The Penn State Pregame Experience 

This is incredible!! My son was just accepted to PSU. He'll start next fall and hopes to have the Blue Band experience. I have goose bumps now! WE ARE PENN STATE has now become part of our vocabulary!!

Awesome! Brings back so many memories from marching in the Blue Band in the early '80s. Seem to be far more turns and spins than the routine we did back then. Great!

There were people that complained years ago, I think late 80s, so we can't sing it anymore. Since the complaints, the song has only been publicly performed once. It was at Gilley's, Jan. 2nd, 2012, Dallas, TX. It was lead and conducted by a volunteer fireman/4 year senior/manager.

As a Gator fan, outside of my team I love you guys and Nebraska. Such awesome fans man so cool to see your videos. Meet a ton of you at the bowl game and basically every single PSU fan was friendly. Never seen that. Generally fans from other teams are dicks but not ya'l. So I'll always root for you as long as it's not verses us.

How do they ware those drum harnesses?? I wonder where you can get a snare drum like that?? If you now please tell me thanks!!

PLEASE put up the Rock and Roll portion of this video, I've always wondered what that looked like from the field.

There are fewer drumline spots in the pregame drill than there are for halftime/normal performances. So not everyone plays in pregame every time - there are doubles for some of the spots. Often tenor players will take snare spots for pregame.

@tjmell Hey, i'm also applying to happy valley and i am also a band member. how many euphoniums/baritones are in the band normally? i really want to know so i can start practicing

They're three pieces, a metal y-shaped one that attaches to back and belly straps, and to the drum itself. Basically you tie it all together and hope for the best (ha). I think the snares are Yamaha championship series (vs. the Yamaha mTs's used for all other performances). I'm not sure where the harnesses came from, as I've never seen another group use anything like them.

TJ, Great video. I'd suggest using mixing in the audio from the press box video of the same performance. It has good band sound and crowd sound.
