In this video, I will be discussing the over-sexualization of teens and children on TikTok. I have noticed that a lot of girls today have been looking older and older at younger ages and I think there needs to be a discussion. Let me know your opinions on my points in the comments down below!!!!

I am currently 18 and i still consider myself a child. I don’t have a sense of style,my make up skills are below average and I am definitely not good at being elegant. I embrace it and I enjoy it as well ! I am growing and becoming better at being a woman everyday,and that is what matters ! I haven’t been able to change to look more ‘mature’ because I always felt uncomfortable to do that but now i am grateful because now that i never felt comfortable to do that before. This year i just started to change a little as in i started to walk straighter and dress a bit out of my comfort zone but not too much that i get anxiety. It’s a slow process for me and i feel like slow is what helps you become more comfortable and confident in yourself ! Baby steps is what helped me be more content with myself and i wish that everybody will get there in time. Take your time and enjoy your life to the max ! 🤍

I hate it when people imply that you are the one sexulising girls and teens by pointing out that what they're doing is sexualised. The fact people think it's normal for a teenager to wear the equivalent of a belt as a top and a micro mini skirt at 12-17, that's scary and shows just how normalised this has become
@sun4500
@sun4500 Год назад
I think there's a fine line between teenagers experimenting with what they like and sexualizing. Like makeup is fine but trying to imitate adults is not. Dressing up is fine but again imitating adults it's not. And when you try to tell teens what to do it won't work. It's not necessarily how they dress but how they act nowadays that's scary.

You and I are the same age. I’m sure you remember when social media took a huge leap. I wasn’t allowed on social media, and I wasn’t allowed to watch MTV so I wasn’t exposed to as much adult content as my peers. My classmates would all dress like the Kardashians or the Jersey Shore cast. They’d party over the weekend and a lot of them got caught smoking or drinking either outside of school or behind school. My 3 friends and I all dressed pretty casually and were decked out in anime merch. We were bullied a lot but by the 8th grade, we became used to it because our peers couldn’t come up with any new insults. Now at 24, I see the same classmates who would bully us for liking Disney and Nickelodeon start watching those shows and sober up. They really buried that part of their childhood so it’s nice to see them explore all of that without judgement

this is so real. I’m not even an older gen z, i’m 17 (2005) and even i had an awkward tween phase filled with justice, claire’s and musically. I’m a senior rn and i recently became friends with a freshman, kinda took her under my wing and she had no awkward tween phase. she showed me pictures of herself when she was 11 and 12 and she looked grown. i was actually shocked and proceeded to show her my tween self and she kept saying things like “no way” or “you actually looked like that?” LIKE YES I WAS A CHILD. i feel bad that these younger girls are feeling pressured to grow up so fast and not be able to act their age because they’ll seem childish or something.

i’m 14 and i had an awkward phase and i have to keep reminding myself that i was a child and that it was ok for me at that age if someone’s gonna judge a child for acting like a child that’s just wrong they’re crucial years. for me i was in an abusive situation so it caused me to grow up mentally very quick but physically not as fast and that was really hard for me accepting that, but now i’m catching up with that and i only look on my younger self with sympathy because i was a child in need of help. i’m still a child and i’m confident with the way i look. i don’t put on too much makeup just like mascara blush and concealer and i don’t wear revealing clothes and i’m happy with myself. there’s no need to look like an adult at such a young age and i’m glad i don’t.

@Jon S i don’t think it’s victim blaming. it’s not their fault, it’s the parents fault. the girls who don’t act too grown for their age are the ones that are seen as weird and “outcasts”. so i don’t really blame them for wanting to look a certain way. i think the bigger issue lies with these social media platforms that profit off of young girls dancing in bikinis. like she said, tik tok will delete videos on human rights but turn a blind eye when it comes to underage girls. i don’t think the preteen era would’ve ended if it weren’t for social media. it’s sad because kids should be kids and they’re feeling this constant pressure to look a certain way. it’s their parents job to educate and protect them from acting like that. they’ll thank their parents when they’re older.

@@lovelycloudyskies I agree, it also has a lot to do with growth, parents and peers. Some girls grow very tall at a younger age, and when you pair that with makeup, it makes them look so much more older. Some parents are more lenient with their children's dress sense, whilst others are more controlling. And some classmates and even friends the same age as you look a lot older and are considered the "cool" kids, so people try to fit in so they get integrated into that group. Some thing in real life that kinda relates to this, is what bag people take to school. I'm 14, and I take a backpack to school, yet I see 12 year olds take handbags to school. There is nothing wrong with handbags, except for the fact that mostly adult women use handbags, so it seems like they want to grow faster.

