Ah memories...being a child raised in California. I remember seeing the Partridge bus once, And as a kid I remember Danny at the movies where I was and walking down the isle to find a seat. Kids were teasing him - "There's Danny Partridge". I could tell his feeling were hurt. I tried to find him during intermission, but too many people there. Years later, I saw David Cassidy sing in Utah. My daughter got to touch his hand when he was singing on stage and I got to when he was leaving. He was nice
Thing is, I loved Keith Partridge in the first two seasons, when he was just a sweet guy in love with his guitar (and the target of Danny's evil schemes). Then, the last two seasons, he became this major himbo couch artist; it was like finding your favorite toy floating in the toilet. I still have problems watching those last season's episodes today.
David Cassidy was a wonderful great talent, but for music industry a commodity.. And he was burned for make money for them. This sums his life right up. But he had these combination of sexy, sensibel and sophistication innocance , than he was at his heydays the coolest guy on the planet. He had a great voice and was so beatiful and amazing. We never forget you RIP.
Shirley Jones, playing Shirley Partridge, was "the first working mother on TV"? What about Diahann Carroll's "Julia", a show that began in 1968? She was a nurse, and she worked, and was raising a son! Where do they get these "claims"?
I agree, I did not like the last season either. I do not know if the third season was as bad, I can't recall. I did fall off watching 1973-74 though. I loved David's hair. I wanted a hairdo like his!
6:44 Anyone know who recorded this instrumental? It used to be played during "experiencing technical difficulties" breaks on WPIX-TV NY in the early 1970's?
They made the unfortunate decision to dump what had made the show different and great: being a band. That (and the bus having to be pushed everywhere, they were too cheap to keep fixing it) led to two seasons of "house" shows. The writers strike hit the third season and all they could do was copy Brady Bunch and Donna Reed episodes. That's why you got "Keith sex ed" episodes. Slade's vision for the show as a dramedy was ruined. It wasn't just that David was leaving; the show was already gone.
@cowboy68 You know what a "bimbo" is, don't you? A male version of a bimbo would be a himbo. And a "couch artist" refers to the old-fashioned way of making out with your date on the sofa; and even then, couch artist is sometimes used in derogatory.
Shirley Jones says her character was the first working mother on TV. That's not true. In 1968, Diahnn Carroll played a single, working mother in Julia.
Actually the first working mother on TV was Lucille Ball in "The Lucy Show" in 1964. Remember she had the 2 kids (Chris and Jerry) and she worked for Mr. Mooney at the bank.
