When The Little Red-Haired Girl told Charlie Brown how much she admired him, I cried quietly in the theater. Charlie Brown is my favorite Peanuts character. I can relate to him the most.

I'm a 37 year old man. When I finally saw Charlie fly that kite...I cried. Straight cried and cheered. I love the peanuts. I'm a charlie brown. And I'm proud of it.

I think this movie flew under the radar. I certainly didn't heed it when it came out. My loss. Just a simple, honest, beautiful story.

It did go under the radar. People barely speak of it, and for the life of me, I don't know why.

Funny story about me: when I heard the announcement in 2012 there was going to be a Peanuts Movie in 2015, I was really excited. I waited 3 years in anticipation and when I saw it, I was greatfully satisified and it was my favorite movie of 2015. I can honestly even as a teenager (as I’m writing this comment) say this is what I consider a perfect movie. I can’t believe it’s taking me this long to comment on honestly one of favorite videos from this channel. Well better late than never. :)

God bless Charles Schultz and the Peanuts. This kept to the heart of the creator of the Peanuts, and I loved it. Unfortunately, since then, like so many franchises, it has gone far left, such as with the astronaut Snoopy, and things of this nature. Other than this movie here, stick to the actual works of Charles Schultz, and the music from Vince Guaraldi from these movies and animated creations. Thank you for your video. This is true. I always felt connected to the character of Charlie Brown and the lessons we can rise above in faith, true love and togetherness.

I remember late 2015 and a friend being able to take me out to "The Peanuts Movie" before it closed in the theaters. When it was all over, I looked over at him with happy tears in my eyes, and said, "Thank you". A year later, I had to go through two major surgeries, including an aortic valve replacement that I and my family had expected for...well, forever. I'd been fortunate enough to get a DVD copy of this, and by golly, "The Peanuts Movie" was my recovery movie. Charles M. Schulz really wanted "Peanuts" to "end" with him in some sense...can't put my finger on the nuance of it right now...and we all were still lucky enough to have this movie.

A lovely movie indeed - that end-speech from the Little Red-Haired Girl reminds me so much of the 'Isn't it about time somebody saved your life?' speech that another red-haired girl, Mary-Jane Watson, gives Peter Parker at the end of Spider-Man 2 (of course, you could probably do a whole video comparing Charlie Brown and Spidey as kindred spirits in any case, but that's by the by...!). Indeed, this is probably my favourite comic strip (as opposed to comic book) adaptation of all time - although in the (sadly unlikely) event that they ever make a Calvin and Hobbes movie, then all bets are off, yes? (PS: Speaking of Snoopy and the Red Baron...surely, no discussion of Peanuts would be complete without this masterpiece, yes? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P1o8--vFvCs.html)

I agree with the other people saying this was a lovely review! I grew up on the Peanuts comics (on the younger side becos I'm 30) and so I was excited for this movie from Blue Sky and they NAILED it. Also, "Selfless love" is a recurring theme amongst Blue Sky's works, starting with _Ice Age_ back in 2002, so I think they were the only company ideal for upholding Schulz's principles on screen and giving Charlie Brown a long-overdue win and because of that I love The Peanuts Movie. It's one of my favourite Blue Sky movies.

Strangely enough, I see this movie as proof that perhaps the problem with the Peanuts franchise is Schulz himself. ...and maybe the mismanagement of A Charlie Brown Christmas, which made that show barely coherent, especially compared to its later contemporaries, but that's probably not THE problem. (The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show did that gag about Charlie Brown's directing better, by having everyone distracted by a TV.) I've read a lot of Peanuts in my time. I've seen many story arcs, from Beanbag Camp, to that time Charlie Brown got a baseball rash, leading to him wearing a sack on his head, to that time Lucy had to play Golf for a faceless adult crowd, to even when Lucy, Schroeder, and Linus were much younger than Charlie Brown, to that time Peppermint Patty realized Snoopy was a beagle. Charlie Brown's father is a barber. And most people I know don't believe The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show even exist, despite the DVDs. There were a lot of good stories. All those were made way back when Charles Schulz was still alive, and still going through a little thing called Clinical Depression. He never really analyzed Charlie Brown (beyond "Get over it. Five cents, please."), or gave that dog a bone, but was willing to make Snoopy as great as great can be. He wrote the characters, and told stories with them that made sense during the 20th century. He probably didn't see characters like Lucy as toxic, or see bullying as anything but normal. In a way, that is sad, but Schulz understood how Charlie Brown felt. When Schulz died, we got Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown, which analyzed the characters a lot more, to the point where Linus points out how everyone has their flaws, and they shouldn't egg him on over his blanket. In a way, it's better than anything Schulz wrote. ...I've also seen Peanuts animated in an overly smooth Flash style. Big mistake. The writing's word-for-word, but it's the animation that's the problem, especially when they're illustrating what they're saying.
