We finally have a strong and well organized opening course for White and one for Black. With these and the FREE beginner to master level playlist from this RU-vid channel, it’s all about consistency over an extended period of time 😎💪 ⬇️

We all know how important the bishop pair is. However, we often fail to get the most out of it. After this lesson, we will know the main three ideas to keep in mind: bishops like open positions (open diagonals), they need targets to attack (weak pawns) and you can give one of the bishops up whenever you like if it is going to provide you an advantage.

Learn how to play Chess the right way from beginner to master level. National Master Robert Ramirez will take you up the pyramid by following a proven Chess training program he has been improving and implementing for over 10 years.
Benefits of Playing Chess:
- Promotes brain growth
- Increases problem-solving skills
- It exercises both sides of the brain
- Raises your IQ
- Sparks your creativity
- Teaches planning and foresight
- Teaches patience and concentration
- Optimizes memory improvement
- Improves recovery from stroke or disability
- Helps treat ADHD
Chess is an intellectual battle where players are exposed to numerous mental processes such as analysis, attention to detail, synthesis, concentration, planning and foresight. Psychological factors are also present on and off the board; playing Chess stimulates our imagination and creativity. Every single move a player makes is the result of a deep analysis based on the elements presented on the battlefield.
Chess in its essence teaches us psychological, sociological and even moral values. In a Chess game, both players start with the same amount of material and time. The fact that the white pieces move first is considered to be practically irrelevant -especially because a player typically plays one game as white and one game as black. Consequently, the final result of the battle solely depends on each player. It doesn’t matter if you win by taking advantage of your opponent’s mistakes or by simply avoiding mistakes yourself. Truth is that Chess is an extremely individual sport and our defeats can only be blamed on ourselves and no one else. And this, in the end, only benefits us because we learn to be and feel responsible for our actions and never come up with excuses to justify ourselves.
We also learn that when it comes to our victories on the board, our opponent's mistakes play a more significant role than our own skills. Let’s not forget that a Chess game without any mistakes would be a draw. This way, Chess provides us with another valuable life lesson: be humble at all times.

Coming with a plan when the main reactive/emotional plans fail..... That Clueless feeling and time burn on top of it oof. Learned a lot sir. Gonna watch it 2-3 more times to engrave the pattern : 1. Restrict the enemy king 2. Bishop two square away from the knight 3. Principle of creating weakness for targets 4.knights are tricky so take off their landing squares 5.not rushing with the plan and adapting to every move Final task - Review more games on this theme (magnus games from the current norway chess classic are cool) BTW started reading books on postional play by gelfand and those Russian Gms 100 endgames, karpov ; Kasparov games book.

1st game Flohr-Botvinnik - I really had the impression of being in front of a magician show leading from a closed position to a won endgame a h-outside-passed-pawn up. Wow! I will need more than once to try to fully understand the technique Flohr used. 2nd game - 26:30 after ...bxa4 bxa4 I expected ...exd4 instead of ...e4 considering the main plan of opening the position and creating new weaknesses (an isolated d4 in this case). Maybe it makes no difference in terms of final result, but I really appreciate your p.o.w. on this topic, if possible. Thank you Robert

Ok, I dont have much time to solve #1 puzzle, I believe the best move is c4, which is a pawn sac. Of course if white takes with their d Pawn, black can take on Bxe4, and black has connected passed pawns. For exc4, Black can play Ba4, attacking the knight, and when the knight moves, black takes the pawn on c3. If white defends the knight with Bg4, black has f3. I believe this is a slightly dangerous approach, as the pawn ok f3 is pretty much hanging, but it might just be fine for Black with the open lines. Again, I'll think more about the puzzle when Ill have time "I have an online exam". Thanks for the video, I'm sure it'll be of great use like always
@dhruvdust1812
@dhruvdust1812 3 года назад
hey, this is my second account, just wanted to say that my answer for c4 was right but my reasoning was messed up. I would've probably seen the right continuation to c4 if I spent more time. Plus I am always on the lookout for sacrifices so such moves are first nature to me. BTW, I am really getting better with my strategy and I'm starting to love the new strategic playstyle i've adopted. I'm still more of a tactician but I got a lot better with my strategy.

First of all... +1 for the Pink Floyd reference! 2nd: I need to start using that Lichess engine you always recommend... do you know how the engine level correlates to elo? ie: what level would be 1000, what would be 1500... etc.

Hello! I don't really know, but I think you can find your match as you try them. Pick one and if it too easy, move on until you find resistance (I know you knew this already 😅)

I found this very interesting. I rarely have two bishops as my last pieces. I guess I never made it a goal to save the bishop pair. Is that wrong?🤔
@NMRobertRamirez
@NMRobertRamirez 3 года назад
It is totally normal. Your game is evolving the natural way. That's why I am covering this topic now on lesson # 111. From now on, you will start paying more attention to it. If we had talked about it earlier in the course, you would not have appreciated it the same since you would still be falling victim to knight forks very often 😎

3:28: I'm trying to think what options white has of not accepting the sacrifice. Going b4 and then d4 probably doesn't work: black moves the bishop to b6 and then trades pawns on d4, getting both the open lines and the material advantage. Playing d4 right away loses to Bxe4, with the trade on d4 still to follow. Nf2 probably loses to Bxc3. But does white maybe have some other resource?
