Medaglia d’Oro is already the sire of a Preakness winner and multiple Kentucky Oaks winners, but your points about stamina on the bottom are valid. His effort in the Louisiana Derby is enough for me to believe the distance won’t be an issue, especially against a field like this. He won’t struggle with the distance any more than a horse like Mystik Dan. Catching Freedom has looked very good in the mornings from what I’ve seen, but I’m concerned about the pace scenario for him (and need to trim somewhere, can’t be picking over a third of the field on top lol)

@atillakaral5427 Chad has won 2 Preakness's on dry dirt tracks. Chad will also have the favorite for the Belmont which is dirt last I checked and he just lost the Derby by a nose. Last I checked Churchill is dirt? You have no point.

I think this is a great point. I’d love to see them try to take back and make a run with him and see if it helps, he clearly has a lot of ability but there’s some mental kinks that need worked out if he’s going to be a top-class runner. Reminds me a lot of The Wine Steward, who I was super high on last year but similarly has found himself in the habit of wanting to buddy-up in the stretch

@hawkstonebloodstock good point. 👍 and I am sure they tried but could not train the herding out of Wine Steward. I am wondering for Saturday if Imagination buddies up with Seize the Grey will they be around at the end? The Pat Day Mile went out fast. I think STG in this race is the rabbit for Lukas for Just Steel to make one run behind that with Rosario.

@@bnegs521 I obviously don’t know the horse the way Maker does, but from an outsider’s perspective I’d be VERY interested to see what The Wine Steward does without blinkers, wondering if he relies on being around the herd because he’s insecure without a full field of vision. Could be a similar issue for Imagination, too. I think you’re right about the role Seize the Grey will play in here, too. I think I read earlier today that Lukas said he’d be forwardly placed. I expect him to be the kind of horse Imagination is able to put away just by being significantly faster, but we might see them go a little quicker than it looks on paper if he presses. Just Steel definitely seems like the more likely of the two Lukas trainees to me, especially if StG helps him out up front

I’ve come to the conclusion I was just totally wrong about whether Colonel John would be enough to balance out the Goldencents, maybe I’m backing down from my opinion that this horse didn’t want anything to do with 10f too quickly, but he ran so much better than I expected in the Derby that I’ve decided I was completely wrong to question his stamina. The 2 weeks does worry me a bit too, though, and is why I don’t think he’s going to be a good bet in here

@bnegs521 ''Mystik Dan barely got the wire'' is that your best explaination for a Goldencent's colt winning the Kentucky Derby.Let me explain the stamina coming from SIPHON (BRZ)in its damside,but it will be a long list of route G1 races including the Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) which is run in desert heat and 1 1/4 Miles,no need to say needs top stamina.
