"The Paperboy" was a great movie. Nicole Kidman's performance was amazing. Such an excellent film.

zach efron was amazing. i've heard of him; he looks familiar, but i will never forget his character. portraying a role like that must stay with an actor the rest of his life.

"He's not a gator-gutter, he's a gator-gutter's son. He'll do the gator-gutting til the gator-gutting's done." Hahahha What. The Hell.

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it. Laughed both with and at it, but the feel and the OTT barking nature of it all was a lot of fun. Kidman was especially good. Also it looked great and grainy like 70s films (either that or it was a bad print at Greenwhich Picture House). Much better than most of the reviews it has been getting.

Slavery ended in the US in 1865. This movie takes place in 1968. This was not "about the end of slavery". Things are just very backwards in the US.

If a servile class has no credible financial ability to escape their circumstances it is slavery by another name - every political historical analysis I've come across in my career as a political scientist has concluded this, though my dictionary-writing friends disagree. Roman slaves had limited money from their masters to give them the illusion of freedom. Russian serfs between the 1860s and the 1910s similarly.

I didnt care for this movie. The ending was very weak, and imo this movie isnt really sure what its trying to be.
