@@A_Ducky i think he has that many because the case is a high profile one, hes gonna lose the case no matter what and public defenders dont get paid for losing cases. likely his assigned defenders know they wont get a payout and are getting frustrated or are attempting to cause enough chaos to file for a mistrial and try again pleaing something else besides insanity, because that plea is whats going to make them lose. immature petty greedy lawyers all around that table. its a waste of the victims and the courtrooms time

If they're not getting paid, wouldn't it be in their favor to at least gain some exposure, clout.. from appearing on all these cameras - in a good light rather than the bad (finger flip)? I don't see why they're tanking their careers.. I mean who's gonna hire them with this publicly available? He wants the judge to make a comment about just that. That would instantly become a mistrial. If the judge acknowledges what he did as fact before the verdict, the lawyers will say the judge is biased and has a pre-determined agenda. This is an absolute last ditch effort, and the risk of being disbarred is worth it to the lawyers, because if they actually got a mistrial, every school shooter will want these lawyers thinking they too will get a mistrial. It wasn't just the chick with the glasses that flipped the courtroom off, the lady to her left also did it right before she did. Regardless of why they did it, whether it fits into the "aim to get a mistrial" conspiracy or not is irrelevant; the fact that they're able to do that, after hearing and seeing detailed evidence (such as how Peter Wang's head basically exploded after being shot by the guy they're joking around with) is disgusting, but not really surprising.

To get a mistrial, at best? They are legally and morally required to defend the defendant to the best of their ability... ethically. But intentionally aiming for a mistrial by trying to get the judge mad goes beyond responsibilities as a lawyer and, at best, is trying to benefit from a high profile case. Even if they did get a mistrial, it would just start the process over again. There was no winning here, so the least they could do was have some respect in such a terrible case. @alexmatthews3419 Год назад
@Lol Lol Two reasons; its the trial wrap up, the verdict is the clippable part for news coverage that is typically followed, but there's also the core thing that you can even hear going on in the clip. The victims have a chance to speak to the defendant in what's called a "victim impact" statement. While many of these people were people who testified on the stand, an impact statement isnt being offered for the jury in their decision so its done after the fact. What the defense attorney is upset about is the fact that in these impact statements they're issuing threats to their families specifically because the defendant got life instead of the death penalty. The judge and prosecutor didn't have a hand in them, though, but there's other mess in the trial going on that's led to a generally hostile environment between the two parties (state, defense) and the judge.

I mean, it would be a hard choice being in that situation. Choose to continue living and have that sliver of hope you may somehow get out, or openly choose to die and have a date put on your head. NGL if I was in a situation like that, even if I knew it was hopeless, I don't think I'd be strong enough to face my own demise like that. Luckily I don't kill people though so it's a reality I'll never face but still, theoretically putting yourself in that situation is such a dilemma.

Prison isn't that bad. Sure, it isn't as good as being free, or even fun at all really, but it isn't constant torture or anything like that. You can still watch some tv for a little bit, read some books, do workmanship tasks, write books, draw art, etc. In fact, I would say that prison is actually a step up in quality of life compared to about half my childhood was. Mostly people would take an imperfect and uncomfortable and slightly boring and dangerous life over just straight up being dead.

Dun forget the lawyers reflects to their client. I love the judge for schooling them.

Fucking hell the level of disrespect and answering back from these scumbags to the judge is astounding.
