You can tell when you research a lot of these witch hunts and trials that revenge and settling old scores was definitely the name of the game.

Being from Pendle, it's so strange to hear my area talked about. I assumed this was a story everyone knew, as I've been doing the Pendle Halloween walks all my life.

I've lived relatively close to Pendle all my life and have visited many times so have always been fascinated by this case - I got so excited when I saw this video in my notifications!! Thanks Georgia you covered it amazingly x

I used to go onto Pendle hill on Halloween when I was a lot younger. It used to be busy at this time of the year. I always found it to be very atmospheric and just a little eerie x I’m only about 10 miles away x

I used to be obsessed with the Vampire Diaries, but after they made the most evil creature in the universe to be a Native American girl descended from two different holy man/holy woman/shaman lines, I just can’t do it anymore. I don’t watch Once Upon a Time anymore either because dream catchers are made of “dark magic.” I just don’t like our religions/spirituality being portrayed as evil in pop culture. Yeah I’m from Lancashire, we do still profit off the witches, our busses are called the “witch way busses” people do pendle walks up the hill all the time to catch the witches and ghosts!!

Definitely visit. Up pendle there is a church that still has a witches grave, with skull and crossbones on it. My parents used to take us as kids x

Ooo the German Witch trials in Bamburg the mayor was even burned. It’s so funny we think of burning witches at the stake but that never happened in the US and and I’m almost certain never in England either it was a continental Europe thing. Mathew Hopkins the Witchfinder General would also make an interesting video. If you enjoy old foreign films there is a Czech film about witch trials called Witchhammer which is quite good I mean it had a7.9 out of 10 on IMDb. I think it is on RU-vid. Speaking of burning people at the stake Joan of Arc would be a good video if you haven’t done one on her before. There is a movie based on just the trial transcripts.

Maybe it wasn’t a meeting about witchcraft at all! Maybe they simply decided they’d rather spend their Friday night playing Scrabble instead of nodding of in church!? And I don’t blame ‘em!

Georgia I hope your move has gone well! You were the 1st RU-vidr my husband would watch with me bc of your history series. Ironically he accused me last night that Yorkshire was just the name of a dog when I said no it's a city/town in England so Thank You for mentioning Yorkshire in this video! I guess I was somewhat naive to think the Salem Witch Trials were the worst bc those poor people were tortured by being hanged ao slowly! Janet definitely got back at her family for being treated differently but the outburst her mother had at her before she'd even testified is quite strange for the time period this all happened in. In today's time there are a lot of courtroom outbursts but back then there was a different standard. Now Ed "the boy who can pick out witches" OMG what a fabricated story he told his parents n sorry I still cannot believe they actually believed him! N even in today's world innocent people are struck down by jailhouse illnesses around the world and even put to death. Being that I grew up in a death penalty state I do support it but only in the worst of cases such as the current case out of Warren,Michigan which is close to where I live now where 3 people were brutally executed including a 6 year old little boy , his fathers gf and his father who was found in a burned out rental car. They have caught the man who did this and Michigan does not have the death penalty as an option but local authorities are working with the FBI to see if they can charge this awful guy Federally so the death penalty can be used. Now going back to the people who were cruelly put to death for being a "witch" I will always feel was ridiculous and that many innocent lives were taken. The Salem Witch Trials began due to 2 little girls accusing a woman who worked for their family of being a witch n that was why they had the weird afflictions they did.
