I remember performing this song in Ohio with individuals portraying Christ and the resurrection story in concert with a tomb, special lighting and effects. It was an extremely powerful setting, The Paynes always wanted to make its concert ministry more real for its listeners.
I remember you guys performing it at church. Talk about even making a child feel Gods presence. I miss the times as a kid having the group around camp an the house. Awesome singers and great people.
@@mattchaffin1133 Well said, I feel the same way. I first heard it in the early 1980’s , I’m 52 now and still have to shout every time I hear it….. powerful
As a child my mom would take me to see you , the singing cookes, the mckameys and some others at Dayton Memorial Hall. I always loved when you performed The Conversation.
I remember listening to this when I was about 5-6 over and over on an old record player we had. I would always cry and get so excited knowing Satan was defeated and Jesus conquered death!!!! Loved this song-still do :)
Me too! But, ours was on cassette! Over and over…SAME! Oh how I would CRY when Lorraine would hit the high notes with “HE IS RISEN! He is RISEN”! The Paynes have voices of angels! Thank God for them and for the instilling of the Gospel of our Lord and Savior from such a young age to date ♥️😭🙌🏼
I remember seeing The Paynes at a conert in Mt. Sterling, OH at the Monroe Men's Gospel Sing at Westfall school. They were ther with the Original Hinsons. The Hinsons sang The Lighthouse and everyone was on their feet, but when The Paynes sang this song, there was a shout went thru that auditorium by all who were there. It felt like we would be lifted out of there on to Heaven. I will never forget it. An unforgettable song, group, and moment.
At Hart County High School, Hart County Kentucky Circa. 1984-85, I was about 8 years old and came up to Mike just to ask if he could do that ol' "Devil Song". He said he would just for me. I'll never forget it, Mike had them turn the spot light off and the gymnasium lights back on, pointed and winked at me right before he sang this. The funny thing is that night, Keith had pinned his tie down and when Mike went to pull "satan's" tie it wouldn't budge an inch... Everyone loved it!! Thank you!!!
This is one of my alltime favorite songs. Almost makes me wanna shout every time I hear it. Thanks so much for putting this on here for all of us to enjoy. It is truly a blessing.
I remember them doing this song when I was a child. I now "get it" since I've been saved. I would have loved to seen the look on the devil's face on that third day! Praise GOD!
I Love this song and I love the Paynes. I go to a church where the Paynes songs are still heard and loved by a younger congragation. The singing group in our church started doing this song a while back. I have it on you tube if you want to check it out.
I heard this song when I was younger and I am now looking to find it on a soundtrack or CD by The Paynes. If you know where I can get it please let me know. This is a very powerful song!! I love it!!! Thank you for posting it!
