I was on fentanyl for 18 years and when I told my dr I’d like to get off them to better gauge my pain level. They said “ I don’t know why we’re talking about this, You’ll never do it.” Within a week I went to a detox center and haven’t looked back. That was 6 years ago and I’m able to control pain from 2 failed spinal fusions with one gabapentin a day. I’m sure I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t take control of my health and not listen to them.

Jillian…. You are doing 1 thing above all. The quest, discovery, evaluation for the truth. That is what the Age of Enlightenment is all about. Had to laugh when the Scientific Method popped up in conversation. I’ve probably referred to the SM about 200 times over the last 10 years alone and our lack of respect in the general principles in everything we do. Then, seeing the largest profiled case in COVID and kicking the SM to the curb, it’s proof we’ve lost our way to “Scientism” ideology. Having predetermined outcomes is the most dumbfounding distrustful thing we are doing on purposes for control and profit. Ridiculous.

Just starting this video and curious where it goes. I have 3 bad discs and live in constant pain. I am scripted 3 - 5mg pills of Hydrocodone daily. I usually take 1 or 2 a week if the wife is going to drag me out. The pills, as far as I can tell do nothing, because the pain is always worse after anyway. But maybe it would be worse without it? Zero concern about addiction. Also went through multiple ketamine therapies for frozen shoulders. Those are fine now. Treatments were crazy!! But still no concern of addiction. Alcoholic father and step fathers, worked for years in bars. No issues with having a drink occasionally, but have had no occasions in over a year. No concern with addiction. Tried (repeatedly in my youth) and have had a new marijuana card that has never even been used in two years, even though edibles actually help with the pain. No concern with addiction. Think there is more to addiction than just access.

I don’t believe that addiction has a genetic basis. If anything, I would say epigenetics could be involved, which means that the genes change in response to drug use, or even a parent’s drug use. I’m an addict, BTW, and I simply do not believe that there is some gene or genes for addiction that get passed down through generations. What would be the evolutionary purpose of these genes? I have theories about why some people are more prone to addiction, but when you think about it, everyone is addicted to something. Dr. Drew, for example, is addicted to working and to attention and validation. Do we think he doesn’t get a similar chemical rush when he does interviews like this that I used to get when I would do heroin, or that other people get when they workout or eat cake? In fact, there is almost nothing more intoxicating than having someone(especially a pretty lady when you’re a straight man) sit there and listen to you and believe that you know something important that she doesn’t know. How would Dr. Drew feel if he had to stop working and doing interviews and such? Would he experience withdrawal? While this may be a more socially acceptable type of addiction, and probably a healthier type of addiction than heroin or even fatty food addiction, it’s still an addiction. Jillian is an addict too, of a similar type. It’s very clear, given she struggles to allow him to talk for longer than ten seconds without “adding to the conversation”(nice way of saying interrupting). Humans are hardwired to be “addicted” to validation, because for most of our existence, if we were not perceived by other humans, we shortly end up dead. But since we stopped living the way we are hardwired to live, and we stopped receiving the level of validation we all need to feel safe, we have had to replace this validation with other things. We have tried to anyway, but it doesn’t really work. I think people do drugs and drink alcohol and eat a lot and gamble in an unconscious attempt to get some sort of chemical reward that they would be getting if they had deep connections with others. Unfortunately, the replacement reward is more along the lines of a dopamine reward as opposed to the serotonin and oxytocin rewards we would get from connection and validation. Those last longer and make us feel much safer. And in fact, the behaviors we do in our attempts to get that dopamine reward are typically antisocial, which further alienates us, making the serotonin and oxytocin rewards even harder to come by. Dopamine rewards generally come from solo activities while serotonin and oxytocin rewards come from collective/social activities. They can be combined, like if you’re pigging out with a friend, but the dopamine will always override the serotonin because it comes in faster and stronger. People like Dr. Drew are lucky, in a sense, though it’s quite possible that these interviews also produce more of a dopamine reward than a serotonin reward for him, because he’s not deeply connected to the people he talks to. And also, the interactions are never equal, meaning he’s usually talking down to them, and you can’t connect deeply with someone if you perceive yourself is superior to them. That’s because humans are not naturally hierarchal, contrary to popular belief. In order to deeply connect with another, we need to essentially see ourselves in them. But civilization is not built for deep connections. It’s built for the material profits of a small group of very disconnected humans.

