Dang. 3k a month. I need to find me a Paiute woman. AST don't get a damn thing from are corrupt ass tribe. Got two casinos and nothing goes to its tribal members. The ones running the tribe always got new cars and nice houses. Regardless if the tribal members have jobs. The tribe still should be taking care of its people. Especially the elders.

Most of the tribes in Nevada are growing their own weed, and have dispensaries. Nevada tribes don't have casinos because it's not really worth it since there are casinos everywhere and slot machines everywhere, including 7-11 and grocery stores. My tribe (I know I'm white passing but I'm over 80% indigenous) is the Reno Sparks Indian Colony. We have 2 dispensaries and 75% or more of the marijuana products we sell are Nevada tribes' products from all over Nevada. We have more businesses, than a smoke shop. We have land that we rent out to big businesses and get to keep the taxes from the sales. We have a Walmart, a Mercedes dealership, a car max, and one more dealership that's just changed and idk what it is now, and we used to have a taco bell as well, but we turned it into a dispensary. We don't get money from our businesses, as far as individuals like monthly checks, like the Southern Paiutes, but we have a lot more people compared to them, prob 1500 or so members. The problem with getting money every month is what is happening to the Southern Paiutes. They won't lower their blood quantum because if they do, many more people will be eligible to become members and that means less money for the ones that are already members. It's not about keeping the culture. Look at those kids. They are a part of the culture. My tribe is also 1/4, but we are made up of 4 tribes, northern Paiute, Washoe and Shoshone. It used to be 1/4 of one type of the tribes I listed above. We just "lowered" it to be a mix of the above tribes blood. Because Paiutes were marrying Washoes, and Shoshones and vice versa, so kids had a mix of the blood. They could be almost half and not be a member of our tribe. Now, as long as they are 1/4, of a mix of blood, they are eligible.

Truly, some of the most genuine people I’ve ever come across in Las Vegas. I’ve been able to record a video at their dispensary called Nuwu for RU-vid and they were super easy to work with and very happy with the product and every time I walk in their doors it’s like family always a hug ready for you and the super huge smile. I love the Paiute tribe and everything they stand for, Great people looking out for their community 💙 Great coverage VICE!! 👊

I never left, and looking back It was a double edge sword… the lack of opportunities, and the high substance abuse was a factor, but I also spent a lot of time with elders, storytellers, singers and those who know the land and traditions…. Turning 40 this year and I understand it is my duty to champion those traditional values that guided me through those dark times.

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians just opened a dispensary here in NC where it’s still illegal. It just happened on 4-20 so I don’t even know how it works yet.

Wow I love these people. In América we have so many great people but what we are doing now letting all these people in the country without proper filings is so dangerous especially to places like this as sad as that is to say.

I'm Cherokee and get absolutely no money from my tribe a month $0. My friend is Seminole and get $10,000 a month, taxes every year, bonuses... all kinds of stuff! How is that fair when some of us can't even pay rent??

As someone who has European Ancestors, the way the Natives Protect and keep on passing down their traditions and Culture is admirable. I wish we could do the same with Anglo/Germanic things. Preservation of Ones Culture is essential.

Cannabis can't help educate Native Las Vegaans currently and the casinos also. Maybe it can work out barriers many endure as Las Vegaans.

Our tribe requires 1/4 any native blood, but we do have 4 tribes that comprise our membership/reservation.

It's hard to feel bad. I don't have a piece of land, even if it's baren to run to when life gets hard, I don't get monthly payments, job priority at the casinos, or medical. I'm sure it sucks to live on the reservation but you could go work in the city like I have to.

They only have 56 adult members. That’s what allows them to give $3k a month and with that, look how those people have to live. This was a great video! Ignorant eyes will lump this into their views of the Native experience but although this may be common for smaller tribes, it is not common in general to receive that type of money that often, if at all. Also look at their health department… The tribe needs funds.

I have been rooting for Marijuana to be legalized specifically for Tribes in the US. Partly due to genetics, alcohol causes massive and quick physical damage to people of native ancestry. They should of been allowed to cultivate and use Marijuana legally always as it doesn't wrack their body near as bad as alcohol does. I'm so glad to see this.

I quit smoking weed because I realize that it is a drug. I got off from alcohol and hard drugs and decided to smoke weed and after 2 years of being legalize I notice is stagnates you. Weed can be a medicine but it is also can be a drug.
