The Paloma is a pretty recognizable drink although this version is by far my favorite, superior to the original and seldom seen. So I think it qualifies. Little is known about the origins of the Paloma, which translates to Dove in Spanish. Some say it was named after a popular folk song of the 1860’s and others believe it was created by Don Javier Delgado Corona at his bar La Capilla (The Chapel) in the 1950’s. It is Mexico’s answer to the Tom Collins and it is oooooh so so so good. Rightly being one of the most famous cocktails ever.

1oz (30ml) Grapefruit Juice
3/4oz (22ml) Lime juice
3/4oz (22ml) Simple Syrup
2 Dashes Grapefruit Bitters

As Mexican, I can say salt is VITAL in a paloma!😝 a very refreshing cocktail! We usually drink it in a highball with a salted rim, ice, lime juice, more salt inside, tequila and topped up with squirt😋

I respect the recipe but I definitely prefer a more tequila and grapefruit forward Paloma so I use 1/2 oz lime and 2 oz tequila. I also think it’s pretty important to use agave syrup as apposed to simple. Also like the Paloma because it lends itself to a lot of modifications

This isn’t a “Paloma”. Where’s the Squirt? Where’s the salt? This sounds and looks like a very refreshing cocktail, but it’s not a Paloma. Perhaps we should call this a “modern and fancy take on a Paloma”?

I mean it looks good, but you don't use simple syrup in a paloma, instead you use salt when mixing and then fill it up with Squirt or another Grapefruit soda

The biggest mistake that I always see people make when preparing a Paloma is using fresh grapefruit juice instead of using a grapefruit soda like Jarritos or Squirt. It's never as good as just using a grapefruit soda with a squeeze of lime. It's like making a Cuba Libre, but insisting on making your own Coke.