They are pushing Suboxone or overdoing blood pressure meds to counter the side effects of pain. I have a pace maker that is due to the second degree block caused by Carvedilol which is one of a dozen BP meds I was put on after being forced off of my pain meds. I’m bedridden when just a few years ago I was a fully functioning mom. Occasionally the pain gets so bad that I have to go to the ER because I will be in hypertensive crisis. That’s the only reason I would ever go in, not because I can’t handle the pain, you see, we have no choice but to handle the pain. I told the attending the truth, I’m in hypertensive crisis because I made the stupid mistake of trying to prepare dinner by myself so my pain is out of control. Problem though, I can’t have NSAIDs because they spike my BP. She promptly injected me with Torodol, panic ensued, over the next few hours I was pumped with I.V. BP meds, raising the dose each hour, to no avail, obviously because the pain had yet to be treated, also my pain doesn’t respond to NSAIDs since it’s not caused by inflammation. A new doc finally came on and did the obvious, gave me a shot of morphine. My BP dropped, my pain was better and I was able to go home and cook the dinner I had been preparing. On the way out my husband gave the original doc a bit of a what for because her apology for putting me through hell was phrased something like “well everyone says they can’t have NSAIDs so they can get narcotics” and then she left. I have never been back, regardless of how high my BP gets. Back in 2011 through 2017, before government overreach, I was on oxymorphone three times a day, but that got yanked. That was replaced with a variety of meds over the years trying to treat everything wrong with me that the pain causes. There’s a ton of side effects to untreated pain if anyone reading this is unaware, I’m now completely bedridden, one of the worst is I suffer from intracranial hypertension since I’m just stuck in bed all day. An unknown is that I have very little function left in my right arm, I have some very disturbing discoloration and lumps all over that same arm/hand/wrist and no doctors can figure out why. Get this, the mother of all ironies, they took away my ONE pain med, and put me on about a dozen other meds over the years (I’m on a half dozen now), and my dermatologist thinks my problem is ‘medication induced lupus’. My nephrologist also thinks it’s lupus, my rheumatologist doesn’t but his opinion is irrelevant since he’s given up on diagnosing me. My cardiologist doesn’t really play the diagnosis game, the neuro-ophthalmologist (I know, who knew that was a thing?) just wants to be cc’d on everything, the vascular surgeon gal is waiting to see what happens and my primary, thank goodness, is a master juggler.🤹🤹 In the meantime thank heavens, I have my teenagers to be the mom and my husband to pick up the slack. I’m just a waste of space now when a few years ago I was a member of the family, a contributing member of society, I felt good about myself. The CDC, Kolodny, Drew. Those dicks are making money pushing Suboxone. That trash causes uncontrollable sweating, rots teeth, causes suicidal thoughts. Tell me this, if opioids are so damn bad why are they pushing Suboxone, AN OPIOID?? I feel bad for my doctor. She got the courage to prescribe me twenty 5mg oxycodone every two months but still is worried about a DEA raid over it. The prescription is close to useless because it would take 6 a day to accomplish something but I would have to chose my days carefully since I only get three days out of 20 pills every two months. That’s the reality of pain patients. Everyone out there who has a story about their family member who did this or did that with their pain meds, think about the reality. Did addiction start with pills? I mean really? There was no cigarettes, no alcohol, no porn, no addictive behavior and one pill just made them addicts? Give me a break. I guess some clueless idiots just feel superior and like to be on their high horse knowing innocent people are being punished for the failures in their own families. They didn’t do enough, they enabled, they excused behavior etc. It’s rare that someone develops addiction from taking their prescription, as prescribed. Others are just ignorant. Look at the SAMHSA research. When people (who are actually prescribed their medication) misuse their own prescription the top reasons are: to treat pain because of under treatment by physicians, to get sleep and finally addiction. Less than 1% of people who misused (misused:took it other than as prescribed) their medication did so due to addiction. Look at the DEA website. They put out an annual drug threat assessment report every year. Know what it says is the leading cause of overdoses? Illicit fentanyl and heroin coming from the southern border. They even specify the cartel responsible and the connection to China. Let’s look at Covid and the way the CDC reported (conflated) those death stats. The same happened with opioids. If someone who was prescribed opioids dies, regardless of COD, it was an opioid death. There is so much wrong with the “opioid crisis”. Still, to this day there are doctors and senators being paid to push the state sponsored opioid, Suboxone. I guess they’re ok with people taking opioids as long as they’re government approved. Or at least they funnel money to the right people? Suboxone causes destruction to the people who are given it for pain. That’s not what it was intended for. They should go back to the pain meds that had been working for many, many years. The safe, effective, time tested, cheap med…oh there’s the word. Cheap. No way to make money.. guess we’re just screwed until people get the courage to fight back against the government, some education on the subject and mostly, some compassion. BTW, if you know anyone who ever needs a mastectomy, avoid Pennsylvania. Their idea of post op pain management is aromatherapy.

