Is no one gonna talk about the hug at the end? How Pony flew into Darrel’s arms, and soda joined the hug. Those three are literally the Curtis brothers, you cannot change my mind 😂
Gosh I’m DYING to see this show! I’ve obsessively watched every scrap of footage we can get and am pretty sure I’m responsible for at least half these views. The Curtis brothers are such beloved characters and from what I’ve seen Brent, Jason, and Brody really do them justice. Brent really nails this song, I’m so impressed by him (and love that he is a JMU alum!!) He was in his senior year during my twin’s freshman year but pretty sure I’ve seen him in a couple shows during his time there!
saw it a month ago and can confirm they are PHENOMENAL I've been a fan of Jasons for a while so I knew he would be but I was so incredibly blown away by Brent, he is such a gem and adds so much life and personality to Darry. Hope you're able to see it!! Wish I could see it over and over ◡̈
I read this book when I was 12. I remembered there was something special about it. The performance of this song brings that whole story to a vivid new life to me. These gents, they're not just singing, they're not just acting. They're channeling philadelphia. Bravo and congrats to them on the wins. If this is any measure of the whole production then it was well deserved.
This song snuck up on me when I saw the musical, and these three performances got this jaded theatregoer to BAWL. Beautiful song, passionately delivered.
They're not lip synching. Audio is off. The mics are on their foreheads. They perform live eight shows a week. That's why they're "jacked." Also a huge part of the characters.
they are not jacked because of performing...they are jacked because they specifically train to look that way (and probably a bit of genetics etc.)...and they got cast because they fit the look they wanted
I love this song so much!! It really gives a good perspective for darry that I feel like the movies didn’t show as much, he is my favorite character 💕 I still love Patrick swayze though
I'm kind of glad that I read The Outsiders when I was older because I can see how I was a lot like Ponyboy in middle/high school and since I'm in my twenties I understand Darry's perspective and how he probably doesn't feel like an adult yet and still has to juggle all of this
Seeing this live had me sobbing because I have felt like giving up when things got too hard like Darry wanted too, I have run from my problems that had harsh consequences like Ponyboy, and I have comforted people no matter the situation and reassured them that I need them even when they wanted to give up just like Sodapop. I am so glad that this was made into a musical for the next generation to relate to and enjoy. This cast is PHENOMENAL! I am so glad I could see this show and have these songs as a comfort blanket. Makes my little theatre kid heart happy 🥺❤
I love the people singing along at the beginning! I'm sad that I missed this at La Jolla and this clip definitely makes the case to me to prioritize seeing this the next time I am in NYC!
Brent, Jason and Brody's harmony at 3:06 on "The time is now or never" almost brought me to tears and gave severe chills. Btw Brent's acting in this is so believable it break my heart no matter how many times I watch it. Does anyone else notice at 2:57 that Jason kinda does a neck roll
Glad you posted this! Im in the UK and we no longer get NBC news channel on virgin media cable ..i used to watch Today every morning ( even though it was allways a day behind) ....i miss watching it ....Virgin have got rid of all the american news channels over the yrs used to get nbc , cnn ect now all we get is cnbc and bloomberg that are more stock market and buissness channels ..they have also just dumped talk tv which was a british news channel too! along with other channels such as TCM ect , they have been replaced with channels (that you dont know whats gonna be on program wise) that stream from the Pluto channel ect!
@@leahjennings9181 lmaoo I would be too 🤣 I’m so glad you got to experience the show and stage door!! I want to see it so badly but definitely not in the budget so am obsessively watching every piece of footage/ performance I can get my hands on lol. The whole cast is so talented and I love that they brought in mostly Broadway newbies- they are all going to be big stars!
Their little brother, Pony, is in legal trouble and on the run. Darrel has been supporting the family since their parents died, the pressure is getting to him, and Soda is encouraging him to keep hope.
Brent (plays darry on the chair) is in the comments and said that they were singing to an instrumental track, also you can see the physical exertion when Jason (soda) is singing. Its live television so the audio isn't synced up all the way but YES they are singing!!
oh so actually brody, sky, and joshua are incredibly talented as well. No need to bring that kind of negativity I'm sure they're thrilled for their friends! ◡̈
They actually are singing live, they video is just slightly out of sync with the audio. You can see their microphones close to the hairline on their foreheads.
Anyone who’s struggled mentally or simply just had a hard time with life can easily relate to this song. I’m so glad it shows the hardships of life but also provides hope and that there’s something to stick around for. 🩵 If you’re reading this, you matter. I love you.
