Breeding new born in poverty is ok? Giving birth in a county hospital paid by tax paying dollars is ok? Making babies living paycheck to paycheck is ok? Depending on tax payer hand outs as a way of living.to feed children is ok? Voting for big government during elections to collect benefits is ok? Breeding a new born should be a privilege, not a right. Children should have the right to sue for damages for being poor and destined to failure. County hospitals and social service agencies in order to recover tax payer dollars should be able to sue those breeders on grounds of child abuse. Chew on that

Preach! This generation feels entitled to everything
@gloriacotton436
@gloriacotton436 9 лет назад
+JOHN S Please, please don't stereotype all Millennials by saying, "This generation feels entitled to everything." First of all, the Baby Boomers (my generation) were taught by our Traditionalist parents that WE were special and could do anything and everything and were entitled to everything. We were impatient and that gave rise to the creation of instant popcorn, coffee, tea, grits; credit cards and living beyond your means to "keep up with the Joneses." Baby boomers taught our Gen X children that they had to fend for themselves because we were out doing our thing to change the world but not to guild our children. Result: latch-key kids who grew up to be independent and we then said they were arrogant and didn't listen and were disrespectful and entitled in the workplace. EXACTLY! We raised them to make their own decisions because no one was there to make decisions for them. Boomers and Gen Xers are the parents of Millennials. Most of the "entitlement" comes as a result of the absentee Boomer with their first family over correcting with their 2nd. The Gen X parents many times have the mindset of "my parents were absent from my life growing up. MY child is never going to have that experience. I wasn't celebrated for anything. I'll celebrate my child for everything." We. Have. Raised. EACH generation to have the mindsets they do.

JOHN S a classic example of blaming it on the other person for one's responsibility..there should be a law/penalty/punishment for baby Boomers like you, who failed to raise responsible, loving children who weren't taught to respect..if you weren't fit to be conscious parents, you shouldn't have had kids in the first place..

Entitled or not.. parents are obligated to pay for their childrens education until a certain age or a certain level of education.. idk what the law is in America but in Switzerland we are obligated until they get their Degrees or Masters of their first school choice.. if they choose 1 course and then they decided to chg it.. then we are not obligated to pay for the 2nd choice.. only for their first choice.. but if they choose to go back then we have to pay for it.. education is very important in this country.. of course if parents cant afford it there are help facilities or other options like apprenticeship.. whatever it is.. we are obligated.. and i think its the right thing to do.. we should pay for their uni if we can afford it and find a way if we cant.. but most of the times.. when the child is old enough and working and studying at the same time.. they help pay for it too.. its how you raise them as well.. if the child sued for a paid education.. then there must be something that the parents did to drive the child away and live with grandma..

No as a "millennial" im not spoiled. Spoiled kids arent common. But its not an obligation at all. College is too expensive in the first place for a piece of paper you might never use (depending on what you go into honestly).
@marinashannon6046
@marinashannon6046 8 лет назад
The thing is. FAFSA requires you to provide your parents information. According to the law they are responsible until you're 25. I've been on my own since I was 16, and I still had to get a hold of one of my parents to get their W-2 info to apply for college, and get grant and loan money. So it's not really a generation issue.
@da6337
@da6337 8 лет назад
+Marina Shannon my parents stopped being responsible for me at 23. I was able to get college loans without my parents co-signing. And without them on my Fafsa. So unless that is a new rule (after 2012), that is not necessarily true.
@marinashannon6046
@marinashannon6046 8 лет назад
Of course you can get loans, I was 17 in college and working. I've been at a university since I was 15 lol I'm talking about your pell grant, ohio opportunity, that stuff requires your parent's information to obtain, because schools will not even give you aid until you fill out the FAFSA
@ccattleya24
@ccattleya24 8 лет назад
+Marina Shannon Yeah that's true, because my parents make a certain amount of money I don't qualify for grants and because I don't have a good paying job or a well established credit my parents must cosign for my loans. The government expects for your parents to pay for the students education.

I feel as a parent of two which one of my sons is in college and I help him best I can. As a parent we should help your child get a excellent education so they can become successful. Most adults feel that relief your child turns 18yrs but that shouldn't stop you from doing what's right for your child. I know every situation is different but if got young adult that wants too better than selfs you should help and guide them. #Love&Supportmychild

If any parent can afford tuition to send their children to college they should do so and stop using money as a weapon to tell their kid's how to live their lives. they cannot relive their lives through their children's, I think there was more to this than what became the main view of the case, keep in mind that she was staying with the grandparent. When media host speak on issues in the new's I wish you all would do a better job as in speaking on the issue as a whole and not an area, we your audience has access to almost everything you have access to so you need to do better than partializing....I'm disappointed and the ignorance of saying you would be in jail, if you were my mom I would hit your ass back. chew on that.... see this is how yall lose ratings because viewers like me keep seeing this repetitive stupidity.

