This arrived at just the moment it was most needed. I have been struggling with self-isolation and detachment from the Church community. Thank you and God bless.
This is beautiful! Thank you Stefanie😇. From this day, you'll be mentioned in our church in Serbia, at the Holy Liturgies. God bless you! Take care dear sister ☦
Sometimes this is the problem with reading, one cannot see her words. In the text it appears as, “anyone who follows the path of “egoism” be it even “holy” egoism, simply does not hear what Christ says, and does not see what His sacrifice on Golgotha was offered for.” In the text leading up to this she’s explaining how we are not saved alone, and our prayers themselves, given by the Church bear witness to this. Even in the sentence leading up to the one you pointed out, she’s says “anyone who abides in temptation of self-salvation alone”. And then makes her point in saying this is actually not blessed. This is not holy. Because, “they do not hear what Christ says, and do not see what His sacrifice on Golgotha was offered for.” So I think she’s criticizing the person that just focuses on themselves in their church and prayer life. Sure they do all of the “holy” things, but for whom? Just themselves? As you said, the two cancel each-other out One of the reasons that I love her writing is because of this very wit. I find a healthy balance of sarcasm in her words as I find (and love) also in St. Gregory Nazianzus’s writings. I hope that was helpful! Happy new year!
