Bought the Sabotage kit from Pedals, Parts and Kits based on the GuitarPCB board and built it over a few weeks. Found a few things that the v2 pc board needed changed and modified the kit to correct the problems.
Used the JayDee Custom Guitars SG Special with JayDee 6 pole humbucker pickups tuned to C# Standard.
Setup the SUNN Pillars Of DOOM speaker rig with the Laney LA30BL head. Both inputs are jumped for something different.
A rig picture and a Zoom H3-VR binaural recording.

I like this video and this channel, Richard. Because of the tuning and low output pickups Tony was always trying to get brightness and articulation. Around '73 or '74 he was likely using JBL D-120F's instead of Goodman's or Fanes or even Celestions that came stock in the Laney cabs. If you can find them you could even try the Laney-spec Celestion T-1976's that had similar brightness, headroom and were were even more aggressive than the JBL. He would have used these right up until the end of the Ozzy era. Then it was KT-88 Marshalls and high wattage Celestions for H&H until 6L6 based 300W Boogie Coliseums entered the picture for Mob Rules. An all-maple Birch guitar would help articulation even further.

I have a John Birch J1 with a JB Biflux neck and JB Magnum bridge pickups. It is very bright in comparison to the Mahogany SG. It weighs a ton! I know Tony's J1 had his interchangable pickup system, so never seen the pickups in use, but the John Birch SG had the Magnum X bridge I have on my Epiphone SG Goth. Have seen both a JB Magnum and Hyperflux in the bridge position of the JB SG. Lots of changes over the years. I have a more modern JBL K120 in a Laney 1x12 that is from the '70s, where the D120F was late '60s and Fender favorites. There is a video of it on the channel.

@@HollisAudioLabs Wow - I woiuld love to try an original J-1. I am convinced the J-1 was the guitar used to record Sabotage while the more famous JB SG was being finalized. There is a great Sabbath gig in 1975 in San Antonio where Iommi used the J-1 on the Children of the Grave encore. The sound is really loud and bright compared to the rest of the set. Totally different to the Monkey. It's interesting to hear. There is even supporting visual evidence of Iommi using that guitar on that date. A Google search brings it up eventually. I know a Fender Twin was used on the SBS album and that probably also had the JBL's in it. John "Dawk" Stillwell (r.i.p) confirmed on his old website that the Laney cabs he inspected in Sabbath's lockup in 1979 had orange frame D120F's. Everything mid '75 to 1978 had a very bright, focused tone. Keep up the great work, Richard!

@@HollisAudioLabs I like those pickups. For Iommi inspired tones I have a JayDee single coil based on the Monkey pickup in a '68 SG Special with a Leo Quan bridge. Also, a JayDee double coil humbucker based on the Birch maple cross guitar in a black 2022 SG Special with a Schaller fine tuner bridge. The new Gibson's are built fine but the wood isn't quite right. It's not dried out fully. For that sound I'll go Into a '73 Klipp with matching 4x12 Laney cab with a quad of Goodmans or JBL D-120f's or even T1976's. I have the early Sabbath tone on deck. The Laney is critical for that

@@phildemetro When I have another demo day at our local theater in MD, I will bring the JB J1 guitar as I had a request. I will see if I can locate a Fender Twin with JBL D120F's speakers as others have asked about the SBS sound. Have seen a picture of Tony in a studio with two 1x12's loaded with what could be either JBL D120F or Goodmans 12-PG speakers as they have the 4in metal dust cap. Could not see the cone well enough to see if it is smooth or ribbed. Probably the D120F's with the SBS info.

@@HollisAudioLabs SBS - the song itself - is too bright to be a Laney amp. A National Acrobat by comparison has that Laney sound.