Hey, my parents never paid a dime for my college education. I was told they would like me to go, but they didn't have the money to help me pay for it. i started out paying for one course at a time with my part-time job earnings. Then, I dropped out when I got full-time work, and tried to return. i had to drop out three times before I finally got my A.S. degree 21 years later. Then, I went on to get my B.A., going part-time, and graduated six years later. I worked for it, and I'm still paying for it, but I did it myself. I find it unbelievable that kids today think they should be able to go to college on their parents' or the taxpayers' dime. When you pay for it yourself, you aren't going to screw around. You will take your education seriously and work hard for every grade you earn. One thing this Millennial generation didn't learn is a good work ethic because parents just gave their kids everything they wanted. When they get out in the real world, they are going to find out that the world doesn't give everything to them with no work coming from them. They're just being set up for failure.

Sad that the parent/child relationship has broken down so far that this is the result. But if the child had a drinking issue and refused to live by her mother's rules, she is reaping what she is sowing. You WILL NOT take more than what you are entitled to from me as your parent--ie, food, clothes, shelter, healthcare, K-12 education. This spoiled brat is entitled to nothing more than that. She needs to earn her keep!

Shoot! I would get clubbed in the head first, if I ever thought about suing my parents. XD I'm a college student, so I live with my mom when school is out. Just knowing all that she has invested in me, why would I let her down? I'm at my mother's house right now preparing to study abroad, and I am not on her lease. Meaning, she can kick me out if he wants to for trespassing and I would have to go. I know that without her and other family relatives, I would have nothing! And this is because they are my foundation, without foundation I am done! I'm done son! XD I am really grateful for my mother and others adn try my hardest not to let them down, because I'm telling the truth here, they didn't have to help me. Kids these days are so ungrateful where many kids and grown adults think they deserve something. As long as you have food, clothes and shelter, you don't need nothing else. (well except love of course) but yeah, nothing else. no games, no car, no moeny, no computer, no door, no soap, no eating utensils, (you can drink water from your hands using the bathroom sink), lol I mean really. smh.

My lil cousin is 12 and I say this to him every time he does something stupid when it relates to money. I say, "You can't take what you didn't earn". Parents are not obligated to pay for ur college. Most parents do it because they don't want all that financial baggage on you and you as their child, earn that by how you act and how you treat your parents. If as a parent, I set rules for my kid because they are making stupid mistakes but my kid decides to go live with my parents, disrespect me then sue me? It wasn't like the parents weren't willing to pay. Child! You better be ready because I will counter sue ur ass for everything every thing. My mum paid for private school tuition for myself and my siblings then, went back to school to her master's. We get to a certain age and our parents stop been obligated to provide certain things IF you haven't "earned" it. It's like suing your parents because they won't put you in their will. Child! Such disrespect. Stop it!

They made the policies that jacked my tuition so high I gotta spent the next 20 years to pay it back. Fiona Nyawira how do you figure going to school is a birth right??? If it was a birth right then it would be FREE just like air, water, etc. How about all the children in 3rd world countries? Or that are given up for adoption, abandoned? They dont have parents so what about their "birth right" to college? Why is their free ride to college taken away because of a choive their parents made? What makes your life more worthy than theirs? News flash hun its not! When they are of age to do college they have to figure it out, they work, join programs, apply for scholarship money, hustle, get creative anyway they can to make it through to graduation because it is something they WANT! It is a PRIVILEGE to have the option to go to college! Your parents job is to teach you how to handle & problem solve in life. To know how to treat people, the value of a dollar, what it means to be a team player & a good person, as well as obviously other things you learn throughout your time with them. But basically to get you ready & prepared for the world you are about to enter on your own! Only 2 things in this world are guaranteed or as you say "birth rights" & that is you are born & one day you will die! Thats it! You wanna go to college? Then dont make excuses, dont do the whole blame game, you get your big girl/boy pants on & you find a way to make it happen! Of course as a parent myself i WANT to be able to send my child to college or at the least help pay for some of it but its not always an option. All i can do is help get them ready for whats to come. So b4 you respond all defensively all i ask is you take a min to really think bout what i said.