As a 18 year old girl, who was a "victim"of over-sexualization, seeking for male validation from when I was 13-14, I totally agree with you in this video. I felt really left out when I saw grown women online that had defined body with curves and tanned skin, even though I was just 14 😔 I secretly bought tight dresses, leggings, crop top,.. because my mom didn't let me to wear them. I would wear it and post it and social media, from that I got really satisfied because my photos went viral. I would go to clubs with my friends, drinking and getting drinks from male strangers, I did that because it felt so good when I got attention from others. But after that, at 17, I realized it emptied me, gutted me inside out. I felt so hopeless, I wanted to change and live with my true young age. And now, at 18, I slowly am taking baby steps to enjoy my youth, be innocent, learning lessons from other people. I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to change and to realize how bad it could be for teenagers to over-sexualize themselves, it's not cool when you dress revealing clothes and have high bodycounts. I've learned it in the hardest way, if you're reading this and you're a teenager, please take my advice and be true with your age. Don't rush and ruin yourself. ❤

Sorry to hear that, I was also in that boat too, I was pressured to be a woman at a young age and I hated my mom for doing that to me. I'm more of a boy's peer due to having 5 brothers and I was the rebellious and free-spirited child. Everything was so simple until one day, my mom became abusive out of nowhere and it scares me a lot. She wasn't there in my emotional times back then but the people who were in my life were my male friends who cares for someone like a loner wolf like me. They were the people party in my life, my childhood days were nothing but melancholy, it was just a boring, depressing, and miserable life. When they came into my life, I was kinda surprised, nobody ever treated me with respect and compassion, those two friends let me love myself, and I regret moving to a new primary school, I was so sad and depressed, I lock myself in my room for years to cope it up. I had no hope for my present life and I was completely desperate to grow up and find people like them. In the end, there was no luck and I went back to my nihilistic lifestyle I went through verbal, emotional, and narcissistic abuse from my mother, I wish nothing for her except death. She deserves the consequences, I do care if she redeems herself but she didn't so I'm not giving her the compassion my male friends did to me Thanks to her, I became a cruel, terrifying sadistic person, someone with demonic possession (I have bipolar disorder), and adhd. She dares to call me hyperactive and does not look the outside of the box she conflicted me with. People also saw how distant I am and more like a delinquent person, I can't even take their gratitude or gifts for not saying "thank you". With just a simple word, I struggle to say it out loud My "friends" I currently have is also toxic, I couldn't stand being in that group and being treated like a nobody It was years of pain and suffering, I understand what you mean, about no longer having the time to be a child or becoming a teen. I'm 17 years old now, I thought about quitting school since I have hypothyroidism (my symptoms are getting worst) and I hate to worsen them. They will have to grow up knowing anyone could google their name or former user names and find this stuff. The internet is a terrifying place and these kids don't realize that.

As a teen, I think a large part of why we're skipping the pre-teen phase because we're bullied out of it. We don't have time to be cringe, wear bad makeup, have my little pony clothes, have a first kiss, learn to grow up normally. We are literally bullied out of that phase so quickly, so we skip all that stuff and go straight to trying to look adult and seems mature to avoid looking cringe.

I'm 18 now and it's genuinely sad to see young girls dress this way. Whenever I saw kids dress like this when I was younger, I didn't like it at all because some were doing it for attention from guys or for other reasons. Either way, it was sad because I never felt the urge to dress like that and the closest I got to showing skin was wearing a crop top that showed very little. Childhood is precious and kids should live their childhood while it's still there because once it's gone, it's gone.

It honestly scares me about our next generation because anytime there's a family reunion, i see my little nieces and nephews stuck to their tablets or phones. THEY LITERALLY HAVE PHONES AT THE AGE OF 4. It disgusts me that my cousins could allow them to have such things. I didn't get mines till I was 11 and looking back, I was still really young and I had to teach myself the dangers of social media and safely managing my phone. It's just such a sad scene to see kids in bikinis and overall sexualising themselves while their parents turn a blind eye. We have to spread more awareness so thank you so much for dedicating a video about this topic

I'm a young teen and everyone sees me as "innocent" bc I don't act grown, wear heavy makeup, etc. It's sad that looking 18 at 13-16 is considered normal. This needs to stop. We have all the time in the world to do these things later. Our childhood will never come back. We shouldn't be judged for acting our age. Edit: Btw, I don’t care what other teens do (if you wanna wear makeup and revealing clothes, you do you, it’s just my thoughts on this topic). Mind you I was 12 and I was surrounded by all this BOLD makeup, how my body should look more developed, those belly dancing challenges, twerking, more revealing clothes & even underwear. Social media never made it better bc everywhere I looked that would be SHOVED down my throat. Even when I tried to be different it was immediately rejected by my peers. It was hard. Fitness training combined with a sports activity is another possibility. Doing that will reward you with better health, good discipline and real world, socialising skills. Perhaps consider doing community work, volunteering. Helping the aged, youth work, helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves physically/mentally. There is also the possibility of doing things to better your environment. The opportunities are endless. Your future is bright. But it's down to you to identify and seize those opportunities. Sexualization of children and teenage girls will always disgust me as I know as a society we know better. During my tween and teen years, I remember wearing thick turtlenecks, loose jeans and loose flowing dresses with modest necklines because that’s the values my parents instilled in me. I was 17 and 18 year old when I was groomed by a predatory pastor’s son who took advantage of my innocence. I thought it was just that I had a baby face. Then as I got older I realized I just didn’t express myself in an “adult” way. My fashion was always more out-there, never matching the current styles because it just wasn’t interesting for me. I never looked adult, I always looked and felt like a kid. Now I’m a legal adult, and I still feel like I’m growing up. All my friends still look older, people think I’m still in high school so often.

