After so many questions and people asking for it. Scott and I finally sit down and discuss which paint pens are best to use for autographs. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching and don’t forget to subscribe.
Thank you for this! I'm new to going to cons and getting signatures and I'm a huge poster guy! I use sharpie but I'll definitely start using posca and deco color now
Yes love this!! Heading into Mad Monster in Glendale next month and appreciate the insight and tips!! Usually I just use whatever pens they have at the table to use but wanna bring my own
Thank you guys! Perfect timing as well, I’ll be at Texas frightmare next week. This is helpful. I’m nervous to meet John Allen Nelson because I didn’t want him to mess up on the autograph but I’ll tell him what Scott says to celebrities
You are so welcome! I wanted to upload it before all these big conventions. That’s it, prep the pen prep the guest. Enjoy TFW and thanks so much for watching 🤘🏽
Great video guys, I've always used Molotow's pens but they're so hit or miss. Definitely will be trying out Posca and Deco from now on. Also do you guys got more videos lined up for the summer?
Hey guys! Just wanted to know what would be best to use on a scream mask. I'm meeting the whole original cast this weekend and want to know what would be the best to use for signatures on it. I'm pretty sure the surface is either pvc or latex
I’m not the person to ask 😅 sorry. I had a bad experience getting mask signed. I don’t get masks signed. I would leave it up to the guests. Since they sign so many masks.
I’m not familiar with displate posters sorry. Look for pictures of signed displate posters online and maybe you’ll see what pens were used. Hope that helps.
I have a question that I hope you guys know the answer to. I have a Halloweeen III poster pretty heavily autographed, and I went ahead and got it linen backed. It's the best way to preserve posters/art. With that being said, now that it's been linen backed, I don't know if that changes what type of marker/pain pens work on it best. I was told I can still get it autographed after it's been linen backed, but was not told which marker/paint pen works best. Do either of you have any ideas? Thanks
Great question. I honestly don’t know. I did reach out to Scott and unfortunately we haven’t dealt with linen backed posters to give you a solid answer. I’m sorry.
What marker would be good for a glossy poster? I have a Charlie Hunam SOA poster I'm getting signed in March and really want it to pop! It will be on a black background. Thanks!
I recently met Sam J. Jones and he signed my original Flash Gordon movie poster. I originally wanted him to sign with a yellow paint pen but he was not comfortable in doing so as he said it would run and did not want my poster damaged. So he suggested in just using a black sharpie. I was kinda bummed but I understood his judgement.
This is a very helpful video as I've been experimenting with a lot of different markers and or pens, I've found that the sharpie paint pens are pretty good.
I just wanna ask what company would you recommend for yellow. I typically use deco but for some reason when I use it either comes out to clear/light no matter how much I prep it.
@@MarkoDaničić-f5r great question, I’ve never gotten a guitar signed before. I would think an oil based paint pen should work well. I see online some say go with Sharpies. 🤷🏽♂️ do you have a guitar you can test pens with? Hope that helps sorry, not an expert on guitars.
Thanks! Acrylic Paint Pens, These pens are designed specifically for use on canvas. Oil-based paint pens are another option for canvas boards. They provide a more opaque and glossy finish compared to acrylic pens. However, they take longer to dry. Which convention!?
@Fonso13 going to Washington state summer con mainly for sons of anarchy guests! The canvas has a epoxy finish over it so it's just smooth basically! I reached out on Instagram so I could send you a picture so you could get more of a idea of how it looks, Hope to hear back!
So I watched the H45 video and I noticed a lot of people using white paint pens when previously such as in this video the can be hit or miss Has anything changed in terms of white paint pens? Do you have a recommendation for one? Or can I go ahead an assume Decocolor is still the king? Thanks
Nothing has changed really. Just the certain prints we had it worked really well. White on black background looks so good. It’s all preference really. We’ve been having really good luck with Deco white lately. Maybe cause they were brand new and have not been sitting in our cases for a long period of time. That’s probably why. Thanks for the question.
@@Fonso13 Thanks for the answer. I recently shelled out a LOT of money on an original rolled 78 Halloween poster with the blue ratings box. If you know, you know. I've seen a lot of people get their Halloween H1 posters signed in orange but something about the white si so clean and eye popping. Thanks for the reply.
