I've been warning people about this scam for two YEARS. Shouted down, insulted, et al. They are in year ** 10 ** of development. STILL asking for money.

Remember AoC did the same thing. It failed miserably simply because the MMORPG audience just aren’t into BR or Extraction genre. And BR, Extraction or Survival players aren’t into MMORPGs either so there is almost no overlap or reach.

Embers Adrift is free to play till Nov 2 for it's one-year anniversary.

Whoever bought that $10,000.00 lifetime sub is in for a rude awakening. This game change makes it look more like Chronicles of Elyria. Game Over!

The honorable thing to do is close down the whole project. Give back whatever you can to the big backers. (I know they won’t do this)

They may as well close down and thank the 10 years of free pay for nothing. With what's going on now, there are other working games like embers adrift that look great and people are having fun with. I would rather stay with P99 than to put a dime in to Pantheon because I know from experience it looks to be a lost cause. With Brad's demise, that put the nail in Pantheon coffin.

I cannot tell you how much I despise the cartoony art style shit you see everywhere these days. Funnily enough, not having it look like a retro MMORPG like Everquest makes it look like one of the thousands of generic types out there that use this similar graphical aesthetic. Way to kill the soul of your game I guess.

In 2018 VR forfeited their Californian ft b license. They werent paying back taxes and fees and had not updated their corporation contacts and board of directors. I want to go on to say that I played with the ceo of visionary realms Chris Rowan. In private tells Chris admitted to me that the game never coming out about a year ago. I recorded the conversation. I Am willing to turn out my files to authorities.

Pantheon lost its way once Brad passed. It feels like they have a game publisher running the show now. As a very early backer, I have lost all faith. Concept art being posted at this point as proof there is a game coming is an absolute joke.

😂 I played old school eq, I know what they were going for and had an eye on this for like 8 years. EQ Next did the same thing with Landmark. This whole thing has become the funniest thing ever, the cringe could peel the paint off a wall! 🤣

This was my most anticipated mmo and like I cant put into words how dissapointing this is. Just want a hardcore like mmo. I guess everquest 3 it is even though ill be an old man lol.

I'd love to hear them describe thier target audience. They used to be able to very clearly say it was for old EQ style fans but literally every single move they've made strays from that audience. It looks more like its trying to cater to GW2 fans or something and they don't have a chance at competing in that arena even at a maintenance mode level of success

As soon as they changed graphics completely gave up on it. Knew they were going to screw it up. I played EQ until about 3.5 years ago and even played p99 for one year after that. But there is a weird cult super fandom out there for every intellectual property that will make excuses for them no matter what. Happened for Rings of Power, Wheel of time etc. Its so strange.

I gave them $100 way back in 2017. After seeing the latest update I just accepted it's a total loss, I won't even get to play the MMORPG since they changed the design to an extraction game.

When Brad McQuaid passed away, they buried his game with him .... *the game is dead* I bought *two* $1000 *PLEDGE* packages, 10 years ago .... and now they are changing the art style ... The blurb about "Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment model" reflects the BS that exists in the modern hyper-dysfunctional software development space. Dysfunctional companies that seemingly exist mainly to burn out devs and create bloatware garbage have taken to focusing on a 'new process' that they call continuous integration (+ blah blah). It is a bunch of BS that *could* work in ideal conditions, *maybe*, but that really is meant to sidestep the main issue with all these places: there is no coherent, cogent vision of a good thing to build (nor even any real intent to get there - only fakery), the dev's never get a smart design or specification to follow, only barebones conflicting guidelines that they are then supposed to turn into gold (practically impossible, especially if you follow orders as you must). So really it's about pushing off the responsibility for this lack of vision or guidance or functional specs onto the devs/qa. Anyhow, internally in professional software development you'll have all sorts of BS meisters who will get hired to promote this BS as if it were progress, and then everyone has to get trained in it and adapt to it, hearing constanly from HR and leadership about how this will solve all the problems and is 'progress', when it is just more BS and dysfunction. So, in short, that nonsensical blurb you highlighted that doesn't answer the needs of the players at all is just these morons trying to get more mileage out of the BS they used to distract and abuse the dev/qa team internally as they continue to profit from the corruption (corrupt people need things to be all F'ed up and broken to squeak by and get paid for being cancerous). Just like how devs/qa are supposed to get excited about Continuous Integration, so too are end users? LOL.

Too many developers/publishers are trying to "Star Citizen" games anymore for eons.

They have had 10 years they should have been collecting data all this time.

Look, there isn't a SINGLE Kickstarter MMO that has come to fruition in the way it was sold. Not even close. Ashes of Creation won't either. Aside from trying to get this done on the pledges of a completely niche market (of which I would probably count myself if these campaigns had any hope of success), you simply can't make these kind of games without the budget, workforce, and backing of major studio.

Have they ever actually shown a working quest on any of their previews, any boss monsters, any sort of raid mechanics? Mounts? Anything beyond this same empty town and that one dungeon they kept showing?

It’s funny how the “have patience you loser trolls” have completely disappeared from the Pantheon channel. Quite simply: Brad McQuaid put together a team to do things he knew needed to be done. But no one was ready to step in after the tragedy. This may or may not have come out with him. Without him, dead in the water. I feel bad for the mega multi-thousand dollar contributors. (Design your own quest!!)

