There isn't ANY solvent in Posca Acrylic paint pens. However, these paint markers aren't really good on plain drawing paper because as you now know, the paint kind of eats away at the paper. Try testing Posca paint markers on stretched canvas, watercolor paper that's been gessoed, and Bristol board.

I hate Liquitex paint markers because the nibs wear out so quickly. MY favorites are Molotow Acrylic paint markers, Decocolor Acrylic paint pens, and Posca brand.

I agree with your decision 100% ...I find Posca pens (the precision nibs) get stuck on paint and splatter all over your painting. I've ruined many a painting thanks to those pens, so I only use them if its in an area that doesn't matter. Great video (as always!)

For plastic surfaces I know that posca is good but what about the other markers? Are they good for plastic surface as well?

I definitely appreciated your review! Two things: I also found that Posca tends to chew up my paper, but after I started using a more gentle touch, it wasn't a problem (at least for this one project). As for Liquitex, I preferred the chiseled nibs. I need the most precise nibs I can get, and found that the chisel was able to give me a sharper edge for more precise details, as well as broader coverage when turned on its wider side (the bullet nibs, which I used in other brands, are too broad for smaller details). I definitely need to look into the other nibs available for Liquitex -- are they made by Liquitex, or just generic nibs that fit into their pens? Thank you again for the informative review!

For an application onto Kydex which is a thermoplastic with a very fine texture on it (think light-medium sandpaper) which would you recommend, oil or acrylic? It needs to have staying power, it's going on something to be worn. On a texture like that will the lines still have straight edges? Would these work with a stick on stencil, or would it bleed becsuse of the texture ? Also which spreads more evenly? If I had to do an inch wide swath but with fine edges, which appears more solid, and not like multiple lines next to each other? Any brand or type you could recommend for this application? Thank you very much for making this video. I basically just need black and neon green, but a good variety would be nice for future products. Thanks again.

Thank you for such an excellent review! Since Posca are so popular, it’s very helpful to see them compared to other brands. From your demonstration it looks like Pebeo & Liquitex would be kinder to mixed media sketchbooks with watercolour. The Posca was quite abrasive to the paper. Thank you very much ! 👌

Disintegrating paper would be due to water not solvent. As in paper disintegrates in water but you could put alcohol or paint thinner on paper and it won't dissolve.

@SyndiaArt

I actually haven't tried that... but I'm pretty sure that as long as the paint is still wet you could mix another color on top. The nib would get messy but it's washable :o) Hope you're having a good weekend and staying safe.

Can you do European art dupes like Pilot Pintor paint pen, because in the contry I live there are not many options when it comes to art supplies mostly they are expensive or just art supplies for kids to use.They are to me as a begginer bad, right now I am trying kids oil pastels from my little brother, and trying to get better at oil paint.I would like to se some begginer tips. For end I just wanted you to know that i support you and your channel.

Liquitex & Pebeo definitely have bettter paint (Posca, sharpie, and most paint pens aren’t lightfast), but the nibs are unusable. I need detail nibs. Which you can get from FW Daler Rowney and Montana. Not sure how interchangeable they are, but the sizes seem similar. Edit - Pébéo has .7 nibs.

Im new to it all. Im using Liquitex pens to crest wooden arrows, which all work fine. I am searching for the finest point, so i tried Montana 0.7mm pens. Both brands claim to be water based acrylics, but the Montana paint always runs under acrylic lacquer, even if i wait a week. It is a real shame, because the nibs where perfect for what i want. I have cut down a spare nib for one of my Liquitex pens, but it became a little too weak to prime.

If paper disintegrates, the problem is the water in the paint. There is no solvent. Only the oil-based pens have solvent. You need to use thicker paper.

Hi :) Thanks for this video; it’s nice too see different brand of paint markers :) I want to buy acrylic paint marker to paint on rock (already have 2 coat of white) ; i saw that Posca are really great for that. The thing is i also want to do some 4x4 and 5x5 canva card, bookmarks and sell them ; in your video Posca not really good with paper ; do you think i should buy 2 type of paint marker ; Posca for rocks and Liquitex or Pebeo for the card ? I don’t know which paper i should buy to make mini canvas 4x4/5x5 ; i hope it’s not too much questions; thanks :)
@SyndiaArt
@SyndiaArt 2 года назад
It's had to tell. For posca I guess it would depend on the paper. I'm afraid you might have to kind of test things out... :o)
@tinaknutsen
@tinaknutsen Год назад
Sophie Pelletier; Use watercolor paper (available in tablets) as it has a thin coating that posca doesn’t damage that type of paper. You can use a light tack spray adhesive to transfer your watercolor paper artwork to card stock. Just cut it down to size. The other option would be to put a thin coat of gesso on your paper, let dry. Then proceed with your posca painting.

I love my Sharpie White Paint Pen. I'm not even where it came from honestly. I get supplies from thrift stores and friends occasionally so maybe it showed up in one of those bags. I wonder where I'd find Pebeo around here? There is one true, but tiny, set store in my town that carries fancy-schmancy art supplies because of the college wer have here in town. The college specializes in types of classes you can only go to certain schools to get. Some are electronic professions, some art professions, I know cloth design and clothing design are two of them, anyway I'm rambling. The college kids/adults need the fancier, more unusual at supplies. Where was I going with this? Hmmm, oh! I wonderf if I could get those paint pens there. I'll have to let you know. Take care and be safe. 😷
