you read the Bible? If you do, is just the same thing with the apple tree. If the apple tree can cause sin to us human then why don't you blame god not to create the tree?
I'm Maria, and this is my afterlife gate. I work here with my housekeeper and my son, "Oliver." Everything in here has a story and a price. One thing I've learned after 21 years - you never know what souls are gonna come through that door.
+wanheda damn daniel is the most lame video i have ever seen. the popularity it gained just shows how stupid people r now, especially people of america
Nomaan Nasir trust me dude I couldn't agree with you more. I know I sound contradictory but I just used it as a comment to see people's reaction. I actually don't get the video myself.
When someone loses another close to them, emotions can run wild and end up blocking reason and logic. Depression, angry, bitterness, all set in and can result in serious changes to perceptions and emotions This is the most true with it comes to mothers who have lost their children. They are going through the most hardest of events and are very strong to endure them. That being said however, they are also the most vulnerable and will seldom listen to warnings especially if their children has a chance of being returned to them. So why the fkying FK would anyone let such an emotionally unstable woman go so close to such a shifty, and dangerous place.
Not bad, really. It had a couple of good scares, but the cliches were there - it was shot at night, it takes place in the dark, etc. We need a horror movie where the scares take place more during the day. Now, wouldn't that be something. Moral lesson here is, don't disregard the advice of the locals :).
This movie is about a mother lost a child, and miss her son everyday day and night, this is actually a touching movie not a horror movie, sometime let it go not a bad idea, because there are only choice and move forward, the boy came back because he love his mommy too, no 1 want to be alone and leave their family. i love this movie 10/10
Must admit Sarah got a hang of opening doors!. At first she opens the door for prisoners to get away (in prison break)... And now she opens doors for the dead..
whenever they tell u not to do something they do it anyways so when she tells her not to open the door she does it anyway cuz it wont be a movie if she doesnt open it
Sarah Wayne Callies looks like Kate Bosworth and the Piano tune in the trailer was also featured in Superman Returns. Plus that car sinking scene. Brought back memories of SR.
funfact : the man with dreadlocks and covered with white ash is called an aghori ..and they live where bodies are often cremated . after the flames of the pyre die out , all the relatives leave the cremation site these people search the remain of the pyre , for remains for burnt flesh and then they eat it .
horror movie first scene.....wise man/woman: don't do that okay........scene two.....dumbass: I just did that .......scene three..... everybody: great now somebody fix it...... and it goes on and on
If one were to judge this movie in general terms, I can understand why it was panned by most critics. However, judging it against the horror film genre, I thought it wasn't bad. The acting wasn't terrible, the story was suspenseful, and it made an effort to play to psychological terror rather than just relying on lurching from one gore porn scene to another like so many horror films do. Certainly some parts of the film were predictable and relied on horror film cliches (I knew the dog was going to die from the outset of the film, and of course I knew she'd open the door) but there was still enough to keep me interested to want to watch it to the end, which is more than I can say for the typical shitty (and badly acted) teens go on a road trip, get lost in the woods, and find themselves terrorized by evil forces until all but one of them is killed kinds of horror movies.
IKR I mean she gets to talk to him and he answers her back. Even if opening the door might let him come back he is dead, so only his spirit will be there. Frickin listen woman come on!
She was not allowed to open the temple door to see her late son. She was sternly warned of this, but it was hard to resist the temptation. By opening the door, the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead was disrupted. This is what this great horror from 2016 is about.
I got 3 kids myself and I have to tell you...if an old witch/lady told me not to open a fucking door to the other side of death, I wouldn't open the fucking door. It's like people in horror movies have never seen, read, or heard of a horror story in their lives.