That girl will learn the hard lessons in life that the world does not revolve around her and her selfish ways. When I was EARNING mt degrees, I made damn sure that I did not ask for any financial hell because I wanted to do it on my own. I only accepted help when it was offered. That's something that spoiled brat never learned. kids shouldn't be going to college unless they have a very high academic record. Even then, most of the time a young adult can't truly grasp the amount of debt they are taking on and will load themselves up for future failure racking up course after course. By the time they are 25 they don't even have a job yet and already in debt 6 figures. If they want to find a vocation, that's cool. But honestly, there are so many people dropping out of university and will never earn a dime more than a highschool grade with a good work ethic. And increasingly, the degrees don't actually mean anything. I know a guy that went to university for one year. ONE. And put it on his resume and they treat it like he has a full marketing degree. They don't even check with the school or ask for GPA. He made tuition, for all they know he failed every first year course (instead of reconsidering the debt he was piling up). By this logic, most places won't know that if you put university or college on the resume that it is real or not. I'm not saying you should lie, I'm just saying that it doesn't make you more qualified. If anything it only makes you a better candidate because you have debt to pay so you're kind of forced to stick with a job that you don't like because it is the only way you've found (so far) to keep up with the debt or pay some of it off. Instead, why not learn what life really is. Not just go out and have fun, in fact you should probably limit that to save money - but in a 1yr vocational school you'll leave making the same amount as most college professionals (60k ish). And even if you have other dreams, it is a fallback. If you learn plumbing, even if you decide you want to be a "content creator"... if it doesn't work out at least you have a job that will always be in demand and you can make good money off of if it turns out you aren't irresistible and charming and attractive to be that content creator.

I didn't even think it was possible to sue them for tuition money, does anyone know the name of this girl (I'll google) and her case details? But, I would say you should be able to sue your parents if say they gave you cancer from your second-hand smoke. I wouldn't have any sympathy for them getting thrown out in the street/in a crappy nursing home for giving them possibly a fatal disease that will either kill me or make the rest of my life miserable, isn't that what they deserve themselves? This isn't 1955 where we didn't know the dangers of it, you've had decades of scientific fact, so you know better.

How much do these four people despise their children. As a parent, you should be glad that your child aspires to be the most it could be, and do whatever you can to help him. The lawsuit in question is probably won by the daughter because the parents CAN finance the education. Let me tell you about Germany. Here, every person is entitled to get all the help the parents can give to get an education. Mind you, ONE education. If you pick a second line after that, you have to do that on your own. Plus we do not have a system that crushes people with the cost of education. Colleges and Universities are free of tuition to be paid. The anger is directed in the wrong direction. Be angry with the educational system in the USA that crushes the lower percentage, don't hate a child that wants to be all it can be. And be happy to give all you can for your child, if you do love it. Don't pride yourself in the fear your children have.
@charleneblack2792

The case in question wasn't really about the parents padding for college. All the girl wanted to do was party instead of doing her work so the parents felt like they were throwing money out the window.

Maybe u should read up on the story.She was a spoiled , ungrateful brat who wanted to drink n break her parents rules .Being drunk was more important to her than going to school or working. They were willing to pay for school but she refused to follow her parents rules of not drinking and staying out late.
@_clauscarstensen
@_clauscarstensen 8 лет назад
That may very well be, which does not surprise me. The Steve Harvey Show people have their point of view, and they chose a case that caters to it. How very nice that the young person in question was one of the group that tend to abuse (in their view) the demand for getting their education sponsored, as opposed to having to start their lives with the massive burden of a great debt. The educational system of the USA is a train wreck, and it's not even funny anymore how proudy such a majority of people wh suffered from the same failed system are eager to make it go on and push the disadvantage on to the next generation. While the european and particularily the scandinavian educational system proves that the USA are really making things worse for those who don't grow up with the silver spoon in their mouth.

Claus Zuhaus omg seriously U R SO WRONG!!!!! Ur blaming the Steve Harvey show for choosing a case like this. Firstly -ITS HIS GOD DAMN SHOW TO CHOOSE WHATEVER FRIKIN TOPIC HE WANTS!!!! & the whole point IS that it’s outrageous in this specific case that the child got compensation for being a damn brat in the first place. So your point has no merits

The obvious answer is no, the parents shouldn't be required to pay. But that would an interesting law to consider, that parents are required to pay a certain percentage. Imagine how fast birth rates would go down, birth control usage and development increasing, more youth getting careers and furthering their educations. Its too unpopular to become anything other than a thought but I think that could improve a few situations.