It's almost like they had nothing developed at all and needed to slap something together quickly when the pressure was on to actually show people something tangible. Have ANY crowdfunded MMORPGs been successful?

Pantheon and star citizen both feel like scams. Ashes of Creation is the only one that feels real and like it's getting closer and closer to release. It used to be just them talking in updates, Then concept art, Then tech showcases, now every dev stream has tons of actual gameplay going on in the background with showings of the combat, classes, story systems, building, events, etc. AoC will probably be the only crowd funded MMO that gets made complete and that's because Steven isn't a developer, or a programmer, he's a rich gamer who loved Archeage and other MMOs and hated their practices so he decided to just get his own version built. You can tell he plays it, and gives his developers feedback on what he wants changed and im like "If I was rich this is EXACTLY what I would do. Hire some people and crowd fund to make the game I WANT" He also constantly says. "Please do not buy these cosmetics and packs if you don't really want them and can afford them. Ashes is fully funded no matter what, It will be completed, we do not need your money" I tout AoC all the time. Only game I really have faith in.

Found the cult , they are called TTC , its a trading company guild. The guild leader does nothing but start drama in ooc and they are 100% imo a cult (left their guild after realizing), after i realized it was a cult i decided to look for videos of people who had problems with pantheon and i found a few video's of people talking about an eq cult. Welp THAT guild is the center of it.

I think this is more an issue of 1. taking way too long to release... the game looks fine now, just release it 2. McQuaid passed on, which means the whole project lost its vision

People always try to justify these slow dev times/trash developers. "it's hard work to dev a game", "they dont have enough money so give them more", "Ah it's ok to have 10 years to make a game". Sorry but that's a joke to me. Making games while obviously not easy are far easier to make today than in the early 2000s and 90s when all our favorite mmos came out. One major thing is missing from these new "passion" devs and that's the passion in general. Ultima online? it was built in a run down building according to the interviews with the creators while obviously not making any money from the project nor getting crowd funding. Everquest was made by passionate nerds who understood what was needed at the time sure they had backing but they still had more heart into making the game than any of these crowdfunded MMOs aside from maybe starcitizen. Same situation with WoW. There's no excuse to not make good games on a skeleton crew with a small budget. It's already been done. All i see are greedy people profiting off of nostalgia.

I know Cohh was a HUGE backer of the original vision.... I wonder how he feels about this situation .... he had the developers on a couple times, with a rough play thru , and it was obviously for a selling point. Trying to get more money for the game, bring more interest. Now that they have bait and switched, I wonder how Cohh feels about bringing his audience in, and showing something wanted and building hype for something - even he was excited for the game , hence him showcasing it as much as he could - that is now defunct. I wonder what he would say to them .....

Saw a Livestream of this game. It looks nothing like what they showed before. The animations are atrocious and the art style looks like disney made it. He uses a 2 handed battle axe like its a fencing degen. What a joke. Been playing ffxi for 20 years and im still grinding new content lol.

I say if only way to take any money at least have some what playable game and people can choose to spend money to play it or not vs not having a game no one can play and asking for donation money to help fund the development. I say with so many games trying to beat WoW, the only way to beat WoW is just by having a game out there and keep on working on improving the game while its helping ya to make money vs just taking money and ending up with nothing in the end.

I mean is it really that crazy, the game takes 10 years the art style is so old, the old style looked nicer but it ran like ass for me. I just want an old mmo that feels like EQ/Embers Adrift. I think the reason for success of the other art styles is that they want it to run on MANY systems. Lets be honest this is going to be a niche game for people that like a specific style of game. I feel like nobody sub 40 is playing this game but yet we have some of the most immature supporters (not saying anyone here just from what i read on the net, I appreciate Banjo and his videos very much, even though I think most of those people were NEVER gonna play this anyway just like to show up.) We do not boast the numbers to keep a game like this alive they have to find other ways to make money and cut time. Money has all but dried up, I do not envy their position. I will say one thing. I have been burnt by SO many kickstarter games that I hoped would be a success some of which I never even TOUCHED or SEEN even with pledging. I have played various stages of Pantheon....I have NOT played hardly any of the other games I wanted so there is SOMETHING here and has potential. These games need to make money, I dont know how you do this efficently but they got to try something or the game is dead. People freak and think every small studio has unlimited money coming in daily 10 years is a whole lot of time to pay to keep lights on and pay employees. I dont see any money coming in any way shape or form after last investor burst so what can we do? Just doom post and let it die (like sadly it probably will since rage posting is more common and domino effect of complaining follows). When im in the game it runs, there is something here, there are features and ideas that are things my old mmo liking ass has. I wont give up on it, but instead of us gathering on Social Media r to make fun of every post, every misstep, every choice what can we do to get it out? How can we help? But lets be honest most people complaining werent gonna pay for this anyway, dont like this style and just like to dogpile make fun of things on X, and all of those of us who do want something like this already have. I would love honest opnions of what ways do people think this gets made or how to get money without trying things? They even said on Q&A without ANY money coming in, if they dont monitize SOMETHING and they continue at this size team and speed it will take YEARS to come out...fan base will be literally dead soon :) so hope the figure it out.
