On my first blind play through of the game I got the broken antenna without grinding for it. I didn’t even know it was a rare drop until I checked the wiki. I also grinded for two star pendants and found a spot where you can keep reloading a room that’s guaranteed to have a major psychic psycho but no regular psychic psycho in it, so it didn’t take too long

When you had hiccups i started remembering how I don't remember having had any for years. What hapenned to me? I actually miss them, they were funny and didn't overstay their welcome, just a wierd goofy moment

I've been slowly working on this since the game got put on the switch, and I'm still sitting in front of Frankie, lvl19, 156 hp, still waiting for that pizza. I'll update every so often when I hit checkmarks, but it's looking to be one of my unluckiest challenge runs of any game I've played, and I'm not out of the gate yet Update 1: got the Pizza after nearly hitting lvl21, and then just going to the next locations so I could do the grind, I got the Cultist Caramel, the slug Bomb with Jeff, and the roach Secret Herb. I'm now grinding Musica in the Dept store for the Sudden Guts Pill

He is probably the only person in history to complete this challenge! If not, at most 6 people have done it! Congratulations my man! You are indeed an EARTHBOUNDER!

Enraged fire plug, military Octobot, and bionic kraken took me the longest to get their items. How long did it take me to get meteorite from military octobot? I had 4 SWORDS OF KINGS by the time I got it. Absolutely brutal.

Are you _100% sure_ Jeff's Spy command can randomly fail to find an item? I'd never heard of such a thing before you mentioned it here, and now I've been hunting Spiteful Crows for about half an hour to test it and the _only_ time it failed was when his inventory was full- since HE'S the one Spying, HE needs to have inventory space for it. Also, there's a really cool trick for the Mechanical Octobots I learned when I did this challenge myself on my 3DS: Evil Eyes are the _only_ enemy in Invaded Onett whose level is below 66, which means that when your entire party is at level 99, they're the _only_ enemies who will sometimes flee the party on sight. You can use that to SNOT them out of the picture if you see them!

My first run was a sword of kings run, but also a lot of grinding obstacles I set along the way, such as being able to unleash the later PSI moves early on - e.g. Rockin' Gamma when fighting women on the streets of Fourside.

EDIT: I finally did it, the Manly Fishes Brother and the Bionic Kraken took so damn long 😪 Im about halfway through the challenge Ness is like level 65. Doing this on the switch is super easy because if you happen to mess up something you can just use the rewind feature

I tried to get that stupid Gutsy Bat but the game gave me TWO Goddess Ribbons and a lot of PSI Caramels and Multi Bottle Rockets

Once I was playing in the happy happy and I fought the first cultist and got the PSI caremal THE FIRST CULIST HAD A CAREMAL this actually happend

I did this challenge in summer of 2018 and I got horn of life from manly fish brother first try. I wasn't even going for it, so I was freaking out and pacing around my room for 5 minutes. Getting by far the most difficult item first saved me probably several days of my summer. But seriously please PLEASE don't ever do this challenge. It is absolute torture. I'm insane, so I did it, and I will never do it again.

I once saw a video of someone manipulating RNG perfectly to get the sword of kings on the first try. It was amazing. All this walking and opening the menu, seemingly at random.

Wow I didn't even know the brain food lunch was a 1/128 drop I remember trying to do a tiny bit of grinding and ofc killed the wrong enemy. But I got my hopes up for sword of the kings but then realized it was brain food lunch. And also I got star pendant on my second playthrough;

I don't know, man- these feels like such a masochistic way to play the game, but I applaud your willingness to take on a new kind of challenge. It really feels like the only item work grinding this way for is the weapons (sword, pan, and bat), but even then, it's just not worth it. I've never understood making Poo's ONLY weapon a 1/128 drop rate, or why some of these items would ever be so low. I feel like they could have come up with more interesting challenges with rewards like the Sword of Kings. The one time I tried grinding for that ONE item, I got frustrated and just moved on, so it says something about your commitment to do all of these. I feel like being so over-leveled would be game-breaking though, especially taking away the impact of leaving Magicant with the 200K EX boost when you're already level 99.

I once did this on accident. Was just going to get a few of the 1/128 items, but got the rest by freak chance without grinding.

Smilin sphere meteotite took me 10 hours straight; every other item took under an hour aside from skater pizza (about 2 hours) and fish horn of life (but under 3 and a half hours)

i did NOT know the super plush bear was a 1/128 from the mighty bear! i got it randomly and my inventory was full so i just left it behind 😭😭

I still can’t even tell you how bitter sweet it was when I killed almost 400 starman supers but I got the gutsy bat on the 1st kraken when I wasn’t hunting it

I think I remember getting the brain food lunch from a Starman once. Didn't know it was a 1/128 drop. If I had a nickel for each time I got the "wrong" 1/128 drop, I would have two. Which isn't a lot, but it's strange that it's happened twice. (While hunting for the broken laser, I got a meteotite from a hyper spinning robo)

with the amount of battles you went through if there was no level cap you would have defo ended the final battle like any enemy under your level

Wait, I didn't realise the PSI caramel from the cultist was 1/128. I just got one off the first cultist I found and was wondering why the others weren't dropping any.

I actually got the psi caremel on the very first Happy Happy village cultists. (I had no idea it was a rare item.)

If you're using an emulator, you can increment the RNG by 1 before the fight using save states and get each 1/128 item in about 15 mins

The only thing that sucks about getting these 1/128 items is being forced to kill off Ness probably around LV75 or so to get the Magicant Bonus lol

I did this in my first gameplay! BUT just with the equipment xD I took 94hrs. The BEST 94hrs ever. Love this game.

Every time i’ve played earthbound i’ve gotten the sword of kings completely on accident (one time i got the gutsy bat too)

SMAAAAASH damage is calculated as (attacker offense×4)-target defense. So, the maximum damage possible is 1020, assuming attacker offense is 255, and target defense is 0. The lowest actual defense is 3, for the Spiteful Crow, which would theoretically be 1017 damage IF you could attack one without an insta-win. If you're feeling froggy and want to retry this again, wait until after Magicant to do the enemies that are always there, including the Giant Step, just go back to Onett BEFORE talking to Dr. Andonuts, it will be normal, and you can get the item without over-leveling!

I actually got a Meteornium from a Spinning Robo in Peaceful Rest Valley during my latest attempt at Earthbound! Maybe you missed this one? I sold it shortly after getting to Happy Happy Village, but still...INSANE, man!

im a wow achiev/item collector so i did this challenge when i learned about its existence, took me 13 days it was really fun gutsy bat took me like 7 hours 👀

So, random question. I know the pogo punks always drop the hamburger. If I initiate with a skate punk and pogo punk runs over and joins before the battle starts, will I always get the hamburger and never get a chance at a pizza in those scenarios? I’m going to assume that’s where snot comes in and I’m going to guess it’s probably better to pick them off one at a time?

I always cheat SoK in and dont feel bad one bit about it. By the time you get it you are always OP for the rest of the game, not this way.

the smash attack noise between each clip is SO LOUD compared to the rest of the audio, it hurts my ears if i have the volume up loud enough to hear your commentary