THIS! l’m 15 and act my age but my classmates always make me feel insecure by judging and asking me why I don’t wear crop tops, makeup, short skirts, etc. I have nothing against this things, wear them if you want but then don’t question my choice. Let me dress and act like a 15-year-old. I’ll have enough time to do this things when I’m older. At 15 looks aren’t everything. Getting good grades and focusing on school and your carrier is much more important.

I'm 18 (2004) and what a lot of young girls don't understand due to society (and peer) pressure is that they don't owe their childhood to anybody. It's okay to be a child and still retain a semblance of childhood as an adult. Nobody should be shamed for watching cartoons at whatever age or not dressing sexually (especially if they're children). Edit: And ofc, it's okay for girls to like makeup and dresses, we shouldn't shame people for their preferences! But there has to be a limit. One extreme is as bad as the other. So as a slightly older and wiser person (to those who are younger) I will tell y'all this: no matter what you choose to wear or do, do it for your sake and because you love doing it. Sure, you may feel ashamed, I know I did, but at least you love those things.

This I'm am 04 aswell. It's so bizarre to me, that these girls 'behaviour' are the expectation of mine. Just to please the male gaze. I'm just 18 and because of law that I'm legal that doesn't mean I'm supposed to out here acting like 28 just to be taken seriously. I remembered just the other day I went and bought a cat ear headphones something that I've always wanted since I was like 16. I remember purchasing it and this girl who is probably around the same age as me was looking at me funny. I didn't care because it's my money spending, I've bought and been so happy since.

Then some girls and woman that lived in my community saw me with them and asking me 'What are doing with that isn't that for kids?" I said, 'Well I rather have this than the actual child' because these young girls especially in my country are already mothers and they don't look a day over 20. It's so bizarre.

As a tomboy who never fit with guys or girls, this problem is a behavior born into girls. Since four years old I observed this in my pre-k class. 2004. I HAD to "leave" thier company because it was sooo boring. Standing around, gossiping, following around the most 'mature', weathly, popular girl, the games we did play together had too many rules and whining about having to put effort into playing more mindless games. Like playing freeze tag. 😑You know like "going crazy going stupid". When I played by myself, one girl named Esmeralda would play with me. She had to live a "double life" having fun with me on occasion, and ultimately returning with the rest. I would see that her face would fall, she would start to be self conscious of herself, and promptly leave me without another word. When we got different homerooms the next year, it made me sad that she might never play again.

the fact that this is becoming the norm is absurd. last week someone said to me "this is normal 15 year old behavior" (commented under a video of a 15 y/o twerking) and i honestly wanted to snap. im soo tired of people trying to defend the sexualization of teens in this generation. just because its a "new generation" it doesnt mean anyone should try to normalize growing up too fast & already trying to look & act like a grown woman at 13. whenever you call this stuff out theres always someone saying "stop putting them down" "youre just jealous" like no i just think these little girls should not feel pressured to look like a instagram model at 14 & instead they should enjoy their youth while they still can. im sick and tired of seeing 13-15 yr olds in tiny bodycon dresses, big lashes, heavy makeup, and other stuff bc i cant even tell if their 23 or 13 anymore 💀 you can tell they are clearly corrupted by social media trends and it took away their innocence & youth. nowadays its hard to embrace being a kid bc being a kid isn't cool anymore, i see more adults acting like kids and kids acting like adults which says a lot. im 16 years old and i dont want to be "sexy" or anything rn i want to be myself and stay a kid while i still can.

Even about to be 16 even seems scary like I’m considered a child cause I am. I think because society view 18 year olds as children BUT they should act older and a woman. And 18 is like a red flag because of society, 50 yea olds can go after them(I wish it was illegal but it’s just frowned upon), they can do all these things but it’s eighTEEN for a reason. Still children that just go onto another faze of schooling and faze of life(if you really wanna call it that). I feel like I’m scared to be 18 but at that point , even 19 should be considered a child compared to how many years of life there is.