I recommend testing on a similar piece of whatever item you’re getting signed to find the results you like best. I haven’t tried on parchment paper to test, but I prefer the deco color, followed by the Molatow then sharpie. Same preference for wood. Hope that helps.
i recently bought a few posca pens to use in a couple weeks at a convention but idk about the size. I bought the 5M tip size i was just curious what you use. I am getting a scream 24x36 poster signed what would you recommend for the paint pen size
The 3m is what I usually use on my albums. On a big poster you could use the 5m. It all depends on how they sign and if you want quotes. Those can take up a lot of space. If you check out my latest video you can see us using a deco paint pen and on albums and posters. Hope that helped 😅
@@Fonso13Skeet, Jamie, Arquette, Lillard, Waddell, and Whipp are all gonna be at spookala tampa in two weeks. Just went out and got a new 3M posca but wasn’t satisfied because it was a different green so i ordered one that’s the same as my 5M
@@seanbegleiter3091 very nice!! Also keep in mind the guests will have lots of pens at there table. If yours is brand new and prepped you should be good to go!! Have fun!
I gotta ask, does anyone know where to get these paint pens? I can't find them anywhere online or maybe I'm missing something. I could definitely use some for future cons. So does anyone know where I can get them and a case? Also let me know which brands are the best to use.
Michael’s is where I buy my pens, also blicks art supplies. As for the case I just looked pen cases on Amazon. We cover which pens to use in the video. Not sure what items you are getting signed. Different pens for different materials.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your help! I usually get 8x10 photos or Funko Pops signed but I'm usually picky when it comes to certain colors especially based on the guest. Nether less thank you so much!
Great video 😊. I am always prepared with my own pens at conventions. I do not trust the pens on the table. I have seen so often bad quality of those pens. I also want to make sure that the autograph on the picture is well seen.
That’s exactly it! Many times in the past you’ll see an auto barely visible cause the pen on there table has been used all day long. You want to see that auto POP! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 🤘🏽
Right on! What kind of material is the poster? Thick paper? Or regular poster paper? I’d go with a white deco paint pen or a Posca. I hope that helped.
Great video guys but something i should recommend to you guys as far as removing paint pen ink on items. I own and operate Lonestar Signature Service here in Fort Worth, Texas and Deco makes a DecoRemover that works like magic. It literally will wipe the paint off like a dry erase marker. It only works on Deco brand paint pen’s and will not work on Sharpie or any others, trust me I’ve tested. But even if the paint is dry and been on there a year, you simply use the DecoRemover where you want it removed, not only for smudges or smears but personalizations that some celebrities do when signing….(cough..cuhhh cuhhh Corey Feldman) it takes it right off. I’ve found running the Deco remover across the paint you want removed then using a q-tip to clean up the area removed works best. No after residue. It’s a must have in your arsenal. I’m surprised you guys don’t have one or discussed it in your video. Anyway hope I was able to share and turn you on to something very valuable in our world of autograph collecting. You can thank me later. Cheer’s guys! Todd
I had no idea that was a thing! Thanks so much for the tip! We definitely would’ve mentioned it if we had known. Thanks Todd! I do have Corey signed poster…. 🤔 😂
@@Fonso13 did he require the personalization? Yeah man, as far as the Deco get you one and test that sucker out on some junk stock. You will absolutely be amazed. It’s saved my butt on a few pieces, or saved my items. So I try to use Deco most of the time since it will only work on Deco products. You would think Sharpie and all the other brands would have jumped on board by now and made one too. I’ve been using them a few years now, so not sure how long they’ve been around. But anyway take care fella’s and probable see ya at Frightmare if you’re going this year?
@@toddjara9368 yes unfortunately his requirements were to have everything personalised. Is there a specific brand name that you use? There have been many occasions where that pen would come in handy.
@@speltier1965 if you are nervous about a paint pens, you can always go with a sharpie. Sharpies tend to fade after time though. If you have an old LP you can test different pens on it just for testing purposes.
@Fonso13 majority of my collection is with a Sharpie & they are over 40 years old & in pristine shape. Sharpie was all I knew back then. 😎 Thank you. Will get the brand paint pen you suggested & try it. 👌🏻
@@Fonso13 even on say drum head material? I’ve already got pasco pens I have a few days left before I leave for a m&g which pen should I go with I have the 5m pasco found the 3m was just to small for my liking.
@@antoniominichiello8532 I’d bring a different variety of pens just to be safe. Sharpies dry fast. Do you have a drum head you can try the different pens on!?