Regarding RFK Jr's drug addiction recovery, that topic is a mixed bag of "what ifs, & holy shit it's Friday night, what will my night entail?" To some, Friday night is a trigger. If you are weak minded, the mere thought will break you, if you don't discipline yourself, go to meetings, & find a damn hobby to fill your time. To others like myself, I'm too stubborn (or stupid) to drink/use, or "relapse" as the excuse goes. You're either ready to live, or relegated to die young if you don't fix yourself, & grow up. This is the mantra I've kept since I got sober January 3rd, 1997. God bless to all of you who are fighting to live. Don't drink/use, & obey Christ, for He is Lord!

Does this woman still claim a vegan diet is optimal? I mean, I guess it would be bad for business to admit you’ve been giving terrible advice for decades, while claiming you should be depriving yourself of the most nutrient-dense foods

I trained during the height of the "pain as a vital sign" era. It took me several years into practice before I stopped prescribing opiates for non-malignant pain, and I am ashamed to say that I definitely fed addiction in several patients. The experience has left me with a healthy level of skepticism of recommendations by the medical establishment.

It is so wrong to withold strong painkillers after dental or medical surgery. OTC drugs do hardly anything for pain, and taking Ibruprofen is very dangerous.
@swihun8930

Opiates can be invaluable to get people moving after surgery. Especially in elderly patients, you can’t afford to be bed-bound for weeks. If oxycodone is going to be the thing that gets you back on your feet that’s by far preferable to wasting away in bed.
@eschabert1129
@eschabert1129 5 дней назад
@@swihun8930 That is true, and 48-72 hours of opiates with surgery are acceptable, as long as there is no elevated risk for addiction. If there is you still need to be using alternatives. While being bed bound is devastating, triggering a latent addiction disorder is frequently fatal in the end. There are effective alternatives to opiates for post surgical pain management when opiates are contraindicated.

Chase the pain, don’t shine away from it. Pain is a great thing, it lets you know a lot. It helps you find the source of the problem to treat the actual problem. Chase the pain, chase excellence.

@@claudiaa.merandi1969 ha! Like you know me or know real life. Sit down childless cat lady. I walk with more physical pain than 10 humans combined. As a former nationally ranked gymnast, and NCAA D1 Olympic springboard and platform diver, competitive wakeboarder and sponsored snowboarder (just to give you an idea of where I come from - having broken my neck twice, and dealing with upwards of 10 surgeries. That’s just physical pain, so what. I’m not a wuss. I’ve been told I would never lift my arm overhead again, and yet, I do it 100’s of times a day. Painful yes, but I get it done. I’ve experienced emotional trauma on a level that puts PTSD on the shelf with a bad headache. So what. You learn from it and it shapes your true character, as God would have it. Took me a while to get to this understanding, sitting under many a big trees. And there is kid pain. Nothing like kid pain. When your child is going through something that you can’t help, but instead can only sit by and watch, ouch. Nothing more painful than that. So what was it again about me not knowing anything about pain? You people are so ridiculous assuming you know everything when really, you don’t know 💩

Not all pain can be cured. OA continues to be a degenerative disease til you die. *We know the source of the problem. People need pain relief* *what would you have us do, continue to suffer* ?
@TheTkrum
@TheTkrum Месяц назад
@@4TIMESAYEAR you are absolutely correct, not all pain can be cured. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. Lots and lots of ways to distract yourself from the pain. Painkillers are not the answer to pain but rather a problem in of themselves. In a case where you’ve found the end of the rabbit hole, well, balls in your court. How you decide to treat the pain is on you. How many people are quick to cry out for painkillers that haven’t even started chasing down the root of the pain? 9.5 out of 10 people.

Actually they haven’t bashed gays to me. I do all kinds of media. I keep all lines of communication open. I won’t always do or say what you want me to, but maybe consider listening to things that are outside your comfort zone in order to expand your understanding of people who see the world differently. Doing so buys you some goodwill so when it’s your turn to talk they will be more open to listening.
