This is the best take I've seen on "Sick" so far, great job. I personally do think the album does have a heavy anti-vax theme, but I liked your perspective and it might as well be that: an album Earl has put out and given complete liberty to us - the audience - to it as we want. The album is fire the whole way through and this video is just a great unbiased and unpretentious analysis on the album. 10/10.
Thank you man, Earl always gives us a lot to think about. I just want to help break some of it down and start a conversation. Appreciate you commenting!
That’s the thing is that it’s art. It’s up to the viewer to interpret it as they please. That’s what is so special about earl. So diverse. He can tell you stories in multiple ways depending on how you decide to absorb the content.
Yeezus bro... Loved this analysis so much (and the tonal delivery complimented it all beautifully). Earl's kept me as a fan mostly through flows and one off bars- I've always known there's more, but I don't prioritize interpretation of his work before other art that's out here to work with (in part because I trust that the internet will provide interpreters, e.g. this). To that end, you made an already great album really come alive for me again; it'd be like a favorable wind gust that takes an already built-well ship (i.e., the album) and just throws it into the most graceful display of function-being-applied-publicly imaginable. Much appreciated. Will share, like, subscribe and support.
My dude. I really appreciate your support. To be honest this album was a challenge to decode and took me much longer than others I’ve done. I guess that’s just how Earl music goes. Glad you get to see it in a fresh perspective and happy to have your support 🤞
good analysis that i think is pretty accurate. i definitely think earl left it up to the audience to interpret the art however they want. i also think that 2010 talks about how he lost his friend mac miller, and old friend talks about odd future, and all the different african aspects of the album were because of his father. nonetheless, good breakdown, i left a like.