Her friends are doing everything in this video, and it makes me angry and hurt that she feels pressure to follow them. I know she’s a child at heart, but recently she’s been hiding her toys away whenever her friends come over, and trying on my clothes that are for 16-year-olds and asking me to borrow them. It’s not what these girls really want to do, they just feel pressure to fit in and get approval, as you said, and this causes all the mental health issues. I’m also less of an attention seeker than her so, that could be our difference. I try whenever I can to encourage her to just be herself, because she is so so much more beautiful than she knows. Thanks for making this video, again, and have an awesome day everyone, and remember, pre-teens in particular, you are so beautiful just being yourself instead of who social media tells you to be

I heavily agree. I see it so much that I feel like I should be the ssme way too cause that's what's considered the "teen experience". Likr Why do I feel bad for not doing weed or drinking? Not having sex yet? Not dressing like I'm older than I actually am? Because that's what's considered to be for teens now, and I don't fit that :/

This was so interesting to watch. I’m 17 and I’ve been noticing that kids younger than me are acting older than me. I knew a 12 year old who had already dated, broken up, and had a make out session. It was very strange to me because when I was her age I had braces, I wore justice, I still played with Barbies, and my hair was a frizzy mess. It was so weird. I’m really worried about the younger half of gen Z because I’m 17 (just 4-5 years older than her) and I didn’t dress like that at her age. I’m just worried about her. I feel sad for these kids that they never get to experience pre teen awkwardness. My mom even commented about how kids don’t seem to have an awkward stage anymore. I’m actually scared to turn 18 because of all the predators out there.

I wonder if you had your first "look back", I had mine at 18 and later on at 20. 23 rn. It is the moment your brain is in adult mode and you reflect back on your past self. I can say you will feel cringe, shame, disgust, and overall its an eye opening experience. Your brain feels like it can see clearer, and your emotional, naive, angry, short sighted view on the world now is more long term and you know what you want. But that is what I experienced, who knows how it will be like for you. 🤷 Just wanted to give you a heads up. 👍 The adults around me didn't tell me about this, so I wanted to share some knowledge about my experience to anyone who cares enough.

In 10 years I am gonna be looking back at my childhood and remember all these good memories meanwhile they will just remember lip syncing to inappropriate songs wich is actually kinda sad to think about. I'm very glad I'm not a child any more. The peer pressure to be sexually attractive from the age of 14, 24/7, must be insane. I remember we use to complain about Disney Channel being unrealistic and sexualizing tweens because my friends and I were all ugly teens, but we could go home to get away from people in high school and turn off the TV. Now its everywhere. TV, social media, commercials, music, school, ect cetera. Not to mention that the neuroticism this breeds will continue into their adult lives. I hope these women will be able to accept themselves at 30 and that they don't regret sexualizing themselves.

I am a very mature (mentally and emotionally) 13 year old girl and coming from me I really needed to see this. I am always struggling with liking myself and my body. Almost all the girls around me or at my school are trying to transition straight to being an adult and i do see the problem in that. I can't love myself because every girl my age dresses like they are In their mid twenties. I do not ever want to dress like them but it is hard when i am trying to find my style but it is different from anyone i look at around me. My school has a uniform, so whenever we have free dress i will be walking in the halls and all the eighth grade girls will be walking around with pounds of makeup and tube tops. I hate it and it does need to stop, for the people like me who don't have social media feel threatened and can't grow normally and can't mature at a 'normal' rate. I want to make this clear i am talking from my experience and i am not trying to talk from anyone else's POV i know everyone's points of view are valid and so are your opinions.

Dolls, Toys, anime, drawing, and fantasy stories!! I love childish things! Why? Because I'm a goddamn child! The problem is, I want to be free and act like a child and NOT obsess over my weight, skin, and face. Of course I care about looking presentable/decent, just not at such a young age. I want to keep things as minimal as possible. If I break out, I just use ice and moisturizer. I'm really tall so I might be on the heavier side, I was such a big baby that everyone thought my mother was going to have twins!! :') But I'm an ok-ish weight! But, My millennial parents want me to grow up as soon as possible. My 40 year old mother wants me to grow up quickly, get a job, and settle so she can escape her toxic marrige without divorce or getting shamed from society. And yes, I know that sounds selfish of her but I sympathize with her because she's been through hell and still took care of my younger sister and me. And I feel I have responsibility as the oldest to take care of my family, and since it's breaking right now, I can’t help but feel like I didn’t try to be good because my parent's fights are about my sister and me. Ok this went down the wrong road! Back to the topic!! I can’t seem to figure out what I want to be and my parents are giving limited options of careers with 50 different paths of how each one can go! So how am I suppose to decide my future if they do it for me?! The moment I was born I had already been chosen to be a doctor! I don’t want to grow up and become boring because I'm losing my imagination, creativity, and everything that made me a whole. It feels like pieces of the old me are withering away and I can’t seem to recognize what’s happening. Its like a cruel, vague nightmare.
