The Ohtsutsuki were aliens, immortal beings with infinite chakra, the mingling of the blood of the celestial being Kaguya with Tenji, pro-created humans able to mold chakra which eventually resulted to the creation of shinobi. Those from the lineage of Indra inherited his visual prowess which was the Sharingan, while the descendants of Ashura inherited his strong life force and energy. And of Hamura somehow his visual prowess was passed on to the Hyuga which became the Byakugan. The secret techniques of other clans, were just derived from existing chakra natures and they condensed it to become entirely exotic techniques some have even the innate ability to combine two or even three chakra natures to create a new one, which was the foundation of kekkei genkai and touta. The narutoverse wasn’t entirely clear on how genjutsu was first conceptualized, while it was Kaguya who first used it with her infinite tsukoyomi, the history of this technique was quite distorted, the usual method is to use hand seals to cast an illusory technique, another is through a visual jutsu, mainly the Sharingan, it was probably shinobi with powerful minds and precise chakra control who were first able to use this jutsu.

I think there are more Otsutsuki aliens somewhere out there in the universe. Their origins aren’t quite explained with them only being said to go to different planets gathering energy from the planet for a Shinju Tree to gather the chakra fruit from it. So with their mission understood what about their origins, there must be a home planet they all come from where the environment is perhaps a forest of tree dead shinju trees. Perhaps there was a war and a lot of their race died, leaving only a few survivors left. The survivors mission would be to become more powerful by going to different planets planting the shinju tree, then eating the fruit it produces. Kaguya betrayed her race when she fell in love with a human and had children on the planet earth.

I'm not sure what kind of emotional backstory you guys are expecting for the Otsutsuki, as being evil is practically in their nature and they lack any sort of emotional reason for turning evil. They just want power and immortality. No human or redeeming qualities. They are clearly different from Nagato, Obito, Madara, Zabuza, Gaara etc

O otsuki clan was first mentioned in the regular naruto series when they fought the bones guy.. Just an FYI.

Shakaku's was not taken by the Otsutsuki just the little bit of chakra that Garra had left in him same with the 8 tails him and Killer b are still kicking.
